COVER STORY

Is there a neighbor experience you are most proud of? Helping Twin Lakes secure four AEDs for the community after tragically losing Mimi. Just trying to be helpful when illness and loss occur. That’s when that person needs you the most. Helping out however we can. Looking out for those living alone. Taking care of the neighbors dogs as needed. Are there any recommendations for other neighbors? We have a “Twin Lakes Facebook page.” This is the ideal forum for giving and asking for recommendations. The group shares pictures, provide informal new restaurant reviews. Also vendor and contractor sharing.

YENCHIKS

What is… Your name? Jodi Yenchik Your spouse’s name? Len Yenchik Your children's names? Jeff, Lindsey and Matt. Your dog’s name? Alex, a Black Lab rescue mix. When did you move to Twin Lakes? 2.5 years ago. What street do you live on? West Fountainwood Dr. What do you love most about Twin Lakes? The beauty and nature of our environment. Still love seeing the baby gators, birds, foxes, frogs, and ducks. We feel like we are on vacation every day. The camaraderie of the Residents. We also try not to miss the rocket launches. They just never get old. Where did you move from? Yardley, PA. What do you miss most? Our Children and Grandchildren, who reside in PA. What is your background? Jodi is a retired Registered Nurse with a Dr. of Laws degree. She obtained her Law Degree from Widener University School of Law in Delaware. For Fun Jodi and Len did Real Estate; Jodi became a certified stager to help in selling their listings. Prior to moving, Jodi was the Director of Clinical Reimbursement in Philadelphia for a large healthcare provider. Before that position she was the Regional Outreach Coordinator and the Regional Lactation Consultant for the Central NJ Material and Child Health Consortium 2 Twin Lakes Life Magazine | Summer 2019

overseeing 10 Medical Centers in Central NJ. Jodi worked for Children’s hospital of Philadelphia and also did home care. Jodi owned several business, Best Beginnings, AEM, a legal medical review company, and she had a home staging business. Her motto is work hard and play hard. Sleep is over rated! Len is a Sr. Systems Analyst with Cooper University Health Care in Camden, NJ. He’s worked for Cooper since January, 1988, and continues to work part time today. Len hopes to finally retire by year-end, 2019. What is a good story about Twin Lakes? We enjoy our Sunday get-togethers with our friends. While out walking Alex we get to meet old and new neighbors and just welcome them. What is unusual or unique about Twin Lakes in comparison to your previous home? We wave to everyone and they wave back. We have never lived in a community where the residents are so friendly. When someone is feeling under the weather I like to take a meal over to them. It meant so much when friends did that for me after a major surgery. The caring, friendliness of the community, activities, the pools, fitness center. We are looking forward to the completion of the walking trails and dog park, new pool and the the clubhouse. We enjoy taking the boat out in the lake. What is your favorite weekend activity? Spending time with our friends, or going to the Disney parks, beach trips and of course shopping. Going out to eat with others is always enjoyable.

Do you have a cause or business that you would like to promote? I want to encourage people to please adopt a shelter or a rescue animal. Our dog came from a high kill shelter in Alabama. To think he may have been put down because he is black and they are the last pets adopted would have broken my heart. Alex is the smartest, sweetest dog we have have adopted. What do you do for fun? Jodi likes crafting, and reading. Both of us enjoy traveling, and cruising whenever they have time to do so. What is the last movie that you have seen in the theatre? The Book Club. Who is your role model and why? Our parents, because they taught us young to volunteer and help others. They taught us to be honest, and to always do the best we could in whatever we did in life. My parents worked for years to help fund Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital In Browns Mills NJ. Deborah Hospital never charges for needed health care. What is your favorite TV Show? HGTV, and Hallmark station. Len is a Philadelphia sports fan. What else should we know about you or your family? Len and I love living at Twin Lakes. Even when our grandkids visit, their favorite thing to do is go to the pool and go on ‘nature hikes’ to see the wildlife in our community. n

MEET THE

Do you do any charity or non-profit work? Before moving I use to volunteer for the Goddard Schools as their Nurse consultant in NJ. I was a volunteer with the health department when we offered yearly drive through flu vaccines free to the Bucks County Residents. Also I was very involved with the March of Dimes and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Cleft Palate support group. For many years I worked in Maternal & Child Health. I guess my specialty was helping parents with children born with disabilities. Here in Florida I was fostering puppies for the Osceola Animal services.

Sun’s Out, Guns Out!

I

t’s that time of year to soak up the sun and lay by the pool. Pool parties are all the rage here at Twin Lakes and they’ve become very popular around this time of year. Whether you’re lounging and grilling at the lakeside pool or swimming laps and then enjoying some TV time outside of the pool in The Cabana, there is no wrong way to spend quality time with friends and family under the sun. Now with a third pool breaking ground, residents will be able to enjoy themselves in a large state of the art resort style pool. This new pool will be located right behind The Cabana. Florida’s weather makes it possible to enjoy the pools all year long. So don’t forget your towels and make your next pool party a splash!

Twin Lakes Has Talent

J

ust like the TV show, we’re looking to showcase our very talented residents in a community talent show! Another one of our newer events, our Twin Lakes Has Talents nights will offer entertainment to those residents who would like to attend and watch their talented neighbors perform, but also give a platform for those talented individuals to perform in front of their neighbors and friends. It will be a great time had by all and we hope to see you there!

MARRIAGE SEMINAR By Dr. Danny B. Purvis President of Growth Project and Pastor of Harmony Community Church

O

n September 7, 2019 Harmony Community Church, in cooperation with our virtual discipleship ministry Growth Project, will be sponsoring the Becoming One marriage seminar. This seminar is a one-day version of our Becoming One Retreat Weekend designed to deliver the same incredible information in a shorter format. I have been leading marriage retreats for more than 20 years with hundreds of married couples all around the country. Now, I get to bring it to Harmony. This one-day seminar will provide us with a fresh, new look at the very first institution God ever created. In fact, God created marriage before He even created the church. This event will allow us to see how God views marriage and how He wants us to view it…and enjoy it. We will answer such questions as: Where does this conflict between husbands and wives come from in the first place? What role does personality play in a marriage? What are the most common relationship killers (including the most dangerous one people never think of)? How can we have the marriage God intended for

us to have? And what role does forgiveness play in a marriage?

dollars per individual. And that is really just to offset the food and refreshments we will offer.

I know what you may be thinking. This is just like any other marriage seminar out there. Well, it’s not. I promise you that you will walk away from this with a fresh perspective on marriage and that you will see this amazing institution in a way that you’ve never seen it before.

Here is what the day will look like. We will start at 9 am and go until about 4:00 pm. We will provide lunch, and snacks will be available throughout the day and you will receive all seminar materials.

You may be thinking that you don’t need this because your marriage is fine, it’s not in distress. This seminar is not designed for marriages that are in severe distress. In fact, this is for people who have been married for 5 years or 55 years…who are about to get married…who think they might one day get married…or who are just interested in it. If you would like to see a few reactions to the seminar please go to www.growthproject.org and click on the Becoming One tab. Coming to this seminar is not an indication that you are in trouble, but it can certainly give you the tools to avoid those troubles in the future. You may be wondering about the cost. I really want this to be a help to the community. The cost is negligible. Ten dollars per couple and five

If you’re interested, here is what I need from you. I need you to sign up for the seminar ahead of time with your name and an email address. There is a personality inventory I want you to complete prior to the seminar so that you can get all of the value you can from that module. I will need your contact info to get you that link. You can pay the seminar fee on the day of the event when you sign in. And I would love to get feedback from you once the event is over. That’s it. To sign up, simply email me at danny@ growthproject.org, or call me at 863-6049631. Don’t let this amazing opportunity pass you by. I’m excited about this…I hope you are as well. Let’s discover together the best way to have the marriage God intended for us to have. See you on September 7. n

We are still allowing the Bahia grass around the lakes “to go to seed”. In this process, we allow the grass to get tall enough to put off a seed pod. This will help the Bahia fill in and limit the areas where the weeds can grow. With it being summer the Bahia is growing faster so the mowing will come a little more frequently, but at times you will still see some tall grass around the lakes. We hope everyone has a great summer. Sincerely, Landform, your landscaping team
