The Women in Ministry Highlighter Mother McClain’s goal for the Department of Women is to empower women through training and leadership development, to promote service to others who are less fortunate and to develop innovative and creative ways to spread the Gospel in a changing and challenging society.

In essence, the Department of Women’s focus is ministry. The purpose of this newsletter is to highlight the good works that Auxiliaries and Units are doing, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them and give Him glory (Ephesians 2:10).

The women of TSE#1 made a bold and elegant



statement during the 42nd Holy Convocation adorned in pastels and wearing hats and fascinators to symbolize their “crown of Godly wisdom”.

The theme was “God’s Wisdom: A Crown of Glory.”

“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”

Psalm 34:8 KJV

During the early evening service, Mother Lena McClain, Supervisor of Women, addressed the house with fervor and authority as she shared teachings of a wise woman—her mother.

Monitoring Diabetes If you have diabetes, you need to know when your blood sugar level is outside the target range for your body. Fortunately, you can see what your blood sugar level is anywhere and anytime by using a home blood sugar meter (blood glucose meter).

Using the meter, you can find out what your blood sugar level is within a minute or two.

Knowing your blood sugar level helps you treat low or high blood sugar before it becomes an emergency. It also helps you know how exercise and food affect your blood sugar and how much short-acting insulin (if you take insulin) to take. Most importantly, it helps you feel more in control as you manage life with diabetes.

Three keys to success in monitor ing your blood sugar anywhere are:  Keeping your meter and supplies with you at all times so that you always have them when you need them.  Making it a habit to check your blood sugar level by building it into your routine.  Checking your blood sugar meter's accuracy when you visit your doctor by comparing your results with your doctor's results.

42nd HOLY CONVOCATION Highlights.…

Wisdom, knowledge, understanding and spiritual insight permeated the atmosphere as Plenary session speaker, Dr. Earline Allen spoke.

Indeed, this great woman of God wears a “crown of wisdom” that makes her worthy of double honor.

Special Guest Evangelist Ruth Pryor (pictured below) delivered a powerful, anointed word. She captured the audience attention by illustrating the need to travel light. As women, we have a tendency to over pack, carrying unnecessary baggage.

Out reach Highlights TSE#I Home and Foreign Missions minister ed at the Star of Hope Transitional Living Center on July 30th. Personal hygiene gifts were provided, assistance with preparation service and clean-up. 95 residents and staff were served.

Community Service The women of Jasper District #1 understand the importance of ministry in the community. They made sure some children had the school supplies they needed for a successful school year.

In addition, Home and Foreign Mission were blessed to minister to three (3) Jurisdictional sick and shut-in, and shared "WE Care Five Package".

Note from the Editor...

In September, COGIC celebrated the 150th birthday of its Founding Father, Bishop Charles Harrison Mason (9/8/1864). Certainly, women in ministry had reason to join in the celebration. With the large number of women joining COGIC, Bishop Mason was faced with the challenge of organizing and harnessing their energy, talents, and spiritual gifts.

The women’s department grew out of Bishop Mason’s vision that the women who were becoming COGIC members would be organized into a department that would work in harmony with male leadership. Bishop Mason and Mother Robinson created a role for women by establishing the Women’s Department in 1911. Under the direction of Bishop Mason, COGIC established a separate and unique ministry to promote the work of women in the church. The Women’s Department is the largest department in COGIC, and has been influential in the leadership and organization of the church since its inception.

Wherever there is a Jurisdictional event, you can always expect TSE#1 Greeters to be on their job—working, smiling and greeting the Saints.

TSE#1 2014 Holy Convocation Hilton Houston North

The Prayer Closet “Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thess. 5:17) These are praying times, and on Friday night, July 18th, the heavens opened as the Women’s Department of TSE #1 prayed fervently. Pastor and First Lady Morris hosted the shut-in at Saints Chapel COGIC, 4106 Elysian St. Missionary Mattie Jones facilitated the service. An outpouring of the Holy Ghost filled the house as the women, sang, prayed, and testified of God’s goodness. A powerful word proclaimed by Missionary Terrye Baker, followed by words of encouragement from Pastor Baker and the host pastor, Elder Morris.
