DIRECTOR’S NOTE

SYNOPSIS

At Queenwood, we believe the arts play an integral role in shaping the minds and hearts of young people, and the experience of bringing MAMMA MIA! to life has been no exception. Encouraging students to partake in events such as these during their time at school offers them invaluable experiences that go far beyond the stage; it fosters creativity, teamwork, and self-confidence, allowing our students to blossom into well-rounded individuals ready to take on the world.

MAMMA MIA! tells the tale of Sophie, a young bride-to-be who, on the eve of her wedding, goes on a quest to discover the identity of her father. Her quest brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years before. What happens next is a magical story of love, laughter, and friendship.

MAMMA MIA! has been a labour of love for our cast and crew, and this production is a true testament to the power of collaboration and commitment. Our students have rehearsed with enthusiasm, found their courage, and in doing so have embraced the transformative nature of the performing arts. Witnessing their growth and passion throughout this journey has been impressive.

Featuring 22 of ABBA’s greatest hits including Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, Voulez-Vous, Dancing Queen, S.O.S. and Take A Chance On Me, this is your chance to revisit the iconic soundtrack of our lives.

From the actors on stage, to the crew behind the scenes, to the musicians in the orchestra pit; every member has poured their heart and soul into creating an energetic show that we hope will leave you dancing in the aisles and humming the tunes for days to come. To our treasured audience, as you settle into your seats, we hope you will be transported to the sunny shores of Greece, where laughter and friendship weave together to create an unforgettable experience. Your presence here tonight supports the arts and also encourages the young artists who are eager to share their talents with those they love. On behalf of the entire team, I extend a warm welcome to you all! Ms Jade Gibson HEAD OF DRAMA
