I wanted to share with you the works of one of the most talented photographers whose work I admire immensely. His name Sazeli Jalal. Sazeli was born and raised in Singapore and is completely self taught in photography. His passion for art, architecture, style and design inspires him to create some of the most outstanding photos I have ever seen. His dedication and passion shines through his work. One shoot in particular that I wanted to share is his works titled “ Paper Gangster.” All that was used for this beauty shoot was a model and origami. With a 40’s nouveau flair, the colours of the palette, the lighting, the expression he captures are dimply divine. He is a true art director and captures a moment beautifully. Many people use photography as a way of self expression or to
create art. We want to see beautiful things to inspire us in our day-to-day lives. Photography captures what the plain eye cannot see. Being pushed out of the box and admiring something you would not normally look at is a grand thing. Opening our minds to something new helps us grow. Photography is inspiring, how can you not love photos? The next time you are in a thrift shop grab yourself an old camera and some film. Experiment with taking photos. Dress up your friends, your cat or dog which ever you choose, fashion is anywhere. It’s up to you to create it and make it your own. To see more of the works of Sazeli Jalal visit his website: www.sazelijalal.com Stay tuned: ~ next week a local designer profile~ Enjoy the long weekend. Friday Stickybuds w/ Busta Breakbeat/Punk/Hip Hop Saturday Billy Bangers & Django A self-proclaimed “Disciple of The Blues”, veteran guitar and lap steel player Sonny Rhodes returns to town for another weekend stand. Born to sharecroppers in 1940, the country blues performers surrounding Smithville Texas, his hometown, and nearby Austin, provided a rich learning environment for a young guitar player. He started his first band while in his teens, and performed in blues bars and juke joints all around Austin, before enlisting in the Navy. Recording a string of singles beginning in 1958, radio play and moderate success didn’t translate into a solo career, and Rhodes spent most of his time playing bass behind Freddie King and Albert Collins. After successfully touring Europe under his own name, Rhodes took matters into his own hands and recorded 1985’s Just Blues on his own label; since then, he’s been consistently putting out great albums, on various labels, and successfully touring the world, always with a smile on his face and a great band behind him.
