Five easy pieces For this pattern collection, I set out to generate instructions for five of the most common accessories— scarf, hat, mittens, gloves, and socks—at gauges suitable for all five of the Quince & Company wool yarns—Finch (fingering), Chickadee (sport), Lark (worsted), Osprey (Aran), and Puffin (chunky). With the exception of the gloves, each project includes instructions for each of these yarns. (I think Puffin's too thick to make reasonable fingers on gloves.) In terms of stitches, I chose simple textural patterns, most of which are multiples of four stitches that can be mixed and matched between projects. The modified rib pattern shown on the hat would make nice cuffs on gloves; the garter rib cuff pattern shown on the gloves would be nice for the leg of a sock; the dense cable pattern shown on the mittens would be great on a hat. Of course, you can also choose to eliminate the pattern stitches shown here and work any of the projects in plain stockinette, seed, or any other stitch instead, as long as you get one of the gauges specified.
