But how do you kn o ot ph ur yo r fo ed ur pt ca t special momen you’ re considering er th he W u? yo r fo ht rig is which photographer d professionals in this magazine or another any of our recommende, you need to do your homework. professional

THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING THE CAMERA GUY... EXPERIENCE: How long has he/she been doing this? Also, is this his/her full time job or just a hobby? PHOTOGRAPHIC STYLE - Fun, formal, artisitic, journalistic, all the above, etc... HONESTY - Is this the photographer that will be photographing your quinceañera or will they send in whomever is available. Don’t be shocked, this happens more often than you can imagine. HIS PERSONALITY - Do you get along with him/her? Is there “chemistry”? If you don’t, it will show in your pictures. APPEARENCE - Ask him/her what will wear the day of the event... NO JEANS PLEASE!!! DELIVERY - How long does he/she take to deliver your album? Believe it or not, some of them take more than a year! CONTRACT - Do you understand the contract? Make sure everything is written. Read it ALL. REFERENCES - A personal reference is always the best and people love to talk. Get a list of references from the photographer and check them out personally. A photographer who doesn’t have references or is afraid to give them to you may not be the person that you want to hire.

Questions to ask to the Photographer How long have you been in business? How many quinceañeras have you shot? What distinguishes your work from that of other photographers? Do you have a portfolio I can review? Can I see your most recent work? What type of equipment do you use? Can I give you a list of specific shots I would like? What information do I need to provide you before the EVENT day? Are you the photographer who will shoot my QUINCE? Do you have backup equipment? Are you photographing other events on the same day as mine? How will you (and your assistants) be dressed? Is it okay if other people take photos while you’re taking photos? How long after I order my photos/album will I get them?

QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ASK YOURSELF Do I feel a connection with this photographer? Are our personalities a good match? 16

Am I comfortable with this person’s work and style? JANUARY – JULY 2012

When you’re buying a dress the people helping you or the designer themselves will probably use a bunch of big words that you have never heard of, but we are here to help! Here are the most common words and theyre definitions:

Do you imagine yourself in a party bus listening and dancing to music? Or in a classy limo ? Arriving to the church and the banquet hall can be as fun or as stylish as you want it to be... For limo companies and their websites you can look here, in this magazine, or you can go to QuinceanerasMagazine.Com and find them conveniently by zip code...

ASK THEM:

• How many hours does the price include? • Does it include the tip for the driver? • Does the price include drinks? (Soft drinks and water of course!)If not can I bring my own? • How much is the limo ride? • How much is the party bus ride? 30

“A new national survey finds that Latinos between the ages of 16 and 25 are satisfied with their lives and optimistic about their futures. They value education, hard work and career success. But they are more likely than other youths to drop out of school, live in poverty and become teen parents.”* Neolatina para nosotros es una mujer de entre 25 y 30 años, hispana, orgullosa de sus raíces.

MOSTLY A’s You like to party. Dancing and having fun is your thing . Your party can be at a club type of thing . You can have a live band if you’d like. The food isn’t that high on the “to stress about” list. What is big on that list would be where you are having it at. If you are not very traditional the organizing of a party won’t take much time. MOSTLY B’s You are super social, so it won’t matter where you have it you’ll have fun. You like to be the center of attention and like to have things your way. You are very creative and a theme might be good for you.

38

MOSTLY C’s This has probably been your dream since your were like 5 so here’s a chance to make that dream come true. You’re a dreamer and like things the traditional way. Family is the most important thing to you and you want to have them all be able to be there to share it with you. You want the more traditional things like the father / daughter dance and making some kind of thank you speech.

Quinceañeras Magazine is more than just print. Is a concept that involves all possible ways to reach our target audience. Teenagers about to celebrate their quinceañera are often difficult to target, don’t spend much time reading marketing material, they are at school and are also targeted by many other marketing channels such as TV, internet, cell phones. Accessing them via the media is a real challenge. Quinceañeras Magazine works because it reaches them in their niche, provides them with editorials they are interested in as a planning tool for their celebration, and also as the only local directory of the most recognized vendors to provide their needs. It’s the perfect media mix.

Church

Close your eyes and imagine this : Your are at the church walking down the aisle and it’s just quiet. You can hear your footsteps on the floor. It’s just an akward silence as everyone stares at you walking. Now imagine this: You’re at the church and walking down the aisle and the song “Ave Maria” is playing . There is no akward silence and no sounds of your footsteps . Which scene sounds better?

Having music at the church adds emotion to the moment and will keep everyone happy and focused. Many churches offer music for the ceremony but if they don’t you can get music SEPARATELY.
