DOMOTEX 2019 is coming The leading trade fair for floor coverings will be held from 11 to 14 January in Hannover, Germany, with approx. 1,400 exhibitors from over 60 nations expected to participate MARIANNA CASTELLUCCIO

REATE’N’CONNECT” is the lead theme at DOMOTEX 2019. The lead theme refers to today’s connectivity megatrend. Connectivity is affecting every aspect of how we live, work and interact. Floors play an important role here: they provide the very foundation for the rooms in which we live and work. Floors inspire us, give us orientation and set the stage for human interaction. All this in the redesigned DOMOTEX – with its easy-to-navigate site and hall layouts plus the eye-catching “Framing Trends” showcase in Hall 9, where exhibitors and creative designers can show off their innovative products and designs in style. “Framing Trends” comprises three showcase zones: the Flooring Spaces zone is where exhibitors and other providers from the flooring industry can stage their products, connect with visitors and position themselves as trendsetters; the NuThinkers zone is an opportunity for students to present their innovative projects; the Art & Interaction zone explores the keynote theme in a sensory feast of installations from the worlds of art and design. There are only a limited number of Flooring Spaces available, so a jury of experts gathered in September to assess a multitude of submissions and select the most creative projects to feature at the Framing Trends showcase.

spotlight on wood, tracing the material through seven life cycle stages, from tree in the forest to recycled product. It focuses on the intrinsic value and versatility of wood as a natural material. • SCHMIDHUBER participates with the “Connectivity Wheel”, the project that has both visual and interactive appeal. Visitors will be able to climb into the wheel and set it in motion by walking, thereby transforming their physical movement into an act of creation in which the light reflected from numerous colored glass facets interacts with surrounding floor coverings.

Art & Interaction • American artist Rena Detrixhe presents “Red Dirt Rug”. The installation collects red soil from the U.S. state of Oklahoma and fashions it into an ephemeral rug. Into the fine, sandy material she then imprints geometric patterns and ornamental designs using stamps cut from the soles of old shoes. Her vision in creating “Red Dirt Rug” is to draw attention to the massive impact on the landscapes by the extraction of natural resources like oil and gas. • The showcase by Vanessa Barragão using techniques such as crochet, macramé and knitting, she recreates three-dimensional coral reefs from recycled materials.

University of Applied Sciences (HS Wismar). The project explores the technological aspect of the connectivity megatrend. It involves two swings set up side by side, but separated, on which two people try to swing in unison. If they achieve a match, the two people get to meet each other. They can then use an app to e-mail their personalized wave graphics and they are able to connect with the outside world and share their experiences.

“MEET&GREET” and “GUIDED TOURS” On each of the four days of the trade fair top-name architects, planners and designers, along with some interesting new talents, will contribute to the “Talks” program and present innovative projects and fresh new ideas that illustrate the key role of flooring in interior design. After their presentations these experts will exchange their personal views and ideas with the audience in a chaired "MEET&GREET" round of discussions. Before and after the “Talks”, iconic architects and designers take visitors who are eager to learn more on “GUIDED TOURS” to their personal favorites and highlight exhibits at DOMOTEX. These daily tours provide participants with a more intimate understanding and an insider view of selected products that reflect the keynote theme. I

Antico Filò is being satisfied with the year 2018 in which new horizons and new collaborations have been opened in view of a year in full growth. This year's trend in our sector is in line with the previous one and our prospects for the coming year are of constant growth and strong movement in the entire construction/furniture sector. LISA MEROTTO, CEO OF ANTICO FILÒ

A factory where everything is taylor made A

ntico Filò is a dream born in 2015 from the passion for wood: it is a production reality in Falzè di Piave, near to Venice, specialized in production and sale of wooden floors, skirting boards and accessories that has made the ancient tradition of wood in these areas its personal philosophy. The finished product is placed in a medium-high market segment: the products, in addition to a high quality standard, are prized of various taylor-made finishes that are mainly produced according to the guidelines dictated by architects and sector professionals.

VIII

Classic wood species In this line Antico Filò proposes a a collection of the most prestigious hardwood flooring: American Walnut, European Walnut, Olive, Teak and Wenge. For those looking for something exotic, but still elegant and resistant over time. In particular in photos there is special work done with MAXI floor 3 layers Bourma Teak 170x15 brushed natural varnished. Essences of this collection are suitable both for classic and modern environments too. Unlike Oak and Larch, these woods are not dyed because of theirs intense, elegant and refined colours and shades.

tep by step Carver, from 1957, writes his story by offering innovative and quality products for the wood world. Today the company belongs to the Blanchon Group. A partnership born three years ago, based on internationalization and on the values of reliability, aesthetics, constant attention and innovation. Directly from Mme Marianne Rochet, International Director of the Blanchon Group and from Sergio Medugno, Carver Sales Manager, we discover the strength of the synergy created between these two companies. What does it mean to belong to the Blanchon Group? Being part of the Blanchon Group means benefiting from the best that a European leader in wood protection and decoration can offer. We speak of international prestige; perfect production cycle efficiency; cross-cutting vision of innovation; presence in several complementary sectors: industry, wood and building materials, paint factories, parchettists, do-ityourself shops; great eco-responsible commitment: from design to product distribution; industrious team of 500 employees committed to a common goal: to always meet customer expectations.

historic presence and where Carver is recognized as an Italian quality brand.

Have you faced any changes in the last three years of liaison? We have developed a general review of marketing by working, for example, on the modernization of the catalog and website, on product labels, on the creation of specific information material such as brochures and much more.

Carver and Domotex, what are the previews? For the 2019 edition, too, Carver will be present at DOMOTEX and to highlight the membership of the Blanchon Group this year we will share the same exhibition space. Despite Domotex has a mainly European catchment area or in any case of the old continent, Carver will have the pleasure to meet our clients from the Americas as well as introduce themselves to new ones potential clients. We will be present at Hall 13, Booth D48.

And what about products? In the last 3 years we have proposed new, latest generation products (Nordik, Boreal, Deck Protect) and we are ready to propose other innovations during 2019. Our choice is to eliminate as much as possible, dangerous products for the health. In particolar, those products characterized by the safety phrase H351, suspected of causing cancer. At the moment in our range there is only one product showing this phrase, but our laboratories are already working to find alternative solutions.

Successful alliances S

What are your values? First of all, reliability, considered a real priority. But we consider essential values also the sense of aesthetics,

constant attention to environment and health, innovation as an engine.

MME MARIANNE ROCHET, INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR OF THE BLANCHON GROUP

What is the market trend, in Italy and abroad? Despite the economic period, in the last few years the Italian market closed with a positive result compared to each previous year. This is thanks to the acquisition of new agents and customers and the maintenance of the entire existing sales force before the acquisition. Parallel to the Italian market, all markets have been consolidated, especially in the American continent, from Canada to Argentina. The management of the foreign market was shared with the Blanchon Group, allowing Carver to focus more on markets in which it has a consolidated and

The 2018 has opened with the best conditions that have been confirmed and we expect excellent results also in 2019, thanks to the new products we are about to launch: new installation geometries and new wall cladding systems to make the wooden floor not just a coating, but an added value for the home, for hotels, restaurants or other professional environments. RENZA ALTOÈ GARBELOTTO, CEO OF PARCHETTIFICIO GARBELOTTO

Clip Up System® at Davines Parma

Reaching excellence in the production of wooden floors and accessories S ince 1950 Garbelotto Industries have produced wooden floors of great beauty and of the highest quality with select wood from all over the world. The love for wood linked to the enormous experience of the Garbelotto family and their continuous technological research have enabled the company to reach excellence in the production of a vast range of wooden floors and accessories. From the beginning, the company has always invented and created technological advanced products which keep the beauty and warmth of handicraft made wooden floors. The Company has also worked on the futuristic headquarters of the Group which house offices and the new innovative showroom where you could see all Garbelotto and Master Floor products, with a new look that combines art, fashion and technology.

XIV

Clip Up System® The new revolutionary laying system Clip Up System® was developed by the Parchettificio Garbelotto R&D department. Thanks to the clip system that fits the grooves on the back of the boards, the laying is easy and stable and grants a totally flat surface. The installation becomes easy and super quick: you only need a hacksaw, a hammer and of course a professional installer, but no glues or magnets; even the clips do not need to be attached to the underneath floor or subfloor. Furthermore, this intelligent laying system makes the floor available right away: the room is ready to be furnished! This new international patented laying system makes the wooden floor totally inspectable: all boards can be removed one by one and eventually replaced, without having to remove the whole floor. It is definitely ideal for ‘turn key’ projects and for those ambiances where inspection is necessary: in fact, a sucker is enough to remove a plank and then you replace it in less than a minute.

At the end of May 2018 DAVINES, the worldwide giant in haircare and skincare, inaugurated its new headquarters: choosing the quality of Garbelotto’s Made in Italy flooring. The Davines village is located in Parma and spreads out on over 75,000 square meters. It consists of modern tiny houses made of glass and metal, that face a botanical garden used for pharmaceutical researches as well as for agricultural and environmental biodiversity. This seat is the perfect synonym of modernity and sustainability. Inside this “green” setting, Matteo Thun (Matteo Thun & Partners), a wood lover, worked out his project by using wood in many parts including the flooring. Davide Bollati, President of the Group, carried on the precise willing to build a sustainable seat and the furniture also reflects this vision: in their headquarters 3,000 square meters of oak wooden floor have been laid. It is the “Clip Up System®”, colour on sample, manufactured by Parchettificio Garbelotto and 6 staircases have made-to-measure cover.

I grandi classici Behind every project with I Grandi Classici there is the Itlas love of wood. In particular, there are knowledge, ability, craftsmanship, commitment and dedication to a daily job performed by highly specialized artisans. Studies and design, manual skills and experience bring to life floors whose beauty is there for all to see; outstanding floors that exude the scent of wood and life take into the world an exclusive product labelled Made in Italy. Compositions are inspired by classical styles embellished with marquetry, involving unique materials and ancient and modern patterns in a project that re-visits the past to make every house exclusive.

As far as our company is concerned, my forecast for 2019 are strictly connected to what we have done during 2018. We have worked hard on foreign markets, both to increase our presence where we already are and to enter new ones. On the Italian side, our company is committed to maintain the sales volumes we have already reached up to now. We therefore hope for a favourable trend in export, even in two figures. PATRIZIO DEI TOS, PRESIDENT AND OWNER OF ITLAS

Tavole del piave - XXS

Excellence and attention for the environment B

A retro air reminds us of the solid wood floors used in all houses before the onset of pre-finished flooring. Itlas has decided to bring back that classical flavour with the production of a 45 millimetre wide board, suitable for irregular patterns or classical herringbone and chevron, but particularly for creating the brand new geometry that interprets floors inspired by the past. The new Itlas proposition is part of the Tavole del Piave collection and includes all its characteristics: patented quality in three layers, ease of use, laying speed, and great stability and strength that make it suitable for underfloor heating systems. 100% made in Italy, the boards come with a certificate of origin.

orn at the start of the Eighties, today Itlas is a leading Italian company in the production of prefinished two and three-layer wood floors. Led by Patrizio dei Tos, the company has its legal and productive headquarters in Cordignano, in the Treviso province, and has based its business on attention for the environment, starting from researching a raw material which is rigidly controlled: the wood used comes from controlled forests which are managed in a correct and responsible way.

Quality, design and technology lindex was founded by Bibiano brothers in 1988. The Bibiano brothers, with over 10 years of experience in the sale of machines for the cleaning industry, perfected and patented their new system for polishing natural stone using the synthetic diamond pads technology. At first it wasn’t easy to introduce this new technology, because the customers were reluctant to believe that such innovation could improve upon the tried and proved method geared around the traditional heavy grinding machines. After a few years, however, thanks to the results and testimonials coming in from early customers, scepticism began fading to the point that the KLINDEX SYSTEM is now recognized as arguably “the best system for grinding and polishing all kinds of natural stones.” In a remarkably short period of time, contractors and fabricators from all over the world have been having a great deal of success with the Klindex floor care systems. Official recognition of the Bibiano’s achievement came in the form of the coveted NOMINATION FOR THE MOST INNOVATIVE PRODUCT AWARD conferred to Klindex at the Amsterdam Inter-Clean 2000 Convention for the monobrush UNIKA. This nomination has been acknowledged again on 2004 with “IDRAULIKUS”. Klindex designs and produces machines for cleaning and restoration of all surfaces. Thanks to its competence, KLINDEX assures to its customers efficient and good services. Moreover, thanks to the cooperation between Klindex and its customers, all the market demands are satisfied. All the projects are studied and supported by KLINDEX with up-to-date programs. KLINDEX has already achieved the certification UNI EN ISO 9001: 2000 for “DESIGN, PRODUCTION, SALE OF CLEANING AND GRINDING MACHINES”. Klindex is famous for its vivacity in the design and new projects. Klindex regularly collaborate with the University of L’Aquila and with its department of Energy for researches activities. Every year creates new Engineers. Klindex is very sensible to the ecological impact.

The 2018 was a successful year with an increase in turnover of around 5 %. The market of grinding and polishing floors and specially the " polished concrete " is continuously growing. For this reason we are confident that the trend will be positive also in 2019. We are also planning to launch some new features for 2019, which will certainly help to ensure that the trend continues to be increasingly positive. ERCOLE BIBIANO, CO-FOUNDER OF KLINDEX

Driven by a single goal: perfection L istone Giordano is synonymous worldwide with excellence in premium hardwood flooring. This reputation has been built over many years and is strengthened daily by the dedication and enthusiasm of all the people who work to create this product. They are driven by a single goal: perfection. The tradition that links Listone Giordano to the culture of wood is established in the forests of Burgundy, in France, where the best raw materials have been selected for many years. The forestry management in this area embraces an integrated cycle of more than 180 years: every tree is registered, numbered and monitored in order to guarantee a gradual increase in the woodland heritage. Listone Giordano long ago began moving in the direction of the responsible use of natural resources, checking the origins of the raw materials and ensuring traceability throughout the entire production process. This approach continues today, with a renewed committee on an international level. It was 1984 when Prof. Guglielmo Giordano ingeniously conceived a hardwood flooring of groundbreaking

TOR 43, the single disc machine that gave rise to a highly successful product line

The most effective answer to any cleaning needs T

MB was founded in 1980 as manufacturer of wet & dry vacuum cleaners and carpet extractors. Giancarlo Ruffo, the successful entrepreneur and charismatic owner of Comac, became interested in the company and acquired it in September 2000. In September 2011, the company was finally relocated from Lodi to the Ruffo family’s historical manufacturing site in San Giovanni Lupatoto, just outside Verona. This was a long awaited, strategic choice that marks an important milestone: TMB’s full integration into the Ruffo family’s brands both from a logistics and manufacturing point of view. In recent years TMB has developed several products in the commercial, professional and industrial field. The range includes industrial and commercial vacuum cleaners, wet&dry vacuum cleaners and single disc machines. A wide selection of accessories allows to customize each model to have always the most effective answer to any cleaning needs.

XXIV

It all began with the successful launch of TOR43, the forerunner of the orbital versions that were to follow. TMB developed a model capable of replacing the various versions available on the market today. The result was a single disc machine featuring characteristics particularly appreciated in heavy-duty applications, with the option of using a wealth of accessories for a vast range of different applications on all surface types, such as stoneware, marble, wood, granite, carpet floor and concrete. The machine thus attracted the attention of professionals specialised in treating the various surfaces. After TOR43 came TPO43, a more lightweight machine, again featuring orbital technology, dedicated to the professional cleaning sector. The power and comfort characteristics were adjusted on this version, with the most common applications for professional operators specifically in mind. TPO43 is covered by a number of patents, since it has introduced innovative technical solutions with respect to existing technology. Finally, 2018 saw the introduction of TFO43, positioned midway between the previous two versions. The systems adopted mean that TFO43 is highly versatile and compatible with the wide range of accessories available for all TMB orbital models. A dual-speed version was also made, to enhance performance and finish on granite and wood surfaces.

M1003 BAG is an industrial vacuum cleaner with a large container capacity suitable for continuous vacuuming of fine dust. The intake air opening is on the top of the machine while motors are housed outside and in a low position, allowing to use the entire container capacity, of 100 l and to work effectively even without a filter shaker. M1003 BAG is equipped with 3 motors that can be switched on separately, to adjust performances and consumptions to real cleaning needs. “The general sales trend for 2018 is more than satisfactory, both for export and in Italy. Of course, we should look at a more detailed analysis of the various markets, which differ for each country. Italy has proved particularly receptive to our company's innovative solutions in the sector of single disc machines and professional vacuum cleaners. Southeast Asia is always a difficult market for us Italians, since price still comes before any other factor and this is influenced by the Chinese. Whereas it should be noted that the European and American markets are making a positive recovery. With continued investment in innovation and a focus on the customer, we believe that the chances of a further increase in our product uptake in 2019 are overall good”. A GUIDE TO PURCHAISE

Stile, Smoked collection

HABITAT, simply wood Habitat by Garbelotto is the wood floor collection that preserves and enhances the natural and real essence of the wood, thanks to a full-cycle water varnishing treatment that makes the boards totally matt. The floor is natural: the shades and characteristics of the different wood species are not altered by finishing, which slows down their normal oxidation. To the touch the surface is soft and pleasant: walking barefoot on a floor of the Habitat line is a real sensory pleasure that accompanies our daily well-being. As all Garbelotto Wooden floors, Xilema is suitable for biobuilding, E1 certified for formaldehyde emission and 100% Made in Italy.

Old European Oak, the charm of the past

Osmo: Spray-Wax With Osmo Spray-Wax, a durable, low-maintenance and hardwearing surface is produced on stairs, furniture etc. It is particularly well-suited for applications in wet rooms, such as bathrooms and kitchens. Osmo SprayWax is based on natural vegetable oils and waxes, and once dry, it creates a water and dirt repellent surface. Apart from various gloss levels, e.g. matt or glossy, it is also available in the colours Black, White and Natural. The colour Natural produces a raw wood look on wood surfaces; dark elegant surfaces can be created with the colour Black Opaque. This wood finish is suitable for applications with Airless/Airmix, RP and HVLP spray pistols. On raw wood, two coats of Spray-Wax should be applied; for renovations one coat suffices.

This new proposal by Cadorin is in European Oak, one of the most used woods to create wooden floors thanks to its unmistakable veins that are further enhanced by craftsmanship and color finishes. In this case, the original antique finish gives the surface a color that gives the impression of having an "antique" wooden floor that comes from the past. Respect for the environment has always been a top priority for Cadorin: the Select European Oak used is a select wood that Cadorin favours with its MORE WOOD - FEWER KM logo. This means that the timber is sourced within a relatively short distance from the Cadorin production site (300- 700 km), thus helping to reduce the company’s carbon footprint by limiting the emission of greenhouse gases from its means of transport.

Digital direct print by KARL PEDROSS A crucial product that will have a lasting impact on the market in the future is the versatile and robust DIGITAL DIRECT PRINT, patented by Pedross. It is currently the most innovative technology on the market and exclusively available in the KARL PEDROSS production portfolio. Besides adding an unrestricted variety of patterns with a brilliant look and unique feel, the new system also allows printing on various base materials. Thus, every skirting board can be customized to individual customers’ needs. Furthermore, the UV-grain direct printing is not only UV and light resistant, even in direct sunlight, and therefore suitable for humid conditions, but adheres to the wood structure and prevents splintering during the cutting process.

Stile presents an entire collection made of brushed “smoked” Oak. This special treatment with reagents allows the tannins, naturally present in the wood, to colour and emphasize the grains and characteristics of the wood, creating new warm and intense shades. The collection is available in ten different colours, three different sizes and finished with Bona Naturale UV, and innovative finish that allows easy maintenance and local repairing, combining the natural feeling of an oiled finish with the high performances of a varnish.

ECOTRAFFIK 2K: the finish with hight durability ECOTRAFFIK 2K by Chimiver is a twocomponent water-based hight durability polyurethane finish for wooden floors, characterized by high solid content, easy to apply, high pore wettability even on brushed wood floors giving a warm and pleasant shade to the floor treated without changing its original color. ECOTRAFFIK 2K has high abrasion and black heel mark resistances allowing its use for high traffic surfaces.

Ground collection by Woodco Woodco presents Ground, the new collection of wooden floors that uses wood in its purest form to give life unprecedented, startling and evocative surfaces. Thanks to its accentuated materiality, the collection creates authentic spaces with a strong narrative value. On the one hand the knots and splits of the planks become decorative in themselves, bringing out the exuberance of wood. On the other, multiple match-ups between color and material create extraordinary visual effects that our sense of touch transforms into sensory experiences to be enjoyed every day.
