Dear BGCM friends,

i would like to welcome you to our 43rd annual steak n’ Burger dinner! steak n’ Burger has been bringing our Club members and supporters, like you, together to share a meal for 43 years. i encourage you to share your insight and listen to the many success stories from our many Club members of how the Boys & Girls Club has impacted their lives. of course all of these stories would not be possible if it were not for the wonderful staff and volunteers who work hard to make a difference in the lives of Memphis kids.

every day hundreds of kids from ages 6-18 count on our Clubs to provide an after-school meal, a caring mentor and computers to help with homework, intramural sports, art classes and a safe and positive place to achieve their full potential. in addition, our technical training Center provides our young adults ages 16-21 with career skills and training to be placed in local jobs and higher education.

Most importantly, all of these wonderful programs would not be possible if it were not for friends and supporters like you. you are the difference in the lives of our Club members. We sincerely thank you for all that you do for our kids. again, thank you for joining us. We hope you enjoy the evening and getting to know our kids just as much as they enjoy getting to know you! again, thank you for joining us. Dear steak n’ Burger guests, on behalf of the staff, volunteers and most importantly the kids of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis, thank you for your support of this life-changing organization. Because of your generosity, 120 kids representing our local six Clubs will not only enjoy a wonderful meal tonight, but they will walk away from this evening knowingthatsomeonecaresabouttheirsuccessandaccomplishmentswhichisthebestmotivationintheworld. i would like to thank my fellow board members and many community leaders and supporters that helped raise the funds needed to provide a safe and positive place for Memphis kids to achieve greatness. thank you for joining us tonight and supporting the work that we do.

Believe me. i know from first-hand experience. i attended the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis southside branch from age 9 until i went to college, and it was always a goal for us Club members to be selected to attend the steak n’ Burger dinner. i remember the year that i attended, i met a board member, tomeka hart, and she actually influenced me to become an attorney. Just meeting her and knowing that someone from my community was going to law school let me know that i could go to law school and be successful too. i am now an attorney because of that conversation at steak n’Burger. i hope you will take the time to talk to Club members at your table just like someone did for me.
