Sketches “A Surprising Egg” is a silent children’s picture book. I made the story wordless as it could be understood and enjoyed by children and adults around the world regardless of language.
The story is about a unique friendship between a pig and a chick. The pig accidentally meets a chick when she is cracking an egg. Although she was shocked at first, the chick melts her heart immediately. They treat each other as family and friends.
However, other pigs keep making fun of the chick’s appearance because he looks different from them. This deeply hurts his feelings and makes him decide to go to the Change Clinic.

In fact, the Change Clinic is like a plastic surgery clinic in our real world, but it is too realistic to mention plastic surgery in a book for children. Therefore, I name it "Change Clinic" to give readers some room for imagination.
There are some steps to change the chick's appearance into a pig. First, the doctor paints his skin color to pink. Next, the doctor helps him get a perm that makes his tail curly. Finally, the doctor brings him to the props room and helps him put on the pig costume.

The chick sucessfully makes himself look like a pig. When he goes home, the pig is so surprised and can’t even recognize him.
When the chick sees his reflection in the mirror, he finds that he is not happy with his new looking and realizes the importance of being himself. In the end, he turns back to the happy chick he used to be. They take pictures to memorize the moment they love themselves and each other.
The story also raises a series of questions that are worth discussing. For example, why many people care so much about how others think of them? Is it because they are eager to please others? Is it worth losing their thoughts, experiences, and feelings just because of others' comments?

I include two interactive flaps in the book. Readers can interact with the story by flipping through the pages.
