Thoughts are slow and deep and golden in the morning.

-John Steinbeck

Slow Why go slow? Slow is what allows you to see what surrounds you in full colour. You see the light and dark, the textures, curvature and rhythm of your environment. Slow is the tunnels, canyons and peaks in a loved one’s eyes, the variations of colour and the gradual and all together rapid dilation of the pupils. Slow is how, under the summer sun, as days go by your pigmentation deepens and you glow. Slow is those moments of travel time, when the music in your ears proves to be the perfect score for the world that is passing beyond the glass. Slow brings you heightened awareness of your surroundings, of your own position in the world and the importance of your cherished ones. Slow is a Sunday evening stroll when colours and emotions are deep. The times in which everything is beautifully clear and you wish the clock would stand still for just a moment longer. Slow is the seamless, cyclical evolution of the seasons, the miraculous growth of foliage and flora and its beautiful demise and decay in the autumn. Slow expects nothing and appreciates everything. Grounded and enriching, slow is practically simple, meaningful and necessary. A craftsman’s pride. Trial and error. Fresh produce and holistic baked goods, wholesome and enriching. Slow is meandering through gallery spaces and exhibitions, silence and stillness. Curiosity, inspiration coming in waves. Slow is cut and stitched, images combined from locations, eras and trends. The creation of a new aesthetic, visually stimulating and enticing.

Hourglass Time Piece by Hay

Do one thing at a time. Do it slowly and deliberately. Do it completely. Live simply. Do less. Develop rituals. Devote time to sitting. Think about what is necessary. Put space between things.

København Travel teaches us to understand and appreciate. Personal tastes develop and archives of unique memories are created. You leave, arrive and return with new opinions and momentarily see the world through rejuvenated eyes. Plans often go unfulfilled and new experiences and discoveries sprout from the occasions where you find yourself ‘lost’. Sometimes, people watching from a secluded sun drenched seat is all you need to pass the hours. Absorbing all that is new and never before seen. In a partnership with your camera and notebook, you are a cultural magpie. Find your inner glow and ignore your faults. It’s never too late to fall in love with Copenhagen. Here the light there is wonderful. Savour the journey, travel by train or boat or bicycle, or even on foot. Plug into the culture. A contemporary design paradise, filled with gems of interior and visual genius. Aesthetically and factually, Copenhagen the cleanest City in the world is characterized by a blend of thoughtfulness, pragmatism and creativity. Cyclists are the epitome of Nordic cool, composed in all black outfits of knit and denim, defence against the remaining winter winds. Take your time. Laugh and chat over belated breakfasts of Smørrebrøds, oatmeal topped with apples and flax seed or savoury barley risotto with ribbons of kale and pink, pickled radish. It is not often that you truly appreciate something in the present. It is only once you have gained an outsiders view that you are able to fully admire a place and imagine yourself in its inhabitant’s shoes. Taking home with you memories and traits to adopt and adapt to everyday life. Curiosity is key, leaving you wanting more. Ensuring that one day, a return journey will occur.

I felt very still and very empty, the way the eye of a tornado must feel, moving dully along in the middle of the surrounding hullabaloo.

Dearly beloved, Short Movie comes to life. Upon whoever ears it falls, I speak to you and my thoughts become ours. That union is my pleasure, one for which I am eternally grateful. Grief be a stranger to us all. Aye and ever.

Laura Marling

Laura Marling is the 25 year old British folk musician, who, for her most recent album ‘Short Movie’ has turned to a much more electric sound, to communicate her fully realised and poetically charged lyrics. Short Movie’s best songs are all about Marling’s ongoing voyage of self-discovery. Influenced by months of slowly travelling around America by herself, absorbing the works of mystical Chilean filmmaker and writer Alejandro Jodorowsky. After two and a half years in America, she came home to London just before Christmas, 2014. For Laura, doing yoga, getting high, learning tarot and meeting people whose lives were a radical contrast from anything she had ever known, has evidently given her a new breath of creative energy. Bringing elements of a Laurel Canyon aesthetic to her music and visuals. Marling has grown up on record, writing elliptical songs about inner lives and dreamscapes. One of the quietest and secluded recording artists of current times, Marling is undoubtedly one of the most talented. Marling is a key figure in a 20 percent rise in folk music sales in the UK over the past few years. With every successive album, she has sounded more accomplished, exploring tangents while remaining grounded in her versatile voice and excellent guitar playing and Short Movie performs this trick yet again. Her combination of her sonic identity with an equally as stunning personal style, visual composition and aesthetic, adds a whole new dimension to her music. Consisting of elaborate stories and transporting tales. www.lauramarling.com

Complimented by both Silver and Gold, Copper creates a triage of metallic tones come together to create a rich, complimentary aesthetic. Dusky, sugary shades and rich blues and greens combined with Copper provide an opportunity to reflect. Thoughtful positioning and coordination allow Copper to shine, reflect and enlighten, both visually and mentally. Crafted from a single rod of solid copper HAY’s ‘Lup’ candlestick is a contemporary take on the classic design. The rod has been bent to form the handle, allowing this piece to be used either as a traditional or hand held candlestick. www.hay.dk
