“Memories - both physical and psychological - are captured, collected and curated. Their essence is diluted down and edited, a mental archive of senses and emotions-.
Storytelling
“You buckle the leather chinstrap, tightly securing it against your clenched jaw line. The smooth and cool caress of the fabric that lines the interior of your helmet brushes past your wind-beaten cheeks.
Rachael Moore
“The countless hours that you have spent with grazed, oil covered hands, labouring, repairing and customising are all worth it in this moment. When the cool air around you hangs dark - heavy with anticipation.
Storytelling
“A single headlight. A solitary guide through the night. The responsibility hangs heavy, carving out the damp darkness that masks the route ahead. It swiftly catches a glimpse of the sleek sheen of soaked foliage at the road side.
Rachael Moore
“The roads oil-slicked black surface is drenched with the rainfall that fell an hour earlier, that which you narrowly avoided. Hypnotic, the painted white lines of road markings are a never-ending vanishing point in reverse.

A Using scenario planning and undertaking research exploring current cultural, sociological, political, economic factors and happenings, to produce original written and visual content, to communicate the following Home and Lifestyle trends for Spring/Summer 2016. ‘New Horizons’ (South America) ‘Wholesome’ (Health & Well Being) ‘Dwelling’ (Shared Homes) A keen interest in the Home & Interiors industries allowed me to explore this brief in detail. Using relevant research methods and platforms to explore trend drivers and to construct and predict thought provoking, unique scenarios with both creative and commercial value.

Pampa Rugs from South America
Globalisation brings South American design to the fore front, as this continent enters a new age of financial and cultural power. The eyes of the world are on Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Gentrification leads to growth within cultural capitals such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bogota, Buenos Aires and Caracas. Cultural Mavens seek a sense of something exotic, innovative and never before experienced. Modern craftsmanship sees meticulous working of quality materials such as Copper, Terrazzo and Basalt. The mix of traditional, ancient craft practices and modern design forms appeal to both nostalgic and futuristic minds.

Homes will have character and be used for escapism and adventure, not just existing. Hanging planters or greenery embedded in bookshelves combine serene elements of nature with contemporary aesthetics. Nourishing your mind body and soul with good food, sleep, music, role models, film and art will be a way of life in 2016. Fad diets are replaced by lifelong healthy living choices, such as Vegan diets. There is controversy surrounding the ethical environmental issues facing the food production industries. In 2016, transparent views stem from the realisation of how edited and false modern life has become, both on- and offline.

Sharing food and drink will become a enjoyable daily ritual, a time to relax and reconnect with one another, much as it was in the past. Products will be crafted that enhance the sharing experience, such as brewing and drinking tea/coffee slowly, almost like a ritual. Multifunctional and customisable products and storage solutions will serve many purposes and enhance communal living arrangements. Homes will be filled with integrated features, functions that are hidden until needed and elements that surprise and delight. In 2016, we reuse existing objects, hand down garments and only purchase possessions to last a lifetime. Social spaces will become more important in the age of compact living, as will the presence of good interior design.
