This playhouse is designed as a combination of two geometric shapes that vary in size, creating a different user experience within every variation. As a model that can be placed anywhere and can be used by any user group, This was an experiment to play with scale and size. This playhouse is an experience of light and tight spaces with surprises.

CAMPUS DESIGN

This project was a part of my 7th semester in college, where I designed a design school for undergrads. The drawing here shows the academic block, which is only a part of the entire campus. It is a double storied building that can accoomodate upto 800 students. It operates around two central courtyards that act as the bearers of light and breeze. While the ground floor accomodates UG students, the second floor has PG students.

A mill board model I made of the entire academic block, to observe the play of light and check ventilation.

It helped me understand the importance of the courtyard spaces.

Here are a couple of drawings that are a part of my Thesis project which is about a Farm school. This school was sprawled over 3 acres of land on the foothills of a mountain in Vijaynagaram. Along with multiple classrooms, it also had an administration department, hostels, library, auditorium and multiple open spaces.

I decided to showcase a small part of my whole thesis presentation here only to appriciate the all time classic aesthetic of black and white, and to show a sense of composition

Comparative Analysis : Comparative Analysis :

As a part of my Thesis project - Farm school, here is an analysis I did in order to understand existing schools better. Here we will be looking at the qualitative comparison between the two case studies and two desktop studies that have been done, in terms of experience and observations.

DS1 - Desktop study 1

DS2 - Desktop study 2

CS1 - Case study 1

CS2 - Case study 2

The user group of all these 4 places

The site is located on a hilly terrain, hence the structure will be designed in such a way that it adopts the contours as a part of itself.

The topography of the chosen site will be done to support the idea of a farm school

From the context of a site as a whole, it will be divided broadly into school, play and residence.

As the structure is located along the contours of the hill, every morning, light flushes into all parts of the building. Considering the wind flow direction, there is no structure that obstructs it, and there will be intermediate spaces that make the whole place

Social media, branding and

product photography

Vedas foods is a South Indian pickle and powder brand. I worked with them to establish an online presence, develop an active and running social media, make brochures, banners and pamplets for every event, and also shoot their products.

This experience helped me gather knowledge of product photography, website development, and understanding the food market. This project was also my introduction to social media and marketing.

I worked at Hashtag Outlines which happens to be a multidisciplinary design studio that makes entirely handmade books and other stationary items. During my time there I gathered experience in Illustrating, book making, product photography, stopmotion animation and social media.

On the right is a pictorial representation of one of the products - calender cards - that I worked on ideating, executing and photographing.

Luckily, I got the chance to be the illustrator for the first ever deck of cards to be printed and sold - January 2021 - by Radha

13

These set of five cards have illustrations on one side and a calender space to plan out your weekly schedule on the back. Along with this deck came a small card, with a personal note from the artist. Working on this project gave me the exposure to coordinate, manage artists and work on deliveries.

Greetings kind friend,

Upon discovering my ability to use art as a medium to communicate my experience with life, I decided one day that I will not try to put something on paper, but rather allow myself to spill on paper. In this act, there is no space for thought and planning. There is only you being an open door, and allowing an exchange of inside and outside to happen. The art work on these cards were done at various moments in my life, where I felt few intense emotions flowing through me that took the form of colour and shape.

I hope that you encounter many moments in this life, where you blur the line of who you are and make inside and outside as one.

My long term interest in embroidery finally took form here, where we designed jute pouches. Our idea was to add character to a normal looking jute pouch, with a circle on it which was either colourful or done with black thread. The customer gets to pick what they think matches their personality.

This pouchwas my starting point to work with thread and cloth. Eventually, what was only an interest has now diversified into working with cloth to make handstitched bags, embroidered badges and cloth board games.

Life at school

Working with children has been a wish of mine, but to be able to do it for more than a year in a very beautiful valley among the hills of Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu was nothing short of a dream . My everyday involved very diverse activities like organic farming, teaching Art, Social studies, English and junior Math, cleaning, taking long walks, constantly intercating with children and making sure everything is in order.

Throughout my time there, along with working as a full time residential teacher, I also lead a group in a building construction project to build a bamboo wall, designed and executed their annual school magazine, grow a ton of vegetables and work as their social media manager and content creator. Overall, this work experience has taught be manageral skills, made me more confident and helped me learn to live within a community.

A photo journal of all things in the palm of my hand

August in my hand

16
In August I lived in a forest. I took my phone along with me. This enabled me take pictures of all the things that made their way into my hand. This book is a trip down memory lane, recalling all things big and small from that forest. A series of events that happened in August 2021, that somehow made their way into my palm.
