WHAT TO WATCH FOR

SATURDAY // 11 AM CT // CBSSN

• Army's first conference game as a member of the American.

• Florida Atlantic is 0-1, but the Owls hung in against Michigan State in week one – falling 16-10 against the Big Ten foe.

• The Black Knights beat Lehigh 42-7 in their first contest. As is customary, they had a lot of success on the ground – rushing for 375 yards. Noah Short (83 yards), Bryson Daily (78) and Kanye Udoh (75) led the balanced attack.

• The Owls defense held the Spartans to 293 yards of offense, including just 114 passing yards.

SATURDAY

// 6:30 PM CT // NBC

• This old Big Eight rivalry should be a fun one this weekend, as both teams are trying to prove where they stand early in the season.

• The Buffs feature two of the best players in the country – QB Shedeur Sanders (455 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT) and WR/CB Travis Hunter (7 rec for 132 yards and 3 TDs / 3 solo tackles on 77 defensive snaps).

• Nebraska might have their best QB since the days of Eric Crouch in Dylan Raiola. The true freshman was 19/27 for 238 yards and 2 TDs in his first collegiate game – including some ridiculous throws

SATURDAY // 9:30 PM CT // ESPN

Very interesting out-of-conference matchup, as Mississippi State travels cross-country to face the Sun Devils.

• Arizona State, in year two under HC Kenny Dillingham, started strong against Wyoming last week. They were just 6.5-point favorites but trounced the Cowboys, 48-7. The Sun Devils racked up 499 yards of offense and allowed just 40 yards rushing on 32 carries.

• MSU, in year one under HC Jeff Lebby, beat Eastern Kentucky 56-7 last week and compiled 450 yards of offense on just 57 plays.

SATURDAY

// 2:30 PM CT // ESPN2

• Cal will need to get used to traveling cross-country in the ACC, but this week they travel to the southeast to take on an opponent from a different conference – the SEC.

• These two teams met in Berkeley a year ago, as Auburn scored late to earn a 14-10 victory.

• The Golden Bears defeated UC Davis 31-13 a week ago. They mustered just 281 yards of offense, but they return a good crop of talent on that side of the ball. Starting QB Fernando Mendoza, star RB Jaydn Ott, and their 2nd and 3rd leading receivers – WR Trond Grizzell and TE Jack Endries all return.

SATURDAY // 9 PM CT // FOX

• Two teams that lit up the scoreboard against FCS opponents in week one. Washington State trounced Portland State, 70-30, while Texas Tech survived a scare in overtime, 52-51, against Abilene Christian.

• Both QBs went for over 350 yards and threw 5 TDs apiece. WSU QB John Mateer went 11/17 for 352 yards, while TTU QB and 2023 I-Bowl Offensive MVP, Behren Morton, went 30/42 for 378 yards. Washington State added 224 rushing yards – 96 from Wayshawn Parker to lead the pack. Tahj Brooks toted the rock 27 times for 153 yards for TTU.

SATURDAY // 9:30 PM CT // CBSSN

Both programs under new head coaches, as Oregon State welcomed HC Trent Bray, while San Diego State welcomed former Colorado OC Sean Lewis as their HC.

• OSU starts the Mountain West part of their schedule after defeating Idaho State, 38-15.

• Beavers' Jam Griffin rushed for 160 yards and Anthony Hankerson went for 155 rushing yards. Both RBs scored TDs in week one.

• OSU defense will have its hands full against the Aztecs and Lewis's high-octane offense. They went for 468 yards on 73 plays last week.
