WHAT TO WATCH FOR

• Stanford's first conference game as an ACC member.

• The Stanford defense ranks in the top 10 in rush defense through two games vs. TCU and Cal Poly. Cardinal fell by a TD to TCU before beating Cal Poly 41-7 last week.

• Syracuse is off to a great start to the Fran Brown era – defeating Ohio and #23 Georgia Tech.

• The Orange rank 3rd in the country in pass yards per game (367.5). Ohio State transfer Kyle McCord has 735 yards, 8 TDs and 1 INT through two games. Face a Stanford defense that allowed 353 passing yards to TCU QB Josh Hoover in week one.

• The Sun Devils head back to Texas for the second straight week after defeating Texas State 31-28 in San Marcos in a nail-biter last week.

• Arizona State is looking for their first 4-0 start since 2016 – a year after finishing the season 3-9.

• ASU ranks 19th in the country in rushing yards per game (229.3), helping lead their offense to 38.3 points per game.

• Texas Tech and QB Behren Morton have used one of the best passing attacks in the country to score 44.7 points per game. The Red Raiders rank 4th in the country with 358.3 passing yards per game.

Colorado's Big 12 Conference opener.

• Both teams coming off of bounce back wins in week three.

• Colorado is a top 10 passing team in the country (333 yards/game). They face a Baylor defense that ranks 16th in the nation in points against (9.7/game).

• The Buffs defense has improved each week. They held Colorado State to 340 yards and 9 points last week.

• After struggling offensively week two vs. Utah, Baylor racked up 478 yards, including 230 rushing on 6.1 yards per carry) in their 31-3 win over Air Force last week.

• Washington State coming off of a big Apple Cup win over Washington. Facing a 3-0 SJSU in first year under HC Ken Niumatalolo. Wazzu QB John Mateer has been great through three games. He has 712 yards passing to go with a team-high 314 rushing yards and 11 total TDs. He is spreading the ball around, as three WRs have over 150 yards – Kyle Williams (184), Kris Hutson (176) and Josh Meredith (165).

• The Cougs have the 16th highest-scoring offense (43.7 points per game) and rank 8th in the FBS in yards per play (8.0).

• Washington's Big Ten opener in their first year in the conference. UW has won 16 straight games at Husky Stadium.

• Huskies QB Will Rogers (Mississippi State transfer) has 825 yards and 6 TDs through three games. UW ranks 20th in the nation in passing per game (306.7 yards).

• Washington averaged 12.5 yards per reception in last week's 24-19 loss to Wazzu – hitting eight passes of 15 yards of longer.

Northwestern is averaging 161.7 yards per game rushing, but Washington just held Wazzu's good rushing attack to 136 rushing yards.

Two teams looking to bounce back after losses to ranked teams last week.

• The Beavers have a great rushing attack, as they average 243.3 yards per game (17th in the country).

• Oregon State's defense was impressive the first two weeks, allowing just 15 total points in two games. They got ambushed last week by a very good Oregon offense, but they look to bounce back this week vs. a Purdue team that mustered only 7 points vs. Notre Dame last week.

• The Beavs have two RBs over 275 rushing yards –Anthony Hankerson (283) and Jam Griffin (276).

ALUMNI IN THE NFL

BY THE NUMBERS: INDEPENDENCE BOWL ALUMNI IN THE NFL

Over $48 million in extensions have been signed by Independence Bowl alumni –both members of the 2018 Duke team – in September. Jets CB Michael Carter II signed a three-year, $30.75 million extension on September 3, while Chiefs TE Noah Gray signed a threeyear, $18 million extension on September 5.

Bengals rookie punter Ryan Rehkow (BYU, 2021) is averaging 59.3 yards per punt this season, which ranks first in the NFL. He also has the longest punt in the NFL season –booming an 80 yarder.

Bills DE Greg Rousseau (Miami, 2019) has four tackles-for-loss this season, which has him tied for third in the NFL in that category. The blossoming edge rusher racked up three sacks in the Bills game. His teammate and edge rusher on the other side is Von Miller (Texas A&M, 2009) who played his 175th NFL game this past weekend. Miller has two sacks in the first two games of the season.

Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds was a monster this past weekend vs. the Houston Texans. Edmunds (Virginia Tech, 2015) racked up 11 combined tackles and had one sack. His sack is one of nine sacks that Independence Bowl alumni have in the first two games of the 2024 NFL season.

The deadline to renew was Wednesday, July 31st. To guarantee your seats, you can pay for your tickets via phone, by mail, email, or in person at our main office before the ticket reservation deadline, Wednesday, November 27, to guarantee your same seats for the 2024 game. After the ticket reservation deadline, all seats will be released for public sale.
