ABOUT ME SKILLS

I am a fourth year architecture student at Iowa State University with a anticipated graduation in May 2025. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing racquet sports, creating, designing, and problem-solving. I am looking for an internship to gain handson experience in the workforce, expand upon my design abilities, and better my understanding of the design process of architecture.

HEIGHTENED VALLEYS

Visitor Center

Ledges State Park, IA

Fall 2022

Instructor: Consuelo Nuñez Ciuffa

Collaborators: Zina (Zee) Kaissi + Alejandra Goodwin

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Ledges State Park in Madrid, Iowa, is one of the most historic and unique nature destinations to visit and explore the remains of what the last ice age has left in Iowa. From deep creeks to towering sandstone cliffs, there is much natural beauty to explore in Madrid. Heightened Valleys aims to bridge the connection of architecture and landscape in relevance to the site. By mimicking and excavating the land,

the architecture lets users experience the most exciting parts of the topography at all heights, whether above the tree canopy, floating over the creeks, or immersed in the land itself. The space allows researchers to house their working demands and be adapted to host the public to share their findings, all while providing landscape views.

UNITY CRAFT

Section 8 Housing Apt.

Des Moines, IA

Spring 2023

Instructors: Ayodele Iyanalu + Rod Kruse

Collaborator: Kyle Petersen

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Unity Craft is a Section 8 Housing Apartment in Des Moines, Iowa. It features a craft center where the community can express themselves via different art forms and take lessons hosted by experts in their art field. The leading focus group the craft center is designed for is the patients of UnityPoint Hospital, as we found that older citizens and local minorities want this type of outlet. Above the craft center is a hydroponics lab so the residents can grow fresh food on site.

The apartments come in single, family, or co-living units with a unique six-bed apartment to encourage shared living space. They have access to community spaces, which have computers, gathering spaces for reservation, and privacy if residents wish to host events for family and friends. Overall, Unity Craft provides for the low-income community with offering affordable housing, recreational crafts, sustainable food systems, and green space for outdoor activities.
