A Mess age From RAFFL We are pleased to present to you an overview of the Rutland Area Farm and Food Link’s 2012 activities and financial information. We are influencing the way local food is valued, how people find it, and who benefits. Our mission mandates us to look at the food system as a whole – both from the farmers’ perspective and the customers’ perspective. Holding this dual purpose in mind, our programs work on both sides of this supply and demand equation. We are proactive in our work as we:

Create connections Build capacity Ensure equity But it doesn’t end there. RAFFL has a leadership role throughout Vermont. We ensure Rutland County is part of the bigger picture by connecting us to the Vermont Farm to Plate Network. In addition, through creative partnerships, RAFFL actively collaborates with a number of organizations locally and statewide. You can count on us to continue operating efficiently and effectively to create a positive future for agriculture in our region.

With a small start-up farm of her own and a background in animal science, Garland is passionate about assisting beginning and aspiring farmers and helping to maintain Rutland County’s working landscape. Garland had previously worked with RAFFL coordinating Grow-aRow, RAFFL’s food access and gleaning program from 2010-2012. Jill is currently overseeing production of RAFFL’s 2013 Locally Grown Guide. Jill has been involved in local agriculture as a farmer and a writer for more than 10 years. She and her husband are starting Little Lake Orchard in Wells where they raise fruit trees, field crops, pigs, and a small child.

Steve Peters

Steve manages RAFFL’s communications and marketing, as well as the Everyday Chef program, where he teaches people how to cook with and eat seasonal and healthy foods. In his free time he bakes, writes, travels, works in his vegetable garden, and cooks, of course.

Elizabeth Theriault

Elizabeth manages the organization’s public awareness initiatives as well as the volunteer & internship program. She has masters degrees in public health and social work and her true passion lies in working with communities around health, nutrition and sustainability.
