CSA School There are now an estimated 6,500 US farms offering Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, each one uniquely tailored to the resources of the individual farm and the needs of the community.

As the public has embraced CSAs, both competition and challenges have increased. To succeed at a CSA, farmers need to keep pace with changing technology and consumer needs. Presenter Michael Kilpatrick will lead you through the elements of designing and maintaining a successful CSA. A panel of local growers will discuss their experiences in running CSAs. The day includes the following topics: Determining if a CSA is right for your farm Specific steps in starting one Hallmarks of a successful CSA Product selection Crafting a share Pricing and marketing your CSA Recordkeeping—how much, how best to do it Scheduling and ordering (traditional and online) Pick up and delivery Challenges of a winter CSA.
