Inauguration of MBA Batch 2016-18

The function was presided by

Sri. N R Panditharadhya, President of SET. Dr. K B Akhilesh inaugurated and addressed the gathering. He started with an introduction to IISc and stressed on the legacy of 106 years of IISc. He said that Management education is playing critical role in the development of the country.Along with development maintaining culture of the country is also important. Amazing transformation is taking place even in the field of Management education. Coping with change is major challenge for today’s managers. Earlier Gandhiji had said “remove Untouchability” but today people have to become “Untouchable” only through hard work, knowledge we can become distinct. He inspired MBA students to manage time most efficiently. In this regard, making to do list and reviewing the list everyday can be helpful. One has to make billable hours to oneself. It helps in focusing on important things. He motivated students to make the best use of their abilities, excel in whatever they do. They should aim for physical best, intellectual best and also emotional best. As managers they need to give sincere appreciation, spread positive energy and help each other.

Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus visited Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies on 6th February, 2017. As a part of Silver Jubilee Celebration of Seshadripuram First Grade College, Mr. Muhammad Yunus was invited by Seshadripuram Educational Trust to share his experience among youth.

First time in the history of Seshadripuram Educational Trust, a Nobel Laureate visited their campus. He shared his journey of the beginning of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh. Raman Magsaysay Awarded,

Mr. Yunus started his address by initiating thoughts on the application of Economics in day to day life. It is all about how Economics can be made useful for solving social problems. He resigned his job as a Professor and initiated his work from a village in Bangladesh. After he got familiar with villagers, he discovered that rural people were suffering with money charting. He thought of lending money to villagers by himself. It worked and in 1976, he created Grameen Bank. It expanded within short span of time. At present, it has 97% of women as a part of it. He further threw light on how he didn’t accept the rules of banking. He quoted the difference between his bank and other banks. He concluded with the message to students on the power of imagination, becoming innovative and unleashing the power within. He requested the students to create the world for themselves and for that a tiny little idea is needed.
