Informa Markets Announces Patrick Martell to Become CEO in 2023, Charlie McCurdy to Step Into Informa Group Strategic Advisory Role

Informa Markets has confirmed that CEO Charlie McCurdy, who joined Informa in 2015, will move into a new role as strategic advisor to Informa Group in 2023. Effective 1 January 2023, Patrick Martell, current CEO of Informa Intelligence and COO of Informa Group, will assume the role of Informa Markets’ CEO, while continuing in his role as Group COO. Charlie McCurdy is a renowned leader in the exhibitions industry, having spent 35 years leading B2B events and media businesses, including the last seven as CEO of Informa Markets, the world’s leading business-to-business exhibitions and market access business. He has overseen Informa Markets through the company’s acquisition of Penton Information Services, the YPI boat show business, and the landmark UBM acquisition. He also led Informa Markets through the pandemic, helping to identify new digital solutions and emerging data opportunities, while building the exhibitions business back to strength throughout 2021 and into 2022.

GSMA Announces The Extension Of The World’s Leading Mobile Technologies Congress In Barcelona

GSMA, the organiser of Mobile World Congress MWC, has announced the extension of MWC Barcelona in the Catalan capital through 2030. The chairman of the board of directors of Fira de Barcelona, Pau Relat, thanked "the GSMA for its trust in the city, in Fira de Barcelona and in a joint project in which cooperation between all the institutions involved." Since its arrival in Barcelona in 2006 under the name 3GSM World Congress, the leading international event in the field of technology and communications has grown steadily and turned the Catalan capital into a global technology hub. GSMA studies estimate the economic impact of MWC Barcelona in the city over the last 17 years at more than 5.3 billion euros and over 140,000 jobs created. In addition, the establishment of the Mobile World Capital Barcelona in 2011 has enhanced the event’ s legacy in the city, extending it throughout the year and positioning Barcelona as one of Europe’s leading technology hubs.

IISE 2022 Showcase Modern Equipments

Hyve To Sell Ukrainian Business In Management Buy-out

British exhibitions group Hyve is selling its Ukrainian unit to a group led by Anatoly Sushon, the Ukrainian business ' managing director, as events in the country continue to be on hold following Russia's invasion. The decision comes over three months after Hyve said it would sell its Russian business, citing warnings from customers that they would boycott its Western events if it continued to operate in the country. "Both parties believe that by transitioning ownership to the experienced and committed local management team, the business will have the agility to recover for the future," Hyve's Chief Executive Officer Mark Shashoua said. Hyve said it would receive up to 3 million pounds ($3.59 million) from the sale, which will be paid annually until September 2027 based on the Ukrainian operations' profitability.
