Based in a re-purposed wool shed with a sun-soaked deck, overlooking rolling green hills amongst toetoe and manuka, take in the stunning views while you sip your coffee. There is plenty of seating, inside and out and the large lawn gives room for the kids to play.

Our menu reflects the staff, welcoming to all. Made up of classics done right and original flavours you’ll want to try. We also offer a kid’s menu with all the favourites, and even welcome dogs on the deck and lawn. Our considerate staff will provide water for your pooch.

Support for local business is key at Rock-It. Try the locally owned craft beers from Raglan Brewery Co or Workshop Brewing Raglan, or have your favourite coffee made by our baristas with locally roasted coffee from Coaster Coffee.

Rock-It Kitchen will happily host your next birthday party, corporate event, or a wedding to remember. Combine your next kayak adventure through the Raglan Harbour with a pit-stop at the restaurant, as a tidal stream runs from the main harbour right into the back garden.

There is occasionally live music on weekends so keep an eye out for any events on Facebook & Instagram.

Rock-It Kitchen offers breakfast, lunch all year round, and dinner over the peak summer months, professional yet friendly staff and a good time for all. Rock-It Kitchen is a breath of fresh air with a breath-taking view - the perfect place to spend your summer days.

Workshop Brewing was opened in 2019 by Matt, Jake and Bruno. Our philosophy is to create quality locally brewed beer and other tasty alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for our community and visitors to WhĀingaroa.

Sustainability and waste reduction are central to our thinking so we encourage visitors to use our “re-fillery” where you can sample our core range offerings andand fillfill youryour re-usablere-usable vesselsvessels freshfresh fromfrom ourour taps.taps. If you don’t have a vessel, don’t worry, you can purchase one of our cool 1L or 2L Workshop growlers. We also have an ever-changing variety of small-batch seasonal beer and fruit spritzer creations – all made right here from locally harvested fruit and only available from our brewery. We even have in-house seasonal kombucha and non-alcoholic fruit sodas on tap. Oh, and if you happen to buy a six pack of beer from our display fridge, the pack holders are reusable, which means you can drop them straight back to us and they'll likely be back on the shelf the next day. A MORNING GLORY STORY

Charged with finding the most delicious and healthy coffee on behalf of our beloved Raglan coffee drinkers, Paul Peterson - Founder of Morning Glory Organic Coffee set off to Indonesia in search of its finest tasting treats.

Not only did the coffee need to be mind blowingly delicious, it was just as important to verify the plantations growing conditions and the social aspect of these plantations.

Immediately after arriving in Java, charged on 3 cups of coffee and a vision, Paul and Indonesian local, Lukas Ondrisak from Divine Spices, hit the road and drove 6 hrs into the mountains of the Padhang Mbulan organic coffee plantation. Operated under the guardianship of 3rd generation coffee farmer and now friend Mas Dedik.

Heading up the steep trail on motorbike it didn’t look like a typical plantation monoculture, they were surrounded by mango, avocado, pine, cacao and most importantly, glowing in it’s beautiful glory COFFEE and not an ounce of chemicals to be found.

The clarity and quality of air was sweet and the peaceful vibrations from the birdsong to the animal sounds were soothing and reassuring. Paul knew he had found something special.

After a few days on the Padhang Mbulan plantation cupping this beautiful coffee with Mas Dedik and his family they set off to the Argopuro Mountains in east Java. Another marathon drive through small village roads brought them to the warm greeting from Muhlis, head of Argopura Coffee and Co-op. A much larger operation the Argopua Social Enterprise employs nearly half of the local villagers. They built a school to educate the 800 local youth while the parents work for double the local wage planting, picking, processing and marketing coffee grown on their villages biodynamic mixed species plantation.

Not a single nutrient leaves the cycle. Paul learned about their advanced organic biological processing techniques, such as carbonic masseration, anaerobic lactic fermentation, specifically coffee strains like orange bourbon and cupping scores in the pushing 90! He knew he had found a true coffee guru but the cherry on the top (no pun intended) was hearing about all the social projects they do. Not only do they provide the livelihood of half the village at double the conventional wage, they have built and run a school of 800 students where they donate 40% of profits to.

These students then study education or agronomy at university and return to apply their new knowledge and skills in the community enterprise. Definitely a kaupapa Paul felt like supporting.

Looking for fair trade and organic - Paul found something beyond sustainability, regeneration, and ecological and social level.

This direct trade single source coffee is arriving to Raglan in the next week ready for summer.

Pop into INDI Cafe and try a brew. It will also be available online through www.morningglory.co.nz

THIS NEW INITIATIVE HAS TRANSFORMED RAGLAN’S TINIEST SHOP USED BY MANY DIFFERENT CREATIVES & FOODIES

Donburi

chicken katsu-meshi

Most know it as the “old bread shop” or the “Tiny Shop”. A 2.8sqm shop squeezed between Trade Aid and Bohemian Gypsy in Bow Street.

Don’t be fooled by it’s size, this community space has been the catalyst for some huge inspiration, initiatives and artistic creation !

The Tiny Shop is used by many creatives/foodies during the week, in return they make a donation to use the space. These generous donations are then distributed back into the community.

“We want that real community feel and gathering of people,” says Jono. “It’s our contribution to maintaining Raglan’s magic!”

We are always looking for more people from Whaingaroa, creatives/foodies to join in the fun. Please like our page to be kept up to date.
