Focusing on painting is a form of meditation for me and where I find myself the happiest and most energised.
Not really knowing what will pour out onto the canvas keeps me excited to paint every time I pick up the brush.
“I’m obsessed with pushing paint, there are few things more fulfilling in life.”
All welcome, stop by and take a look at our new Studio Gallery open this Summer. Paintings by Ross Thornton Jones and Woodwork by Isa June :)

BY GERALDINE BURNS
Geraldine Burns is a local artist who creates exclusive, professionally framed photographic artworks. Her style, often described as poetic and ‘having a quiet eye’ - Geraldine captures a mood and a sense of ‘being there’.
Over the past few years Geraldine has made a return to film photography - the art she learnt back in her school days. She has enjoyed the slower pace of film, taking more time to take the photo itself and taking less photos too.
Work created from 2019 are one-offs - exclusive fine art photography in a ‘more is more’ world. Geraldine holds regular exhibitions of her work and has a number of pieces available to buy - visit her website to see work that is currently for sale.
Geraldine is available for commissioned work and would love to meet with you to view your space and talk about what you might like.

ARTISAN CHEF’S KNIVES
Making knives from raw steel by hand is an ancient artisan craft. My hobby is cooking – so guess why I make Chef’s knives?
I love the challenge that comes with each blade and I still have not decided yet what is the more satisfying element of this work: drafting the design, then making the blade and working with hand-forged Damascus steel and brass or creating handles, blade guards and gift boxes from NZ native and exotic wood.
The “One And Only” knife is waiting for you in my studio in beautiful Moonlight Bay.

Now I may be living in a muddy bubble, but it seems like everyone and their dog are getting into the pottery vibe! To acknowledge this, we’re hosting the first ever Best West Clay Fest. (Words by Sarah Bing, ceramic sculptor)
This family fun day is all about celebrating local talent, sharing just what is so good about clay and having some creative fun with the community.
We’ve got a lineup of local superstars selling their work in the ceramics market. Join our free community art project with a big pile of clay for everyone to get stuck in - making a village out of local mud. Check out the display of the process clay goes through to become the bowl you eat your brekkie in. For some muddy inspiration visit the pottery wheel and handbuilding demonstrations. Watch or enter the Clay-lympics with events like pull the longest handle or throw the tallest cylinder. And of course enjoy food, fresh juices, and tunes.
Can’t wait to see you there!
