What an exciting time this has been for the Foxcroft community. Our faculty and students kicked off the year holding our Sunrise Service on the new courtyard in front of Audrey Bruce Currier Library and made their way to classes in Schoolhouse along new sidewalks, both of which are attractive and safe additions to our campus. During the year, our students took new classes, such as AP Computer Science A, Animal Science, Literary Nonfiction, Artist’s Portfolio, and Digital Design & Fabrication, and several began the Academic Concentrations program in STEM, Animal Science, Global Studies, and the Arts, resulting in five seniors earning Concentration designations in this inaugural year. Looking ahead, our students will enjoy the two new SMART Boards funded by the proceeds raised at the fall Parents’ Association Auction. Now all our classrooms will have the same technology! During Wintermission, students gave back to the community on a week-long service trip in Washington, DC, and others learned about local history by visiting area sites or sustainable gardening and composting, among many engaging hands-on courses. Throughout the year, we welcomed 21 speakers and performers, including Michelle Poler (100 Days Without Fear) and Rachel Martin (NPR), our Alison Harrison Goodyear Fellowship speakers, and wearable artist Mo Regulinski and songwriter Clark Hansbarger, our Helen Cudahy Niblack ’42 Arts Lecture Series speakers. We celebrated our second Arts Weekend in April, with workshops and senior art shows, and were swept away by the cast’s energy in the musical Legally Blonde, one of two mainstage performances this year. And we enjoyed dining together on delicious and healthy meals in our spruced up Dining Hall. Our sports teams got to play on our new turf fields, and now that we have a practice track, we were able to offer a spring track option. The team had an outstanding season, with 13 athletes qualifying

for States. Both our field hockey and lacrosse teams advanced to the State Tournaments, hockey winning runner-up! Faculty and administrators continue to grow and lead throughout the year, supported with a robust professional development program. Three faculty were awarded Kenan Grants for summer sabbaticals; one faculty member is pursuing her doctorate, and 22 administrators, faculty, and staff are taking courses, attending conferences, or participating in institutes this summer. Foxcroft is also well represented at education association conferences and on regional and national boards. We closed the 2018–19 school year by celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2019 at Commencement in Miss Charlotte’s Garden, which benefited from the installation of new French drains! These learning opportunities and campus enhancements would not be possible without your financial support. As you are aware, tuition alone does not cover Foxcroft’s annual expenses. We rely on you—alumnae, parents, and friends—to give each year to The Foxcroft Circle. Your gifts support everything from financial aid to lightbulbs; from running our vans on weekend trips to mowing the grass. Your gifts show you believe in the mission of the School and the people who make up the Foxcroft community, primarily our girls and their teachers. Together, we have great reason to be proud and to celebrate! With gratitude for your support,
Catherine S. McGehee Head of School
The recent Commencement in Miss Charlotte’s Garden evoked reflection of the past four years and excitement for the future. In this spirit, the end of the school year is a great time to acknowledge Foxcroft’s recent accomplishments as well as look to our future opportunities. Our School’s mission, to help every girl explore her unique voice and to develop the skills, confidence, and courage to share it with the world, is always at the forefront of our work as Trustees. Our Strategic Plan guides us as a Board, with our primary focus on advancing our financial model and enhancing our uncommonly beautiful campus and facilities to support our mission. Over the past five years, we have continued to strengthen our financial foundation while at the same time we have held tuition at or below inflation, provided scholarships and financial aid to 39% of our student body, increased salaries, and kept up with the maintenance and repairs of 47 buildings and 500 acres. Enhancements to our campus include the new multi-sport turf fields on which students have excelled in field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and softball. The experience on the regulation size turf fields prepare our graduates to play competitively at the collegiate level. While the turf fields are the most visible improvement, repairs and replacements have been made to sidewalks, courtyards, the Dining Hall, Audrey Bruce Currier Library, and faculty housing. These campus improvements enrich the environment in which our students and employees live, grow, and thrive. To this end, the Board continues to review and update our policies to ensure a safe school and work environment.
Looking forward, the Board is in the beginning stages of planning for the renovation of Schoolhouse and the Music Building as well as additional performing arts space. As part of this preparation, we will update our Strategic Plan over the next year to include these renovations and the associated fundraising for it. This is an exciting endeavor that will help ensure an exceptional experience for multiple generations of students. Of course, none of this would be possible without your past support of the Centennial Campaign, and your current and future support of the Schoolhouse/Performing Arts Project, the Endowment, and The Foxcroft Circle. We look forward to sharing more with you as our plans develop and welcome your input at various stages of this project. Thank you for your gifts of time, talent, and treasure that are so vital to the health and wellbeing of our School. Warmly,
Anne Michele Lyons Kuhns '87 Chair, Board of Trustees

exceptional curriculum. Students benefit not only from the breadth of course offerings and depth of course content in the classroom, but also from experiential learning and internship and community service opportunities outside the classroom.
We would also like to applaud the growing involvement of our Young Alumnae (those who graduated within the last 15 years) for their enthusiasm in #GivingTuesday, the Young Alumnae Archival Photo Challenge, and Reunion giving. They have increased their support to The Foxcroft Circle by 3.3% since last year—our highest rate of alumnae growth. We are grateful to the Board of Trustees who truly lead by example, with 100% participation, and who continue to be phenomenal ambassadors for the School both on and off campus. Thank you to the more than 750 alumnae, parents, and friends who came together to make all of this possible. Your support benefits every student, every day and enables Foxcroft to thrive!

Turf Fields Dedication – April, 2019

R
estricted gifts to the School can be designated to fund special projects or further supplement operating and capital budgets.
This year, gifts totaling $303,473 were received for academic programming, scholarships, and capital improvement projects. Some of the noteworthy initiatives include:
THE PARENTS' ASSOCIATION SILENT AUCTION raised over $33,000, which was allocated to The Foxcroft Circle, Wintermission, Tally Ho!, student enrichment, faculty appreciation, and the expansion of coffee service to Maintenance and Security Team members. In addition, the Parents' Association elected to fund the final two SmartBoards for Schoolhouse. These budget-relieving items were needed in the Chemistry and Biology Labs and will be installed this summer and ready for use in the 2019–20 academic year. An additional $65,000 was raised toward the needed funding for Foxcroft’s new TURF FIELDS during the past year. This project brought our athletic fields up to regulation size for field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and softball; addressed the poor condition of the playing surfaces; and added a practice track, which allowed us to develop a spring track program. During Reunion Weekend 2019, alumnae, students, faculty, and friends gathered to celebrate the dedication of this exciting addition to campus. THE CLASS OF 1968 continues to raise funds in memory of their friend and classmate, Susan McConnell. To honor Susan’s passion for Foxcroft, her leadership of the School through a difficult time, and her love of riding, the Class will place a bench and a plaque at the Jean duPont McConnell Stables and Riding Arena, as well as create an endowed fund in her name. During this year’s Awards Assembly, THE CLASS OF 2019 announced that their Senior Class gift would support renovations to the Norcross Health Center—a place of comfort and healing for so many girls throughout the year.

stablished in 1999 by the Board of Trustees, Forever Foxcroft is the giving society that recognizes individuals who have included
Foxcroft in their estate plans. Whether a bequest, trust, annuity, pooled income, or property interests, planned gifts provide for the future needs of the School. Through these legacy gifts, members of Forever Foxcroft balance their financial goals and charitable interests while ensuring that Foxcroft continues to attract and retain inspiring teachers, that financial aid will be available to prospective students, and that the buildings and grounds will be cared for and upgraded as needed in the future. We are grateful to the alumnae, parents, and friends of Foxcroft listed here who have taken the lead to ensure that Foxcroft continues to thrive.

thank you
T
hank you for your thoughtful and generous support of Foxcroft during the 2018–19 fiscal year. Your gifts ensure the success of
our programs, preserve our buildings and grounds, and touch the lives of
every person on campus. Your School continues to excel because of your commitment, belief, and generosity. As with any non-profit organization, Foxcroft’s success depends heavily on the efforts of its volunteers, especially those who commit their time and energy to serve in a more official capacity. Members of the Board of Trustees, the Alumnae Council, and the Parents’ Association are not only passionate about the School, but each works tirelessly to further our mission and strengthen connections among alumnae, students, parents, and the greater community. A special thank you to each of these groups and to all of our volunteers and donors.
