Dear Readers Goa has many places that are forgotten due to various reasons and here in this issue we have featured few such places you would love to explore. Most of the people visit Goa thinking that it is just a beach destination but that is not the fact at all. There are hundreds of places in Goa that are most amazing yet far away from the coastal belt. One such place we have featured here is the Fontainhas in Panaji. Fontainhas is the Portuguese colony of Goa. When Portuguese abandoned the Old Goa, their first capital in Goa in the 17th century their base was shifted to Panaji. The colonization in Panaji started from Altinho and spread across the Mala area which is located at the bottom of Altinho hill. If you take a minute look at the Fontainhas you will able to see that the entire area was setup without the proper planning and there are no proper ventilations in the houses built touching each other. This happened due to haphazard colonization in the area. There are more such places we have motioned in the cover story section and I am sure you would love them all. When we are talking about the Portuguese let's take a look at the present influence of Portuguese on Goans in the “In Focus” section. Portuguese had ruled Goa for more than 450 years and they left their deep impact on Goa and Goans. Before leaving Goa, Portuguese offered Goans dual nationality which remains the issue of controversy till date. You will be able to get more in depth knowledge of this in the In Focus section of this issue. Goa is one of the safest places in India for the women tourists. Women always feels free and safe in the state the best example is the fleet of women on can spot on Goan beaches in bikinis. This possibility is not there in any other states of India. The featured story on the three most preferred destinations for Women will give you more details on this. Chandarpur or Chandor was the capital city of Goa in the Kandamba dynasty before the Portuguese invaded Goa. It was also ruled by Mauryas claims the historians. The story of Chandarpur is very interesting and it will take you back into the past when Goa was ruled by the Hindu emperors. Rest all the features are in place and there are more added features in this issue. If you wish to leave any valuable suggestion please go ahead and send us your suggestions on goaprism@gmail.com
