Hey Guys, Here I am back with yet another episode of stories for you this time it is about the demonetization in India. Demonetization is supposed to the most severe attack on any economy as it could lead to completely Paralyse the entire system and the country could even collapse. I am not talking in the air but there are many examples wherein the demonetization drive had led to complete collapse of the economy of that country and people literary came down on the streets. But India was very lucky to survive despite the severe shock of demonetization it managed to withstand it. The November 9, 2016 will go done into the History as 9/11 Demonetisation Day). On the intervening night of 8th and 9th the Indian Prime Minister Shri, Narendra Modi dropped the bomb of the demonetization on the people and everybody woke up from the deep sleep unable to believe their ears for some time. This was the second after 1978 that any Indian primer had announced the demonetization of the high-value notes. In 1978 it was Mrs. Indira Gandhi who had stopped the use of Rs. 1000 notes and this time Mr. Modi banned Rs. 1000 and 500 notes which were the most important part of a denomination in the country. People were seen running on the road to reach the nearby ATMs at night on 8th November to get the cash but in vain as most of the machines become empty within few minutes of an announcement made by Mr. Modi. The idea behind the demonetization according to Mr. Modi was the unearthing of the black money. But the people who were seen in the huge Queue to deposit their high-value notes were not the ones who were holding the black money but the common man who was earning the daily bread and paying all the taxes to the government in time. Mr. Modi was unable to explain to the people of India as how he is going to take out the hidden black money from the rich people who hardly got affected by the demonetization drive. There were many stories of the people close to Mr. Modi being aware of the demonetization and had safely parked their socalled black money much before the announcement made by Mr. Modi. Mr. Modi before coming to the power had promised to the people of India that he will bring back all the black money that has been parked in the Swiss banks and that every Indian will have at least 15 lakh rupees in their accounts but instead he decided to remove the money from the pockets of Indians. Nothing ever came back to India from the Swiss banks till date. Sometimes I feel, how easy it is for the Indian politicians to fool their own countrymen. Although the demonetisation drive was not the complete failure but to the larger extent yes. According to the records, hawala and terrorist fundings were severely got affected due to the demonetization but there is no visible evidence to prove the same. Meanwhile, the people from the middle and lower class were severely affected due to the demonetization while the business tycoons like Mallya were hardly had any effect of the demonetization. There is saying when the cyclone comes it is the big trees that get uprooted but the cyclone of demonetization caused only the poor people get drowned and completely uprooted while the big trees remained unaffected. goaprism@gmail.com

HAVE YOU REGISTERED YOUR BIRTH IN LISBON AND ARE YOU READY TO DISCLOSE THE SAME BEFORE THE DESIGNATED AUTHORITY? THIS MAY BE YOUR LAST CHANCE. Although there is no fixed figure available with the government of Goa at the moment that can decide how many Goans have their names registered in the Central Registry of Lisbon but the approximation is around 400,000 Goans. To decide the exact figure and to sort out the issue of dual nationality the central government has decided to appoint a “Designated Authority” to handle this issue. But according to the Commissioner for NRI affairs, this will be a limited time exercise. Read what he has to say more about the dual nationality and its future consequences to Goans.

JUST CHILL India is shivering and in its own way Goa is too! Having just returned from some extensive travel up north in an itinerary that included chill zones like Amritsar, New Delhi and the capital of Nepal –Kathmandu, I was looking forward to land back in the sunny climes of Goa. But as my ight landed in the evening and I waited for the familiar warmth to embrace me, I was in for shock as the wind hit me with a nip as sharp as the claws of my neighbor's feline housemates. As I quickly wrapped my Angora stole tightly again I realized that Goa is reeling under the cold wave too, though quite unexpectedly. It's indeed a surprise for many of my Goan friends, especially the ones who live away from the coastal areas where the chill is mitigated to a certain degree. So if you are a Goan with a limited inventory of woolens, how do you cope up with sudden vagaries of erratic weather and unexpected fall in temperature? Also many a times I have seen my Goan friends travel to north India in peak winters ill-equipped to deal with the chill there due to a very limited winter wardrobe. Well, help is here. Just ensure you have the following in your wardrobe to deal with any winter chills in goa or travel plans to hardcore winter destinations:
