Tourism industry is growing rapidly like never before. Earlier it was a trend of east to travel to India on vacation to spend some quality time. Goa had tourism season starting in the month of October and ending in the month of February after that total silence in coastal area no more tourist and no business at all. But then trend changed due to increase in financial freedom amongst the young generation in India changed the entire scenario. Bag-Packer tourism started taking its roots into India and people started travelling on weekends most usually with their own vehicles in a group to spend weekend in camouflage taking a break from high pressure work environment. Though the backpackers tourism does not assure huge financial gains to the tourism industry as the travelers prefer to stay in less expensive places and would spend less money on shopping or on eating at expensive restaurants but they

assure regular business to smaller establishments. Though we are talking about the bag packers trend growing in India but this is very small part of the real big picture How? As you read through the article it will divulge on its own. Bag packer's tourism is not as small as we of think of it, but in the financial perspectives of it surely creates big deference for instance the bag packer tourism depreciating currency in India is alluring the global travelers to extend their stay and afford better hotels. Budget trips and solo escapades in India are becoming more and more popular among the backpackers of the western countries. Consequently, the Indian tourism market is reaping handsome dividends. The fall in the value of the Indian currency along with the losses faced by the aviation companies resulting in cheaper airfares has helped the solo tourists holidaying in India. The sharp fall of the rupee may have hurt the Indian economy but to the thousands of cost-conscious

Apart from depreciating value of the rupee, industry insiders say that the tourism departments from various states are actively promoting tourism destinations in their states to countries abroad is another factor leading to an increasing numbers of backpackers visiting the country. Backpacking is a popular trend of travelling in Western countries, which is essentially traveling on a very low budget. As per the experts, backpackers don't complain about poor infrastructure while travelling and are content with basic lodging facilities. Keeping this in mind, several budget hotels and home stays have mushroomed around the state Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala,

“Before starting my 10 day trek to mantalai staying in tents sounded very excited. It was exciting for a couple of days but I did miss soft mattress after continuous walking for whole day. Sleeping in bags and tent was not very comfortable and to add to it was the cold breeze. Similarly bathing and morning rituals are again a question because the trek is in hilly trail with no hotel/ rooms so a separate movable cabinet is prepared for same with which not everyone are comfortable. Have to trek carrying your own luggage so try to keep it to minimum weight, porters are available but they carry tents and food for you. When headed to places like these make sure to carry extra batteries for camera as no charging points will be available. Last not the least forget about the job to its world and submit yourself to nature it is surely something to live for.- Rushikesh Laddha | IT Proffessional | Nashik | Maharashtra |

I love hiking and I never miss a chance if I have one. Pune has some really amazing forts nearby and it is heaven during rains. Hiking while you are totally drenched is more fun. But most of the forts are not maintained well and public toilets are a major concern for girls. Changing from drenched clothes is always a problem. When we are in groups we end up requesting local villagers to use their places for changing. When hiking in monsoon make sure to wrap mobiles and camera in water proof covers. Carry a pair of spare clothes so you can change once you are on your way back. Invest in trekking shoes with good grip most of the rock patches are slippery. -Rupa Sureshkumar | IT Proffessional | Chennai |

Road trip on my enfield was the most awaited trip of my school group. We were on strict budget plus needed to save for fuel and any unexpected breakages we cut down on lavish hotels and instead opted for accommodations available on Highways. Moving to a new place and doing sightseeing is no fun compared to riding on highways, Highways too have much beauty to offer. You can ride on ur own pace and have a smoke with a view. Maintaining bike is very important do get a checkup done whenever there is a service available. Always remember safety on road is very important. -Vineet Khokar | IT Proffesional | Pune, Maharashtra

As trend is changing so the tourism industry, the future is all about bagpackers they are there to stay and influence the tourism industry in India. Bottom line is that the tourism industry overall will grow multifold, per capita profits will melt down but the turnover will increase giving boost to overall profits. Small players in tourism industry will mushroom with time.

Mining On

Mining business in Goa is a major source of energy for generating revenue and filling the kitty of government without which Govt. of Goa cannot take up any major development works; especially here I am referring to the development of tourism infrastructure in Goa for the coming season. It's to be recalled that mining in Goa was banned by the supreme court of India in year 2012 and due to that hundreds of homes depending on mining business had suffered severe setback, in fact Goa Prism has carried out an article on this issue earlier. The closure of mining made entire movement of funds to stay stagnant which later transformed into lack of fund flow in the market. People connected with mining business moved out of Goa to other locations and thus diverting the funds to other states. People connected with other businesses have stopped investing due to

in focus uncertainty in the marketplace. Property rates slashed down in Goa, new construction projects got help up and old projects did not get sale as expected, overall every business suffered a big setback. On 21st April 2014 Supreme court lifted the ban on Goa Mining and allowed an annual cap of 20 million tonnes of iron ore excavation, down from earlier 40 MT. However, the apex court said there will be no grant of lease for mining around one km of national parks and wild life sanctuaries. While passing the judgement, the Supreme Court also said the Ministry of Environment and Forests to identify eco-sensitive areas around national parks within six months. (Sourse PTI) Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar claimed that the Supreme Court order in the mining case has vindicated his stand that no action could be taken against those named in the Justice M B Shah Commission of inquiry without proper investigation by the police. "The court has said that unless the parties are heard, it cannot proceed against them and therefore cannot direct the government to prosecute anyone," Parrikar told PTI reacting to the judgement which has allowed mining in the state, though with several restrictions. Goa government had taken a stand before the court that "no action will be taken against the mining lessees only on the basis of the findings in the report of the Justice Shah Commission without making its own assessment of facts and without first giving the mining lessees the opportunity of hearing and the opportunity to produce evidence in their defense." Upholding the state government stand, the court had said that it cannot direct prosecution of the mining lessees on the basis of the findings in the report of the Justice Shah Commission, if they have not been given the

opportunity of being heard and to produce evidence in their defence and not allowed the right to crossexamine and the right to be represented by a legal practitioner before the Commission. When the mines went quiet, about 100,000 people lost their jobs, including the truck drivers, mechanics, port workers and barge deckhands that supported the industry, according to the Goa government. Those thrown out of work equaled 7 percent of Goa's population, though the actual figure is in dispute and may be higher. The court announced a partial lifting of the ban, now into its second year, to allow some mining to restart. Yet officials in the industry say Goa's iron ore mines may take months to make a comeback because the infrastructure has collapsed and former customers have gone elsewhere. All mining in the state after 2007 will be considered illegal, the court said in its order, because the licenses expired that year. The miners, who continued to operate pending renewal, will have to seek fresh licenses before resuming work. Mining may not start before October,

said Giriraj Daga, a Mumbai-based analyst at Nirmal Bang Equities Pvt. “The decline in ore exports from India has significantly supported global prices at a time when low-cost capacity ramp-ups in Australia and Brazil are putting prices under pressure,” said Hoffman, global head of metals and mining research at Bloomberg Industries. “There's a concern that rising supplies may lead to a crash in iron ore prices.” The over-supply scenario, coupled with China's preference for highgrade ore to curb pollution, will make the typical lower grade and higher sulfur content of Indian ore, unattractive. Fonseca, meantime, continues his efforts to save jobs. His appeal to India's labor secretary in January to block a Sesa Sterlite plan to lay off workers succeeded. “Transport providers are in great distress and mining companies may have to consider some financial assistance for them,” said Timblo at Fomento Resources. “Without them, starting the mines will make no sense.” Overall though the mining will start in Goa again but the consequences will be totally different then expected. The reformation will take time and so the financial restructuring. Lets wait and watch. Mind & Meditation

by SOHAM

Human mind can be compared to a patch of land on earth that has tremendous potential to be fertile, productive and rewarding but only when the undesirable weeds which cover up the entire land are permanently cut and productive seeds are sown and nurtured with patience and knowledge, to reap the long lasting rewards of nature. The mind is an inner organ of thought that is functioning at three levels: Logic or reasoning Emotion or sensory mind & Ego or pseudo soul (ahankara) Every thought that is articulated finds its expression through words and the language engaged to vocalize, reveals what is hidden in the mind's recesses. This self-expression finds its origin in past experiences, external influences and perceptions or beliefs embedded in the sub-conscious mind of the person,

feature which eventually shapes up the conduct and a distinct individuality. Unless one introspects on the impulsive and undesirable tendencies, it is impossible to recognize and appreciate the positive characteristics. Human beings are creatures of habit, routine and driven by impulses, which in turn are stimulated by cultural beliefs and community trends. It is believed that –“first you make habits and then habits shape the rest of your life”. Isn't it true of people who aren't able to give up their unnecessary harmful food addictions and compulsive behavior patterns? The easiest way to manage the restless human mind is to regulate breath and p r a c t i c e m e d i t a t i o n . T h e m i n d ' s calmness has the quality of divinity because the mind can constantly focus on any 'One' aspect and not many, at a particular moment. The material world is not just alluring but persuasive. That is why people, who focus on changing their inner life and a l t e r t h e p a t h o f t h e i r d e s t i n y , incorrigibly come down to the familiar and repetitive patterns of daily existence. A fortunate few –those who practice and recall the power of supreme universe w i t h e a c h b r e a t h a n d t h o u g h t persistence are able to secure control over their mind, gain equanimity with nature and realize true existence. When the mind is clear and the seeker begins to notice divinity in everything, wisdom prevails in all aspects of life. like heart beat, respiration, dreams, sleep etc. and with each inhalation and exhalation it enlivens the human body. All characteristics like human “will” and “ego” also stem from an individual soul. Meditation is a path that draws the human will closer to the soul or true self. At this point contradictions disappear, inherent potential is discovered and a path of least resistance is established. Conversely, if an individual remains affixed to the lures of the outer world through the conscious mind and never find time to connect; it will be nothing but a life of slavery of five senses from beginning to end. The five senses in human beings have a treacherous way of making the subject reach out to a similar feeling or experience again and again by engaging false ego in the process, without making it evident that the entire gamut of life is based on give and take. her awareness at that stage of life. The biological human body is like a chariot and the soul is the charioteer. The five senses are horses that draw the chariot. When driven by the egoistic self, the horses pull in different directions and the journey gets jeopardized. It is only when the five senses of perception (nose, tongue, eyes, ears, skin) are attuned to the divinity, the 'charioteer' cruises through the journey of life in a fulfilling manner. If devoted to the search of the self, a human mind can achieve self-control, sense control, heart control, breath control and withdrawal from five senses at will. The ascending chakras within the spine of human body represent the five elements (tatva): earth, water, fire, air and space. And each of these elements has a sensory connection with smell, t a s t e , s i g h t , s o u n d a n d t o u c h respectively. fitness guru to ensure their child eats healthfully, and most of parents often are unable to guarantee their children get enough exercise. Parents believe that they can have more control over their kids' behavior, during school year. But many parents said there's simply not enough time to follow healthy habits as much as they'd like. Getting kids to exercise doesn't come easily either. Parents are aware that their child doesn't get enough physical activity to help them stay at a healthy weight. Nowadays children are glued to playing video games instead of paying outdoors to move bigger muscles in their bodies.

Children who enjoy doing physical activity are more likely to exercise as adults. "It's much easier to keep a good habit than it is to break a bad habit. So the question is, how do you get the good exercising habits started? You can help your overweight kid move toward a healthy weight by making it easy for everyone in your family to make healthy choices and encouraging them to make those choices so consistently that they become your family's healthy habits.

Making healthy choices can help an overweight kid who is still growing hold his weight steady so he can grow into his weight as he gets taller. Small healthy choices also give healthy weight kids the habits and foundation to maintain their weight.

fashion & trends Starting this month Goa Prism presents our new Fashion & Lifestyle Column “DIVAnee by TV anchor and performer RuchikaDavar. A self-proclaimed lifetime student of fashion, style and trend spotting- she has travelled across many countries and loves to collect everything fashionable from clothes, make-up, accessories, home accents- she likes to refer to her collection as her library because it's as important to her as books are to academics. She has previously written columns for Delhi Midday & the Herald apart from presenting lifestyle and film related TV shows on many channels. This column is the space where she shares her style mantras and curates special trends from time to time especially for the Goan shopper.

Dilwale Womaniya le jaenge

DIVAnee

Indie looks are so hot right on- but not desi or rustic in anyway, the key is to look Indie Chic and yet retain the contemporary feel of the moment- Truth be told the 'WOMANIYA' look is just what the style doctor ordered. I'm personally a big fan of this look and have been anyway dressing like that even before a name was coined to categorise this trend. It's a perfect way to look colourful, modern and even introduce a bit of kitsch into the mix. But more than just a fashion trend- this look defines the attitude of the woman who carries it- she is a woman who knows the best of both worlds, she is not afraid to combine her tube top with her block print rajasthani skirt and will wear it with elan to a coffee with friends, or even to a friend's poolside mehendi ceremony.

fashion & trends She is traditional and yet with an undercurrent of modern mischief that makes her someone to watch out for. We are talking about a woman who has seen it all and yet she is decidedly Indian at heart- t h i n k K a n g a n a R a n a u t , H u m a Q u e r e s h i - w o m e n p e r f e c t l y comfortable with their bodies and playing dress up with elan. No wonder we have ace like JJ Valaya, Sabyasachi deigners spotting this huge opportunity and playing with this trend on the runways. In my opinion the Womaniya look is also a great option especially for Indian W o m e n d u e t o t h e f o l l o w i n g reasons-

We are all for pop culture anyway- the prints, the florals, the dense c o l o r s , a f t e r a l l t h e I n d i a n wardrobe has one of the richest shade palettes in the world. The introduction of 'desi cool' is perfect for the humid Indian summers where bodycons are booted out and flowing cottons & mulmul silhouettes are given a hearty embrace. Look fashionable without looking uncomfortable as you get to dress as per your body type. It's a look for every age group as long as you play your accessories r i g h t - Y o u c a n o f t e n n o t i c e Bollywood dadi- Suhasini Mulay dressed in true womaniya style during her offscreen outings.

fashion & trends So how to ace the Womaniya look? The basic components you n e e d t o m i x a n d m a t c h together are- one desi, one m o d e r n , o n e s t a t e m e n t accessory. For example choose a big ghera Ikat skirt with a solid tube top and a statement necklace. Or maybe a floral dhoti salwar with a hosiery, knit crop top and a chunky silver kada bangle.

T h e e s s e n t i a l W o m a n i y a mantras are:

Aviators or any metal frame

So get ready to take the city by storm as it goes fida on you, O Womaniya.

Summer is officially upon us. For most of us, the word conjures up images of sandy beaches, and sweltering hot days spent splashing around in the water. For thrill seekers, sometimes the best part of summer is the feeling of plummeting down a waterslide into a chlorinated wonderland. Whether you're a daredevil or you just like to chill, Splashdown Waterpark will help you beat the summer heat. Splashdown water park is the perfect place to get your thrills, with plenty of steep, twisting slides and adrenaline-pumping attractions for all ages. But if that sounds a bit too much like hard work then a quick dip in the swimming pool and a laze on a sun-bed might be more to your liking then you can do that too, A visit to Splashdown will make you feel rejuvenated and ready to take on the next few days of your mundane life. So grab your swimsuit, sunscreen and your sense of adventure and join us at Splashdown Waterpark.

Sao Joao Every monsoon the Sao Joao festival is celebrated with grandeur and gaiety. It is dedicated to St. John the Baptist which is celebrated as a feast on 24thJune. The fest includes villagers jumping into the wells streams and ponds. This jump is to signify the joy that St. John felt when Jesus was born. During monsoons this event is the major attraction for tourists. Pool parties and private Sao Joao parties in Goa serve as a complete package of merriment and joy. Amboli is a hill station in south Maharashtra, India. At an altitude of 690 meters it is the last hill station before the coastal highlands of Goa and a relatively unexplored one. Amboli lies in the Sahayadri Hills of Western India, one of the world's "Eco Hot-Spots" and it therefore abounds in a variety of fairly unique flora and fauna. The hilltop Amboli gives a fine bird's-eye view of the Konkan coast. Colonel Westrop developed Amboli as a hill station after the opening of the Ghat Road from the coastal town of Vengurla, now in southern Maharashtra, to Belgaum.

Eishitas Creations Age of 1GM Jewelry There was a time when everybody talked about 1TOLA Gold (10GM Gold) and now it's a age of 1GM Gold jewelry, it's a new age trend of having jewelry made from just 1GM of Gold with variety of designs and patterns starting from simple bangles to the high end necklace all this become possible because of new technology called Gold Plating a method of depositing a thin layer of gold onto the surface of another metal, most often copper or silver (depending upon the requirement) by chemical or electrochemical plating. Gold plating of silver is used in the manufacture of jewellery. Like copper, silver atoms diffuse into the gold layer, causing slow gradual fading of its colour and eventually causing tarnishing of the surface. This process may take months and even years, depending on the thickness of the gold layer. A barrier metal layer is used to counter this effect. Copper, which also migrates into gold, does so more slowly than silver. The copper is usually further plated with nickel. A gold-plated silver article is usually a silver substrate with layers of copper, nickel, and gold deposited on top of it. This new trend is catching up very fast in India as people have started accepting the reality that what glitters is gold and more than 70% people now use 1GM gold plated jewelry which they use either daily of occasionally. In India especially this is very useful to avoid the shocks of robbery and theft and hence people keep the original gold deposited safely with the banks and wear this 1GM gold plated jewelry. In Panjim you will find wide range of 1GM Gold Jewelry at Eishitas collection who is keeping this 1GM gold jewelry in various patterns please visit them to check out for the suitable patterns.
