I knew Something new would happen, Right from the beginning, Days 365 before. Happened. It did. Surprised me total. Unexpected I accepted. Circle completed. Circle begins. Again, I know. Needless to claim. We all know. Things happen, we don’t try. We exert, things accelerate. Why wait? I know. It’s known. Start. Act. Create an Impact. Skip talk. Take the walk.

Window for action loving PROFESSIONALS
Dr. M B Athreya PADMA BHUSHAN Globally, we enter 2016 with a good Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Not ideal. But, better than expected and feared. On the other hand, alas, there is some fear of aWorld War 3. The first dangerous hotspot is the Middle East. It is not only Syria, IS, Yemen, etc. but the fundamental, centuries old, intractable conflict between Sunnis and Shias, represented, respectively, by Saudi and Iran. The second hotspot is East Asia, arising primarily from China’s aggressive moves on the South China Sea. The thirdhotspot, alas, is in South Asia, the risk blind-walking into a foolish war between India and Pakistan. Let us pray that the humanist wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, the Bible, the Koran and similar scriptures dawns on the various political and military leaders. Domestically, there seems to be a revival of the next phase of high growth, and the upturn of the capital investment cycle. While the good lessons of the Bihar defeat seem to have been learned by NDA 2, some of the opposition parties are still obstructing the Parliament, and delaying the passage of vital bills like GST. The democratic hope is that they will return to cooperation, fearing people’s anger and punishment at future elections --- Municipal; Assembly and Parliament. Let us continue our dharma of high performance in Corporates; NGOs; and Governments; and as individual professionals and citizens. Let us support deserving startup, business entrepreneurs; and the dedicated social entrepreneurs.

New Year Resolutions Menu Pick and choose just a few from the menu to make sure that you mean serious business instead of making the routine fashion statements. Do your own DELETE, MODIFY or AMEND. Share them with only a few people around you to seek help and support. Achievers, after all, don’t make a noise while the nonachievers live for it! - Rajiv Khurana

I will prepare my juniors to replace me (say) by 40% for all the activities that I keep doing. I will use the time, thus spared, for my own up-gradation. I will take charge of at least four new employees of the organization and help them settle down without unnecessary constraints. I will avoid spoon feeding my juniors but would always be available in their hour of difficulty as a good coach and facilitator. I will say SORRY and admit my mistakes instead of playing organizational political games to cover up my follies. I will find out the new areas/body of knowledge that may influence my field of work in the coming years and start working on it so that I do not get the shock of ignorance when the right time arises. I will counsel at least two juniors or colleagues who are experiencing difficulties in adjusting in work or personal life. I will attend at least 10 meetings/seminars/conferences conducted by the associations operating in my field of vocation.

Why it's great to be a MAN in the office? [An imaginative first person confessional narration by the man in the office who hates to give respect, equal treatment and care to his colleagues of the fairer sex -A funny version of serious situations.]

I could be anybody. May be part of you. It does not matter. Some people reading this hardly shared personal account of mine may call me stupid. Let them. Who bothers? I know I am STUPID – Smart Talented Unique Person in the Department. I am not alone. I have hundreds and thousands of clones. They are spread all over the country. We have counter parts all across the globe. We think differently. We act differently. But we behave the same. Our un-written one line motto is: TO THINK NEGATIVE, ACT NEGATIVE AND BEHAVE NEGATIVE TOWARDS OUR WOMEN COUNTERPARTS IN THE ORGANIZATIONAL JUNGLE. How do we do it? Each one of us is an authority himself. We learn from each other. Where else would you find such a great team performance. I will share with you what I do. You can create your own encyclopedia by watching others and sharing with others. Don’t hide away to read this article. I dare you to share your negativities openly. I believe in equality. I believe men are more equal than women. I extend my negativity equally amongst the women. I admire Bosses who are fond of embarrassing my women colleagues in front of everyone. I have learnt new techniques of embarrassments. I will show them when I become more responsible in the organizational hierarchy.

I like talking about women in my office. I talk about them in my chartered bus/shared cab/metro, in my friends’ circle and with some colleagues like me. Even the chaiwala and paanwala near our office enjoys the stories about the women colleagues who are old spinsters, separated or single parents. I feel even responsible for entertaining my women colleagues. I do share my double meaning and sometimes explicit jokes. It’s their outlook if they do not laugh. Women have limited sense of humour, you know. I do not like some of my colleagues who take extra care about their women colleagues. Why should I hold the door or stand up for a woman? I don’t even like it when the Big B holds the chair for a women on KBC. I think women take advantage of their proximity with men. That’s why they get promoted faster even though, I feel, they should at the best be doing only the support roles. Women are not very intelligent. I strongly believe that men are. So what if girls have been constantly scoring the highest marks in the X and XII standard board exams! I don’t think that women are serious about their jobs. They come to pass their time and even claim all medical benefits. I feel that newly married women should not be hired in the office as it amounts to lot of time and money loss within 2-3 years.

Window for action loving PROFESSIONALS I must tell you that I am very fond of poetry and graffiti. Haven’t you seen my scriptures on the toilet walls and lift cabins. You couldn’t have missed them. Sometimes, I play with them. Making blank calls is a great office hide and seek game. I am gradually learning but some of my friends have mastered the art of making women cry. Great fun! No? I am quite religious minded. Whenever there is an office party, I and my friends adopt the mandir or gurudwara approach. Women one side and men on the other side. After all, we need our space to talk about the three Ws [Wine, Wealth and Women]. Some of my friends are quite hi-tech these days. They keep mass mailing/WhatsApping the XXX web-material to each other. Few intentional accidental transmittals do occur and my women colleagues do get them. Technology has some short-comings too. What can be done about it? I am very generous. Who so ever asks me, I do provide the personal home and office numbers of my women colleagues. Many a times, I think that I should be a newspaper columnist on fashion. I have documented every nuance of what I see in the backup memory of my brain. There are times when I feel reserved or may be a bit shy but my kinds of other colleagues do not. They do indulge in a bit of strip tease when they move around with their 2-3 shirt buttons open in the office. I wish I was a bit more senior than I am. I would have, by position of my authority, made my women colleagues sit in my cabin for hours to have tea/coffee and to witness my ‘majma’ style of management.

I wish I had the time and space to write more. But why should I tell you everything. Go ahead, use experience and creativity. The organizational jungle is big and wild. Roar. Be a Lion. The other part is normally timid and defenseless. Be mean. Be self obsessed. The life of a man will not come again. Go for the kill. Don’t worry about what people say. Be an MCP – Magnificent Creation in this Peninsula.

Who is packing your parachute?

Gratitude! Show it.

Air Commodore Vishal was a Jet Pilot. In a combat mission his fighter plane was destroyed by a missile. He however ejected himself and parachuted safely. He won acclaims and appreciations from many. After five years one day he was sitting with his wife in a restaurant. A man from another table came to him and said "You're Captain Vishal ! You flew jet fighters. You were shot down!" "How in the world did you know that?" asked Vishal. "I packed your parachute," the man smiled and replied. Vishal gasped in surprise and gratitude and thought if parachute hadn't worked, I wouldn’t be here today. Vishal couldn't sleep that night, thinking about that man. He wondered how many times I might have seen him and not even said 'Good morning, how are you?' or anything because, he was a fighter pilot and that person was just a safety worker" So friends, who is packing your parachute? Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through the day. We need many kinds of parachutes when our plane is shot down – we need the physical parachute, the mental parachute, the emotional parachute, and the spiritual parachute. We call on all these supports before reaching safety. Sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important. We may fail to say hello, please, or thank you, congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, give a compliment, or just do something nice for no reason. As you go through this week, this month, this year, recognize the people who pack your parachute Source: Internet

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something. -Neil Gaiman
The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals. -Melody Beattie
