10 | OLDE ENGLISH 800

history of olde english 800 Olde English is a brand of malt liquor beer owned by Miller Brewing Co. Malt liquor is a strong lager or ale in which sugar, corn or other adjuncts are added to the malted barley to boost the total amount of fermentable sugars in the wort. This gives a boost to the final alcohol concentration without creating a heavier or sweeter taste, thus they are not very bitter. Malt liquor was intended to provide the boost the industry needed in the face of falling per-capita beer consumption and increasing competition from spirits and wine, and malt liquor marketers bent over backward to ingratiate themselves with the white middle class. Olde English 800 came in different sizes including the infamous 40oz.
