The following projects are not a result of individual work, but are group efforts that were undertaken by myself as aspiring architects outside the framework of a professional practice. As a result I would like to extend a special thanks to: Simona Kuneva Hany Ibrahim For their continued collaboration, help & support.

PONT D’ ORLY This competition was sponsored by Willmotte Foundation, and its main goal is to promote the meeting between heritage and contemporary designs. The site of the competition lies on a very important transport hub in the south of Paris, being one of the first things people see on their way from the airport towards the city centre. We wanted to make a subtle reference to the city’s famous radial urban planning in the curvilinear shape and perforations in the second skin facade we are proposing. The design still however, carries great respect to the original building refurbishing and updating its glass and concrete facade.

THE LIGHT OF SYRACUSE Italy is famous for it’s tourism, the amazing history, the quality of service delivered, the good food, the beautiful rocky beaches and the friendly people. Therefore we tried to design a luxury lighthouse resort that shall satisfy all tastes. Having in mind the beautiful site, it’s historical significance and natural system, we did not want to disturb the romantic yet wild scenario, so we decided to leave the old house almost untouched and create a design that fully respects the existing landscape, a design that merges within and almost becomes one with it. With the development of complex, we were aiming to influence the regional development and intruce a new exciting opportunity for travellers from all over the world.

URBAN OASIS
The idea is to create a modern cluster in the heart of the city of Ryde where the community can live, work, create, imagine, shop and be entertained. Being settled in between the busy shopping area, the city council of Ryde and in such a proximity to Sydney the nature of the site is dynamic, fast and diverse, with number of layers of infrastructure, means of transportation, human traffic and constant movement. We aimed to put the community interest first and transform the site into a vibrant, sustainable and beautiful urban oasis. The main concept of the design is simple. The site is broken in three islands, each inhabited with mixed-use residential and commercial buildings the shape of which is inspired by the contours of the shores of River Parramatta. The master plan is developed with the intend to emphasize on nature and create a well harmonized mixture of the fast city life and the piece of a private setting to achieve a symbiosis between urban and suburban. With the design of the building we wanted to maximize the intake of sunlight, create unique apartment and office layouts and benefit greatly from the brilliant location of the site.

MEXTROPOLI ‘16
This competition required the design of a temporary structure to house some of the events and exhibitions of the 2016 edition of the annual Latin American Architecture and Urbanism festival ‘MEXTROPOLI’, in Mexico City, Mexico. The concept of the design is based on the modernisation of the Mayan steppedpyramids. The pavilion is formed of an easily assembeled steel skeleton that is filled in with light concrete panels to provide shelter and textile materials to provide shade.

MEXTROPOLI ‘16
Our scheme is a collection of linked pavilions, each oriented to respect the site and setting, inspired by the traditional Hanok design and connected by an open air courtyard exhibition space. As designers we wanted to create simple, elegant, sensible to the environment, respectful to the Korean tradition and yet contemporary design that welcomes visitors and brings art closer to the community. The separate volumes of the proposal allow a strong integration with the landscape and create a continuous journey through the world of art. The traditional Hanok design is expressed throughout the various components from the spacial arrangement, to the form and the aesthetics of the art platform. In similar manner to the historic well-known Korean house, the functions re divided into 4 categories: the main entrance hall, the visitor centre, the administration building and the art centre. The curved slopes of the roof derive from an abstraction of the vernacular roof forms used in ancient Buddhist temples. The scheme provides future urban opportunities and various potential including expansion, the current design offers underground parking in order to expand the green space.
