McDougall Lodge began in 2005 when the Seller acquired the lodge built originally in 1979 as a sport fishing destination lodge that was active until 2004. Since 2005 the lodge cabins and outbuildings have all undergone extensive remodeling, additions, and upgrades over the years.
The lodge is run/operated as McDougall Lodge, an overnight remote sportfishing lodge specializing in salmon and trout fishing trips. The total building area is approximately 10,356 square feet, with a capacity of 28 guests and 16 staff/crew.
Located near Mile 35 of the Yentna River, McDougall Lodge is approximately one mile downstream from the mouth of Lake Creek. This area is a remote, boat, airplane, or snowmachine-only accessible area in the western Matanuska-Susitna Borough. Lake Creek is approximately 65 air miles northwest of Anchorage and about 16 miles east of Skwentna. Lake Creek is located approximately one mile upriver and provides very good sport-fishing opportunities for summertime anglers.
The area is classified as an isolated/remote area, unzoned by the Matanuska Susitna Borough. The lodge’s power plant provides electricity and hot and cold running water supplied by on-site wells.
Fishing, hunting, hiking, and all five Alaska salmon runs are found at or near the lodge: king, silver, pinks, chum, and sockeye. In addition, anglers have opportunities with rainbow trout, grayling, northern pike, and occasional Dolly Varden if fly fishing is your preference.
Wildlife at and nearby the lodge range from moose, black bear, and the coveted Alaska brown bear. The owner is selling the turnkey operation, including all furntiture, fixtures, and equipment. Bookings average $500,000 annually with plenty of room to grow. When summer comes to an end, there is significant potential for winter businesses at McDougall Lodge. Guests can venture into the wilderness for a self-guided hunting trip, take a front-row seat at the Iditarod, or Heli-ski untracked terrain and endless powder on the Alaska Range.
Pictures alone do not capture the impact to the senses when guests arrive for the first time; sounds, the aroma of the cottonwoods and spruce all come together in Central Alaska and McDougall Lodge. Opportunities to expand this remarkable offering are endless. With its own private beach, bring your floatplane, jet sled, or more. Located a 20-minute plane ride from Anchorage, with room to land an R44 or Jet Ranger, this retreat offers it all. King salmon are abundant, and a typical day would result in landing 75-125 kings. 1

I have been coming up to McDougall’s for the last five years. The fishing is always fantastic, and you are surrounded by beautiful scenery and wildlife wherever you fish! The guides are knowledgeable and eager to assist you in getting the most fishing in as possible using different techniques.
The accommodations at McDougall’s are excellent. Clean, comfortable cabins and lodge rooms with custom furniture can’t be beat! On a clear day, you can see Mt. Denali from the observatory in the main lodge. Excellent views of the Yentna River can be had from your cabin or the main lodge. Sitting out on the patio after a long day of fishing watching the Bald Eagles is almost mesmerizing!
The staff at McDougall’s always treats you like family from the time that you get off the floatplane to the time that you leave. The chefs feed you incredible meals while the lodging personnel see to your every need. Group activities are always available to participate in after a great day of fishing, and the staff does a great job in promoting comradery between all of the guests! From Tripadvisor.com n
A friend and I had a chance to fish in Alaska at McDougall Lodge. After a quick floatplane trip from Anchorage, we arrived and felt at home immediately. The entire staff met us on the bank of the Yentna River and got us settled in quickly. We fished the afternoon and the next five days and fished until 1 PM on our day of departure. Three meals each day were hardy and tasted great. Hot showers were waiting for us once we came in from the boats. The guides were knowledgeable and very patient with folks who haven’t fished for salmon. Limits on most days for Silver (Coho) Salmon. Once limits were met we went to catch and release for the remainder of the day. I would highly recommend McDougall Lodge for your inland fishing adventures in Alaska. From Tripadvisor.com
Outstanding lodge. Friendly staff, very accommodating. Fishing guide was experienced and put us on fish morning and afternoon. Even when the weather was challenging our guide got us to the fish. Great time. Will definitely come back. From Tripadvisor.com
Had a good trip last week - Caught our limit of Silver Salmon each day and also caught several other types of salmon. Chanda the lodge manager worked hard to keep everyone happy and is doing a great job. Tony the cook is incredible, good food, good desserts and the works. Ernie Hunter our guide did a great job and fit with our group very well. Thanks to McDougall for a good trip. From Tripadvisor.com
Wonderful experience at McDougall Lodge. Our guide Nate was very helpful and informative. Food from Chef Tony was excellent. Cabins were clean and warm. The lodge is very well run by the boss-Kurt. Very friendly staff. Try to park your boat next to the local legend -Willey- what a hoot. Just remember if you are going for a shorter trip during Tues,Wed & Thrursday you are not allowed to keep king salmon. From Tripadvisor.com
McDougal is that rare investment opportunity where an owner can enjoy all that Alaska has to offer and enjoy a respectable return on investment. The systems, network, and infrastructure are already in place, all you need to do is be ready when that 35-pound king takes you on the rod reel journey that stays with you a lifetime.
