Welcome
Welcome to A Maternal Event, presented to you by Paint Valley Farms and Byland Polled Shorthorns. We, along with the Byers family, look forward to your visit and are proud to showcase the fruits of our labor. The sale offering before you is the culmination of years of breeding and the constant will to produce the very best. Our program is built around balance, with an emphasis on maternal function, and this offering exemplifies exactly what we’ve strived to produce. We focus on cattle that balance traits. We desire to breed cattle that can be relevant from every aspect of their EPD profile. We have extended our efforts to add as much data to the package as possible with performance measurements, ultrasound and DNA. Even as we work to build Shorthorn cattle that will meet the growing demands of commercial acceptability, we strive to maintain ideal phenotype and structure. It’s important to us to balance calving ease and growth, maternal and carcass, in a sound, functional package, but we also want to make cattle that are pleasing to the eye. Our families invite you to join us December 17, as we sell 70 Shorthorn females from the core of our herds. If we can assist you in any way, from selection and delivery to helping you with personal travel plans for the weekend, please do not hesitate to call. We look forward to seeing you in The Valley.
Sincerely, Lee Miller

AI’ed to PVF Gravity. Due 2/5/17. 10 years ago I bought a few embryos in a fundraiser sale donated by Duane Miller. The results was Roseann 12U and the beginning of the Roseann cow family here at Paint Valley. Since then 12U has proven to be the most productive cow at PVF with a lifetime wean ration of 114. Roseann 7A is a daughter of 12U and may be the best female we have produced here. The mating to Gravity was planned for a herd bull deluxe!
PVF Gravity - Service sire of Lot 2. Gravity sold to Dixon Farms in Alberta, Canada and was the Reserve Shorthorn bull at Loydminster this fall.

NS to Leveldale Ringo. Due 3/14/17. Here is an easy fleshing brood cow with a proven track record. 31Y has already produced a champion in PVF Remington 24C that was a member of the Champion Pen at the NWSS in 2016 and went to sell to Kyle Gillis from Minn. Look up 97C in our bull pen a brother to 31Y that sells March 22. Her heifer calf in this sale is proof that her mating back to Ringo flat works!

NS to Leveldale Ringo. Due 3/29/17. In the fall of 2009 I made a trip across the country looking at Shorthorn cattle. It was in Kathryn, ND that I found a set of cows calving to a bull I had never heard of before. That bull was SBR Tsunami. By the time I returned home I had purchased a group of 15 heifer calves. Today that group of Tsunami daughters is the backbone to our fall calving herd. 47Z is a daughter to one of those Tsunami cows and has been quite productive herself by landing her first calf PVF Commander 8C in the Denver pens this past winter. Commander 8C was then purchased by the David Wolfrum Family from Wabash, IN in our bull sale. 47Z is also a sib to the highly popular member of our 2016 Denver pen PVF Gravity 16C now owned by Dixon Farms from Alberta, Canada.

This is an easy fleshing, high volume heifer that has cow wrote all over her. Back in 2009 when I bought the Stevestead Nonpareil cow from Lakeside I had know idea the impact that cow would have in our herd. This heifer is a grand daughter to the original Nonpareil cow.
