Angus Friends, Welcome to the 5th Annual Oliver Angus Sale. The legacy of producing maternal function and efficiency in a low-input grass environment continues in West Point, Georgia. These cattle are linebred for consistency and sustainability. Be sure to view the videos and study the pedigrees as this is a lesson in the “Art of Breeding Cattle”. Take advantage of the years it took to develop these cattle. You can put those advantages into your program through a herd bull or some wonderful heifers that will make excellent cows. The two Herd Sires are proven and can help you sustain the next generation in your program. The Herd Sire Prospects can be developed in your environment and be your next Herd Bull. The heifers are a products of proven “grass cows” and have proven themselves across the Nation in all sorts of environments and management methods. Special note – keep in mind all the weaning weights are from mama’s milk and grass – no creep! If you have questions on the sale procedure or to register for the sale, do not hesitate to call me. We want you to have a good experience utilizing these genetics. Regards, Ken Brubaker

Favour of Wye - Maternal Gtreat Grand Sire Lot 8
Why Linebreeding? Linebreeding is a tool utilized by many breeders today to tighten the germ plasm and genetics to increase consistency, prepotency and sustainability of their program. The alternative is to utilize the “bull of the month” club. This has little consistency and produces an animal that has less of a chance of producing a calf crop that is sustainable and consistence in kind. This method is a “shot in the dark”. This method may produce a great one – but you will have to live with more at the bottom of the bell curve.Plus, this animal has more difficulty producing “like kind” progeny. The Oliver program is an example of linebreeding at its finest. As you review the videos of this offering you will note the consistency in type and kind. They have been selected and tested to perform on grass. These cattle have sold into AL, GA, NC, VA, SD, ND, TX, OK and MT. They have adapted to these environments and many of these herds are repeat customers each year to acquire these genetics. The Late Ed Oliver was a true master breeder and you would often hear him say “The road less traveled can bring benefits”. 4
