Dr. Steve Schultz has done a stringent Breeding Soundness Evaluation on each bull in this sale. All bulls selling are considered as satisfactory, potential breeders, and are guaranteed as breeding bulls through the first breeding season. (A) A Female is NOT guaranteed to be a breeder after the date of the sale when that female is used or attempted to be used in an embryo transfer program, unless by a separate agreement between the buyer and seller. (B) Even though it is possible some of the females have worked successfully in embryo transfer programs in the past, and should in the future, there is NO guarantee of warranty on future embryo production of any sale female.

Retaining Rights to One Embryo Flush

To simplify our female sale we will not retain breeding or embryo interests in any female in this sale. However, if any female goes into embryo production in her future, Mound Creek or our cooperator will retain the rights on every female in the sale to one embryo collection or IVF oocyte harvest at our expense.

Heifer Breeding Option

Mound Creek Ranch will offer to keep any heifer sold in this sale for a prearranged breeding period to AI to any available Mound Creek herd sire and then breed said heifer to Mound Creek natural service sires. Cattle Load Out

Cattle can be loaded out during and after the sale. We ask that any pot-sized loads wait until the conclusion of the sale. We will load out cattle on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and ask that each buyer inform the clerks of your desire to load out on Sunday along with an approximate time of arrival. If you require a load out on another day, please inform the clerks as to your desired date and time.

elcome to Mound Creek Ranch! Hopefully, all have been blessed with late fall and winter moisture. We have filled up stock tanks in our region and captured plenty of subsoil moisture we know will translate into a nice spring green up. Winter grazing has sure punched up as well. We expect a great year in 2024 and continue our prayers for such. Highs and lows around our country outside of agriculture typically have nothing to do with those of us who get up every morning to face our day. We just get up, enjoy a cup of coffee, go get the job done, do so day in and day out, and know we are blessed to have this life we enjoy so much. Certainly, at Mound Creek Ranch we rise before the sun and make every effort to end the day on a productive note. We are blessed to have a high character and dedicated team at Mound Creek Ranch. Their tireless and committed efforts are led by Timmy Sparkman and we are thankful to have team members Josh Wood, Julio Ibarra, Jake Hansen, Mark and Mary Hansen, and let’s not forget our “bull whisperer” Paul (Chilly) Philley. Mound Creek Ranch holds the distinction of being the longest tenured Brangus breeder to consecutively host an active bull sale event dating back to our first sale in 1993. We realize this is only accomplished with the continued support of long-time customers, friends made over the years, and those new faces who have searched out the Mound Creek brand to move their genetic needle. We strongly believe the Mound Creek brand is meant to signify the best seedstock cattle in the country, so we work tirelessly each day to ensure the cattle carrying the MC mark perform up to our lofty expectations, and your program needs! Please keep in mind the registered females will sell Friday afternoon, March 15, the Super Baldie Commercial Heifers will sell Saturday, March 16, and the bulls will follow also selling Saturday, March 16. The National Cattle Inventory Report Recent reports came out on January 1, 2024, verifying that our national cattle inventory (all cattle and calves) is at the lowest level in the United States since 1951. Yes, that math adds up to 73 years. One more item from the recent January 1 report stated that calves under 500 pounds only totaled 13.28 million head which is the smallest calf crop since 1941! Several items will have to be considered on what this inventory report means relative to the cow/calf producer. However, even with projected higher number of feeder cattle imports, our nation’s feeder cattle prices in 2024 will remain strong, and could even be stronger than the record prices received in 2023! These values could even translate further into 2025! We also know fall bull sales were positive around the country and those big sales up north in the first part of 2024 have been excellent! More than ever, stock bull buyers are recognizing the value of improved genetic merit and how stronger genetic input exponentially translate into more monies received due to extra pounds, more calves in the weaning pen, bigger gains in the feedyard, and greater financial return off the rail. Additionally, producers recognize the value of genetically improved replacement heifers and the extra dollars they bring to the bank over their lifetime of achievements. Full Disclosure....We Are STILL Providing Weights and Measures We look through other catalogs and wonder why they fail to provide weights and measures? Oh well, we just don’t feel we have anything to run from or hide! Maybe we are the last ones still standing, but we do believe you appreciate the weights and measurements provided in the catalog. Actual birth weights and scrotal measurements are important even with our genomically enhanced EPD values to offer greater help in evaluating the genetic worth of our sale cattle. We realize not all measurements are outstanding, but we give you all the data anyway. We know many of our best sale cattle will come out of our embryo transfer animals. However, we had an outside ET calf raiser program that ran into tough weather, tough feeding conditions, and substandard recipient cows. These conditions resulted in our best genetics coming to Mound Creek much lighter than expected, translating into weaning weights, yearling weights, and ultrasound measurements less than we normally experience. Great genetics are great genetics so rather than hide or make excuses for the absence of data we still provide you their less than normal weights and measurements. Our genetic selection program, assisted greatly through our use of GE-EPD values, continues to prove the consistency and long-term effect from our intensive selection program designed to address the needs of those in the ranching world. Fertility Indicator Traits Fertility continues to be the most economically important trait in the cattle industry. Period! Without reserve we have an intensive focus on genomically enhanced breeding values for Heifer Pregnancy, Stayability, Breed Back, Number of Calves. These four values are the best fertility indicator traits in our breed’s EPD arsenal of genetic predictors, and with these values seedstock breeders can be more diligent with bull and female selection for fertility! Most assuredly at Mound Creek Ranch we use these values in our animal selections and mating programs. The results are evident each year at palpation and weaning time. There are 190 head of cattle in this sale catalog! These 190 head of cattle offer the following EPD ranked values as compared to the ENTIRE national database in the Brangus breed: Heifer Pregnancy (HP) ranks in the TOP 15%; Stayability (Stay) ranks in the TOP 10%; Breed Back (BB) value ranks in the TOP 10%; and Number of Calves (NC) projected to be born ranks in the TOP 5%. Please understand these numbers are not reflective of singled out individuals or the front end of the sale offering. These numbers reflect the ENTIRE sale offering and should indicate to you the importance we place on these Fertility Indicator Traits at Mound Creek. More total calves equal more total pounds which equal more total dollars which equal happier spouses and happier bankers! The “True” Science We are passionate Brangus breeders and have been for close to four decades. However, as seedstock suppliers we must embrace the science of our modern beef industry that affects the needs of bull buyers, replacement providers, feeders, packers, and retailers! As our great friend Mike Kammerer, Red Bird Meadows Ranch always reminded us, “you’re either on the train or getting run over by it!” Factually, there are no programs with “all true” Brangus which they define as 3/8 Brahman and 5/8 Angus, or 37.5% Brahman and 62.5% Angus. In today’s beef industry this might be to our breed’s advantage. In fact, Dr. Jerry Taylor, University of Missouri reported at the 2019 Beef Improvement Federation, after evaluating over 9000 samples of Registered Brangus cattle DNA, that our national breed average was actually 25% Brahman and 75% Angus. The information we provide in this catalog for the DNA percentages of Brahman and Angus are meant to illustrate this discussion and offer insight on the ranges we now realize to expect in mating cattle composed of two very distinct parent breeds. Mound Creek has gone to extra expense, time, labor and “catalog space” to offer this information based on science and technology rather than emotion. In true Mound Creek fashion, we are making every effort to provide you with the “true” facts related to just how much is there, and what it all means. The combination of DNA from the two parents to their progeny is random. Period. We know each parent contributes half of the DNA to their offspring, but this randomness means some offspring might get “more” Brahman genetics from each parent while other offspring might get “more” Angus genetics. This “randomness” can be affected over time by applying selection pressure on varying traits over generations, but not by simply breeding Registered animals back to Registered animals. You guys generally know what kind of bull you prefer. Forget the letters in front of the recording number. This ration is blended with 50% silage, 10% cotton burrs, and 40% premix composed of a protein pellet balancer, cracked corn, and DDGs. The fall bulls have been eating the silage ration for the four months prior to sale time. The winter bulls have been on silage for about two months prior to sale time. The bulls are gain tested post weaning in long pastures fifteen to twenty acres in size. This testing program enhances greater mobility, ensures better hoof and leg soundness, produces bigger bellied cattle with greater forage-based appetite, and are more ready to survive long term in a real-world forage-based environment. Quality Is No Accident! 468 Family Line This growing Mound Creek family started in 2004 when our friends Jerry and Terri Ligon purchased Miss Brinks Cadence 468G15 who we thought was the best Cadence daughter in the breed (and still do). From that purchase and subsequent embryo collections of 468G15 mated to Revelation, Rock Star, Something Special, Tank and Jethro we started a 468 family from sire side genetics produced at Mound Creek and Blackwater. Initial notables included MC Abrams 468T22, BWCC Ms Revelation 468Y12, MC Ms Slick 468E22, BWCC Ms Rock Star 468Y16 and herd sires BWCC Ranger 468C56, BWCC Stretch 468D42, BWCC Merger 468F9. Then we produced the $55,000 MC El Poderosa 468H6 and the shining star followed with the $155,000 MC A Plus 468J20. The Double L heifers are out of Brangus cows sired by Mound Creek stock bulls and sired by Hereford bulls from W4 Herefords. MOUND CREEK Terms & Conditions

Except for those stated in the below terms and conditions, there are no warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the cattle being sold at this auction. The warranties and guarantees set forth in the “Terms & Conditions” are in lieu of all other warranties, either expressed or implied, and the remedies provided therein shall be the sole and exclusive remedy of the buyer, or any party through buyer, for any breach of warranty or guarantee therein provided, and all other obligations or liabilities. 1. BIDDING: Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision shall be final. 2. TERMS: All terms are cash or check. Settlement must be made to the clerk at the conclusion of the auction. 3. PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold, but will not be delivered until settlement has been made. 4. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: When full settlement has been made, a certificate of registration will be furnished and transferred to the purchaser on those lots that are registered. Give full name and address to the clerk when making payment so the Certificate of Registry will be transferred properly. 5. HEALTH: All animals where possession is sold are eligible for interstate shipment except as otherwise noted. The cattle have been tested for Tuberculosis and Bangs disease within thirty (30) days of the sale date or come from a Brucellosis Certified Free Herd or come from a Brucelosis Certified Free Herd or originate from a Certified Tuberculosis or Bangs free state.. A health certificate will be furnished. 6. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements from the auction box will take precedence over the printed matter in this catalog. All cattle will be sold by lot numbers as announced by the auctioneer. 7. BREEDING GUARANTEE: (A) All animals are guaranteed to be breeders with the exception of (1) injury or disease occurring after sale; (2) negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser. (B) Any bull which either (1) produces viable semen; (2) settles 1/3 or more of the healthy cows he serves; (3) is the sire of 20 or more animals or; (4) settles cows by natural service and passes a fertility test made by a competent veterinarian during any six month trial period, shall be considered a breeder. 7. DONORS: (A) A Female is NOT guaranteed to be a breeder after the date of the sale when that female is used or attempted to be used in an embryo transfer program, unless by a separate agreement between the buyer and seller. (B) Even though it is possible some of the females have worked successfully in embryo transfer programs in the past, and should in the future, there is NO guarantee of warranty on future embryo production of any sale female. 8. LIABILITIES: All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. Cattle Brokers, Inc. has been employed by the consignor(s) of the animals being sold solely for the purpose of advertising and conducting the subject sale. All information regarding the subject animals as published in sales brochures and as announced at the sale is based on the representations made to Cattle Brokers, Inc. by the consignor(s). Cattle Brokers, Inc. has not made any independent investigation to verify and Cattle Brokers, Inc. assumes no liability, either legal or equitable, for failure of title, health registration and lien status of the subject animals; and Cattle Brokers, Inc. makes no representations, either expressed or implied, as to whether or not the subject animals are security under any lien, either legal or equitable. 9. PRIVATE BIDS: Phone bids may be furnished in confidential form to Cattle Brokers, Inc. at (979) 255-4357. 10. OPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENT: (A) All claims for adjustment must be made in writing within six (6) months of the sale date. (B) Any animal that has not proven itself a breeder within the time limits specified above, if in healthy condition, may be returned to seller at buyer’s expense. The seller reserves the right and privilege of trying for a period of six (6) months to prove the animal a breeder. If proven a breeder, the animal will be returned at buyer’s expense. Should the animal fail to breed, the seller will provide a replacement of the animal with another of equal or greater quality. If a replacement animal is not available when needed, a credit will be issued toward your next purchase.
