Hunt Limousin Ranch is a family owned and operated seedstock business. Charlie and Nancy began the operation soon after marrying in 1960 with a modest herd of 350 black baldie females. Charlie began using Limousin bulls in 1978 with no intention of becoming a seedstock producer. However, as more neighbors began to notice the quality of his Limousin-sired calves, Charlie began selling bulls. The demand for HUNT genetics continued to grow, and today, the Hunt program is one of the largest and most wellrespected Limousin operations in the country. Among the many awards and honors the firm has accumulated over the years, one of the most humbling came in 2017 when they were awarded the Beef Improvement Federation Seedstock Producer of the Year Award.
Although the cattle have changed over the years, family, faith and honesty continue to drive every decision. The Hunt family believes in treating others the way they would like to be treated while taking care of the land for future generations and marketing a high-quality product at a fair price.
For over 45 years, Hunt Limousin Ranch has been breeding Limousin and Lim-Flex cattle near Oxford, Nebraska. The core of the program revolves around raising sound, functional, efficient cattle that are designed to work in the commercial industry.
Charlie and Nancy still live on the ranch and play active roles in the business. They are proud to have passed the reins to their youngest son Dan, along with his wife, Melinda, and their children Jenna, Adeline and Houston. They are also proud to have one of their daughters, Sally, and her two boys Charles & Clayton as fulltime help on the farm. Their oldest son, Dave, also helps out whenever he can.

CALVING-EASE ~ GROWTH ~ DOCILITY
Keeping these three fundamentals at the core of every breeding decision, along with multiple other traits, we strive to create a balanced, functional, realworld beef animal. Our bulls and females flat-out work, and they have proven to work in any environment across the country. Across multiple traits, our cattle rank in the top percentiles of the Limousin breed. We are known for producing extremely docile cattle with built-in calving-ease and efficient growth which will make a positive impact on the beef industry.
Our seedstock cattle are not pampered, they must perform. We do not creep feed, this way we know which females are doing their jobs and which ones need to go on down the road!
Being a member of the Limousin Inventory Management System (LIMS), all data is turned in, on every animal. With large contemporary groups, our truthful data is a solid measure and reflection of our herd.
COMMERCIAL BRED HEIFERS
Each year we keep 150-200 heifers off the top end of our calf buy-back program. These heifers are developed and treated exactly like our registered females: pelvic measured, reproductive tract scored, BVD tested, synchronized and AI’ed. They are bred to a breed-leading, Angus calving-ease bull, and will start calving February 10th.
These heifers are available for purchase any time. If you purchase a group before they are bred, we are willing to breed them to the bull of your choice. They will be ultrasound pregnancy checked in mid-August. Whether you need 1 or 100, we can fill the order.
REGISTERED FEMALES
Each year we offer our registered Limousin & Lim-Flex females for sale. They will be AI’ed to leading Limousin, Lim-Flex and Angus sires to begin calving in early February. They can be purchased early in the spring before they are bred, or late in the fall after they are pregnancy checked. They have breed-leading EPD profiles, are extremely docile and will develop into profitable cows.
These ladies are available by Private Treaty. Come anytime, spend as much time as you need to study this great set of females.
FLUSH OPPORTUNITIES/EMBRYOS
We have sold embryos all over the world. You are welcome to pick any of our females to flush—we’d be happy to show you our cow herd! You can purchase the ‘flush rights’ on any female, or purchase embryos. Contact Dan for a list of potential donor cows and to discuss further details.
