SALE INFORMATION
SALE ORDER & SUPPLEMENT: a supplemental sheet will be available sale day. This sheet and any announcements from the block will take precedence over the sale book.
VIDEOS: videos of each lot will be available on our website www.teixeiracattleco.com and our YouTube channel.
TERMS & CONDITIONS: the terms are cash. All cattle will sell under the Terms and Conditions as recommended by the American Angus Association. All announcements at the sale made from the auction block will take precedence over statements made in the sale book. We reserve the right to withdraw any sale lot not meeting our sale specifications at sale time.
LIABILITY: all persons attending the sale do so at their own risk. Neither Teixeira Cattle Co., nor its staff, accept liability.
INSURANCE: Please let us know at check out.
BULL HEALTH GUARANTEE: all bulls selling are test-negative for BVD type 1 and 2. It is estimated that 1-5% of bulls being sold across the country are Persistent Infected (PI) for BVD carriers; at Teixeira Cattle Co. this percentage is ZERO. PI BVD cattle will cause first trimester abortion and create respiratory challenges in stressed calves. PI infected cattle are often difficult to pinpoint and have significant dollar impact. Consistent with our commitment to biosecurity and herd health, all bulls are sold Trich free.
BULL DEVELOPMENT GOALS: these bulls are developed to cover rugged terrain and provide multiple years of good service. We are not interested in supplying fat, overfed, soft-footed bulls that melt away in one breeding season.
HERD HEALTH: all cattle will be accompanied with proper health certificates for immediate shipment to most locations in the United States. If cattle are selling to areas requiring testing, tests will be completed before shipment can be made. Only virgin bulls sell. Any trich test requested for outof-state shipment will be paid by the seller.
ABSENTEE BUYER SUPPORT (ABS): if you are unable to attend Performance Plus, our staff will purchase bulls meeting your personal specifications and will guarantee to do this within your budgeted price. Buyers in the ABS program must be fully satisfied with their bulls upon delivery.
INSURANCE mortality insurance on your purchase can be obtained from James F. Bessler, Inc. at time of settlement.
INDENTIFICATION OF CATTLE: ear tags on all sale cattle will correspond to lot numbers in the sale book.
CUSTOMER APPRECIATION: if you purchased a bull in our 2024 Sale By The Sea or our 2024 Performance Plus Bull Sale, you will receive a 5% discount on all your purchases in the 2025 Performance Plus Bull Sale - our way of saying thanks to past buyers!
WINTERING PROGRAM: Teixeira Cattle Co. is happy to hold your bulls from sale day until April 1, 2025 free of charge if a minimum of $5,000 is spent at Performance Plus 2025. After April 1st, a fee of $5.00 per day for feed will incure. You are more than welcome to winter your bulls with Teixeira Cattle Co. if you spend less than $5,000, however, there will be a fee of $5.00 per day for feed.

Welcome
We are here again! Happy New Year! The 26th Performance Plus Bull Sale…at this current moment we have puddles of water that look more like lakes, we are happy for the water and we know it is good, but it is NOT fun to calve in! We started 2025 off with an onset of calves and it has been a non stop cycle of babies hitting the ground. Ricardo, Nicolas and Lorenzo have been here with us through it all, from the rotating shifts of checking the mommas, to strawing pens, feeding, getting bulls picture and video ready, sale day is moving quickly upon us. We are truly grateful for the crew we have.
Doing what we love, with who we love. Nathan’s contract ends with the Army this spring and is planning to return home to attend OSU cascades in the fall. Joseph is currently at CSI in Twin Falls enjoying his college time and learning all things Diesel Mechanics. Ben is now a sophomore in High School, driving and still loving to play hockey and skiing when he can. Now that he is driving I get extra time to do…I haven’t figured it out yet…it is currently filled with more work, hahaha!
We want to invite you to our Sunday night “Family Dinner” and we will have two guest speakers and we are excited to present information about learning more on heart health, bovine congestive heart failure (BCHF).
Here at Teixeira Cattle Co. we are striving to make good numbered, phenotypically pleasing to the eye, sound and healthy animals. Keeping the importance of wanting what is best for our customers and their herds. We will have groups of commercial females this year, they have all been DNA’d. John and Tom are planning some bull visits before the sale. If time and weather permit, we hope to see you all sale day! If you cannot physically join us, we want to share our Sunday night talks and of course we will have CCi.Live with us to broadcast our sale. Please call us for any questions that you have!

PROFIT BEYOND THE CARCASS
The profitability of the commercial cattleman is impacted by a multitude of traits, most notably stayability of the cow, pounds sold and demand for the calf. In today’s market, the demand for the calf stretches beyond grid potential of the carcass. Gain insight into how to select for the key traits impacting your profitability and what traits are impacting health and performance that we can now select for using genomic tools.

TOM HILL’S VIEW POINTS
• TCC SELECTION PROGRAM
Create a phenotype that emphasizes longevity, function, soundness, and practical size. Superior calving ease, improved feed efficiency.
Size and milk production suited for the Great Basin and California Range conditions.
Outstanding grid premiums based upon yield and outstanding Marbling / Quality grade as measured by % Prime.
THINKING OUT LOUD WITH TEIXEIRA CATTLE CO.
The Teixeira Cattle Co. Genetic Program is based on balanced trait selection. Balanced trait selection is a TCC mission statement and is not idle words. To this important concept, a quick review shows the TCC goals of:
1. Low to moderate calving
2. Above Angus breed averages for moderate growth
3. Superior maternal values
4. Superior carcass merit
5. Outstanding marbling genetic potential
This unique genetic combination of antagonistic traits is backed by decades of selecting for the unique genetics that excel across the genetic measurements, but also are adapted to range conditions in the west. Simply put, the TCC genetics allow you to produce terminal progoney with superior calving ease, above average growth that will create grid premiums...while still maintaining maternal excellence. At TCC, you are participating in 6 generations of Teixeira Family agriculture history. The Teixeira Family legacy appreciates your support of our family.

EPDS EXPLAINED
PRODUCTION
CALVING EASE DIRECT (CED) is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers.
BIRTH WEIGHT (BW) expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires.
WEANING WEIGHT EPD (WW) expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.
YEARLING WEIGHT EPD (YW) expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.
RESIDUAL AVERAGE DAILY GAIN (RADG) expressed in pounds per day, is a predictor of a sire’s genetic ability for postweaning gain in future progeny compared to that of other sires, given a constant amount of feed consumed.
DRY MATTER INTAKE (DMI) expressed in pounds per day, is a predictor of difference transmitting ability for feed intake during the postweaning phase, compared to that of other sires.
SCROTAL CIRCUMFERENCE EPD (SC) expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires.
MANAGEMENT
DOCILITY (DOC) is expressed as a difference in yearling cattle temperament, with a higher value indicating more favorable docility. It predicts the average difference of progeny from a sire in comparison with another sire’s calves. In herds where temperament problems are not an issue, this expected difference would not be realized.
PULMONARY ARTERIAL PRESSURE EPD (PAP) is expressed in millimeters of Mercury (mmHg), with a lower EPD being more favorable indicating a sire should produce progeny with a lower PAP score. PAP score is an indicator of susceptibility to high altitude disease commonly experienced at elevations greater than 5,500 feet.
MATERNAL
HEIFER PREGNANCY (HP) is a selection tool to increase the probability or chance of a sire’s daughters becoming pregnant as first-calf heifers during a normal breeding season. A higher EPD is the more favorable direction and the EPD is reported in percentage units.
CALVING EASE MATERNAL (CEM) is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf daughters. It predicts the average ease with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires.
MATERNAL MILK EPD (MILK) is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability.
CARCASS
CARCASS WEIGHT EPD (CW) expressed in pounds is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
MARBLING EPD (MARB) expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
RIBEYE AREA EPD (RE) expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
FAT THICKNESS EPD (FAT) expressed in inches, is a predictor of the differences in external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.

MATERNAL WEANED CALF VALUE ($M) an index, expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences from conception to weaning with the underlying breeding objective assuming that individuals retain their own replacement females within herd and sell the rest of the cull female and all male progeny as feeder calves. The model assumes commercial producers will replace 25% of their breeding females in the first generation and 20% of their breeding females in each subsequent generation. Traits included are as follows: calving ease direct, calving ease maternal, weaning weight, milk, heifer pregnancy, docility, mature cow weight, claw set and foot angle.
GRID VALUE ($G) an index, expressed in dollars per carcass, to predict profitability differences in progeny due to genetics for carcass grid merit compared to progeny of other sires. The underlying objective assumes producers will market cattle on an above industry-average carcass grid. Traits included in the index are as follows (in no particular order): carcass weight, marbling, ribeye area, and fat.
GRID VALUE ($G) an index, expressed in dollars per carcass, to predict profitability differences in progeny due to genetics for carcass grid merit compared to progeny of other sires. The underlying objective assumes producers will market cattle on an aboveindustry-average carcass grid. Traits included in the index are as follows (in no particular order): carcass weight, marbling, ribeye area, and fat.
BEEF VALUE ($B) a terminal index, expressed in dollars per carcass, to predict profitability differences in progeny due to genetics for postweaning and carcass traits. This terminal index assumes commercial producers wean all male and female progeny, retain ownership of these animals through the feedlot phase and market these animals on a carcass grid. Traits included in the index are as follows: yearling weight, dry-matter intake, marbling, carcass weight, ribeye area and fat.
COMBINED VALUE ($C) an index expressed in dollars per head, includes all traits that make up both $M and $B with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd.
COMBINED VALUE ($C) an index expressed in dollars per head, includes all traits that make up both $M and $B with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd.

LISTING OF THE TOP 10 ANGUS BULLS BY EPDS
LISTING OF THE TOP 10 ANGUS BULLS BY EPDS
For the past four years, we at Teixeira Cattle Co. have been trying to tackle Bovine Congestive Heart Failure (BCHF), through innovative approaches and genetic improvements.
We understand that BCHF hasn’t always been a central focus for the entire industry and with the value of cattle continually increasing, we firmly believe it’s time to shift that perspective.
By trying to use the right genetics, we can make meaningful strides in starting to minimize death loss in feed cattle while addressing this critical issue.
We are excited to introduce our bull Lot 1

TEX Look Out 2038, we believe he has the potential to make a transformative impact. With an excellent phenotype and a balanced number package, this bull stands out as a game changer in the fight against BCHF.
The thing that makes him special is how well he performs on growth traits while still being in the top 10% of the largest data sets for BCHF.
We are making a STRIDE in the right direction to lower the cardiac risks while maintaining and enhancing all other traits.
Look Out will not be on display, he is at Hoffman AI Breeders in Utah being collected.
John wishes the bull could be here on sale day, he’s so much better in person, he was still in his working clothes when we took his picture!

ASA EXPLAINED
EXPECTED PROGENY DIFFERENCES (EPD): are the most accurate and effective tool available for comparing genetic levels. In using EPDs, the difference between two sires’ EPDs represents the unit difference expected in the performance of their progeny. For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes visit www. simmental.org. Listed below are the units ASA EPDs are expressed in:
ALL-PURPOSE INDEX (API): Dollars per cow exposed under an all-purpose-sire scenario. (See below for more details.)
BACK FAT (BF): Inches of backfat.
BIRTH WEIGHT (BW): Pounds of birth weight.
CALVING EASE (CE): Percent of unassisted births when used on heifers.
CARCASS WEIGHT (CW): Pounds of carcass weight.
MATERNAL CALVING EASE (MCE): Percent of unassisted births in first-calving daughters.
MILK (MLK): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk.
MARBLING (MRB): Marbling score.
MATERNAL WEANING WEIGHT (MWW): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth.
RIBEYE AREA (REA): Square inches of ribeye.
STAYABILITY (STAY): Percent of daughters remaining in the cowherd at 6 years of age.
TERMINAL INDEX (TI): Dollars per cow exposed under a terminal-sire scenario.
WEANING WEIGHT (WW): Pounds of weaning weight.
YEARLING WEIGHT (YW): Pounds of yearling weight.
YIELD GRADE (YG): Yield grade score.
$ INDEXES: Though EPDs allow for the comparison of genetic levels for many economically important traits, they only provide a piece of the economic puzzle. That’s where $ indexes come in. Through well- conceived, rigorous mathematical computation, $ indexes blend EPDs and economics to estimate an animal’s overall impact on your bottom line. The same technology that led to the dramatic progress in swine, poultry and dairy genetics over the last several decades was used to develop the following $ indexes:
ALL-PURPOSE INDEX (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield.
TERMINAL INDEX (TI): Evaluates sire for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield.
USING API AND TI: First, determine which index to use; if you’re keeping replacements use API, if not, TI. Then, just as with EPDs, zero in on the unit difference between bulls. (As described above, index units are in dollars per cow exposed.) The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes visit www.simmental.org.

Igenity Total Cow Connection
Bringing Genomic Testing Full Circle
Providing information with the commercial cattleman in mind. Igenity testing with the development of the Teixeira Cattle Co. custom index, TCC Igenity, strives to make bull buying an easy and accurate as possible.
• First and only test designed for Angus. By Angus.
• Provides highly accurate GE-EPDs on Seedstock animals
• Includes research content to further the breed
All Bulls Also Tested on Igenity:
• Commerical crossbred DNA profile sold by Neogen
• Estimates genetic merit for 16 traits
• Help select replacement heifers that inherited the best genes
Once you have received Igenity results on your females, you can use the Igenity scores to pick which of our bulls best fit in your breeding program.
Finally, commerical producers have an estimate of genetic merit they can take home and make breeding decisions with.
OUR STORY A few years ago, we joined forces with Neogen to make our cows and bulls speak the same DNA language, which allows us to create an easy-to-read, custom selection index based on Igenity DNA testing. This program is called Igenity Total Cow Connection (I-TCC). We are testing our bulls with the same program with which you can test your cows. It provides you the opportunity to better choose a bull that will ‘steer’ your cowherd in the direction of your choice. It will also assist you in finding the most profitable females in your herd. We are excited to be working alongside Igenity to provide more profitable opportunities for our customers. There will also be Igenity TCC informational catalogs available on sale day or visit our website www.teixeiracattleco.com to download the digital catalog.
On sale day, John Teixeira and Tom Hill will be available to go over I-TCC. Please feel free to ask us any questions about Igenity TCC. If you need the I-TCC full number breakdown on this set of bulls, we will have copies at registration.
The I-TCC Index numbers for all lots will be at the back of the sale book.
