Vision Angus 2025 Sale

Page 1

Welcome to our 27th Anniverary Sale!

Our family had a couple milestone events this past year. Austin married his best friend, Sarah, and Alex graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska. Currently, everyone is involved in the farm and ranch with Alex living at home and Austin and Sarah residing in Holyoke. We all have our roles and responsibilities. If it wasn’t clear before, it is obvious now that our cow herd needs to be profitable to support all of us financially. It is easy to say “Our cowherd is the result of 30 some years of genetic selection” but it’s another to have that cow herd keep our family in business and help plan for future growth and sustainability. Clearly, Vision Angus is the future of our family.

We also know that your family and business success is a result of our genetics that you may select at our production sale. What we do for genetic selection in 2025 will affect our families for several years. In fact, when you select bulls this year for your operation, their genetics will have an impact in 2030 and beyond!

Knowing the long-term effects of how we breed cattle places a daunting burden on our research and decisions. We take this responsibility very seriously and conduct extensive research before deciding how we mate females to produce the bulls we offer for sale.

We encourage you to have great confidence that selecting Vision Angus bulls and females will have a positive lasting effect on your cow herd and family business. Please contact us with questions and we encourage you to ask questions about the cattle. We will do our best to ask you the right questions about your operation, so we can suggest the proper genetics for your needs.

Thank you for considering our program and we invite you to - Create a Vision for your Cow Herd on Monday, March 3rd.

Sincerely,

LOT 1

Age Advantaged and Balanced in Design and EPDs! Bulls like Lot 5 fuel our passion for breeding quality Angus cattle for our customers. We’re excited for you to evaluate him. As we watched these Judgement fall bulls develop last year, we continually commented on how we wished we had one more to have a pen of 3 full brothers to take to the National Western Stock Show. We are so confident in the Judgement x 202 mating that you honestly can’t go wrong in selecting between Lots 2-6. We can’t stress enough how slender the Judgements have been at birth. We haven’t assisted any of them – they come fast and are just as fast and vigorous to get up and nurse. These fall bulls have been developed right to ensure their longevity and athleticism. Top 4% DMI, 15% SC, 20% Claw, 35% Angle, 2% HS and 10% $EN.

A Priority!

Hoof shape and structure significantly determines the longevity of the bull and his progeny. Lack of attention toward this in the last 30 years in the Angus breed has had a negative impact on our cow herds, the Angus breed and beef industry. Much of this was due to single trait selection for carcass traits and extreme EPDs without concern for foot integrity and structure.

At Vision Angus, foot quality is a high priority in our genetic selection. Researching sires and genetic lines has become a fulltime job for us. Montana Judgement 1038 and LT Prairie Rain 2002 both have superior feet. We purchased three herd bulls this past year and they all have superior hoof quality. This is one trait in the toolbox of genetics that needs to be good for all our cow herds regardless of endpoint.

The hoof pictures here are all from these Montana Judgement sons selling.

Here’s the Judgement son that has most impressed Tina post-weaning. She commented often on how Lot 7 was growing and developing into an elite prospect. Tying for the heaviest Adj.
