MANAGERS NOTES AMY MCDONALD

Welcome to our game against Stirling University. Today is an important match for us after the result against Glasgow City last time out. After last week we need to gather ourselves and put on a performance that represents that standard we expect of ourselves. We recognise we let everyone down and have to put a wrong right. The players have worked tirelessly this week to ensure we come into this match with intensity and focus to get the three points. Stirling have a number of good players and we need to ensure we match and compete with them in every single area of the pitch. Thank you for your continued support.

Amy

Our Team Bond Is Strong

RANGERS striker Carla Boyce believes that the team bond is as strong as ever despite a number of rocky results in recent weeks as the team gear up to take on Stirling University at home in the Scottish Building Society SWPL. Coming off the back of a difficult match against Glasgow City, Boyce insists the Rangers squad are fully focused and ready for the match up against Stirling thanks to the return of key players. “The team is looking strong and we have the full squad back. The whole squad are ready for the game on Sunday.

“We have come together as a team once again and worked very hard this week in preparation for the game.” With a full rotation of league matches already played, Rangers have taken three points off Stirling University this season and while the team are positive, Boyce is aware of the threat from Stirling.

She said: “We take each game as it comes, every game we play in the SWPL will be difficult, no matter the opponent. “As a team, we know that we must take our chances when they come, and we must start the game well.” Having already scored against Stirling this season, Boyce is ready to add to her tally but admits that while she enjoys the thrill of a goal, it is the win that matters.

“It’s always nice to get on the score sheet but on Sunday, as long as we get the three points, it doesn’t really matter who finds the back of the net.”

Muir: A Massive Moment

AMY MUIR described being the first Women’s Player of the Year at the club’s prestigious Player of the Year Awards as a “massive moment”. The 19-year-old picked up her honour in front of the crowds, alongside the club’s male players, on a ground-breaking evening for the women’s game at the club. The Scotland Under 19 shone for Amy McDonald’s team during the 2018 season and has continued her form into 2019, including sparkling displays for her country – in fact she rushed from playing England to collect her award. Speaking to RangersTV she smiled:

“It means so much, being along tonight to pick it up is huge for the women’s game and for the women’s side of the club to be along tonight is massive. “It is great to represent the women’s team here and it was a big moment for me. I have supported the club and been a part of the club for so long so this was enjoyable.

“I do think this is beginning of new things for my Rangers career and the club. You see a lot going on behind the scenes and there is a new atmosphere about the women’s side – there is a lot more to come.

“I think this is a big moment for women’s football with the Scottish women’s team qualifying for the World Cup this summer.” “I played England today with Scotland and then rushed here, we had a really good game and drew 1-1. “My Scotland career is massive to me too and it’s a huge honour representing the national team. “I have played for Scotland all through the age groups and this will be my final year up to the summer with the Under 19s.”

CAPTAIN’S NOTES CLARE GEMMELL

Good afternoon and welcome to the game. Today’s game against Stirling is one that we should expect to take three points from. We have had varying results over the last few games and the players know that we can perform to higher standards. We need to take care in every aspect of training and games to establish consistency in our performances. Stirling are a determined and aggressive side and I am sure they will be coming here with their own point to prove. We must ensure that we match that determination and take control of the game which will allow us to play our own style of football.

Enjoy the game,

Clare

GETTING TO KNOW NICOLE PULLAR Position: Striker Occupation: A bit of a mixture just now. Working a bit as a home carer and working with young carers as well. Where did you grow up? Fife Which team did you support growing up? Rangers What was the first team you played for? Back home in Lochgelly, it was their boys team. I started back in primary six. Who was your favourite player growing up? Has to be Claudio Caniggia. I was always so fascinated by him, I wouldn’t brush my hair or anything so I could have the rag and rats tails like him. Maurice Ross called me Claudio one time after him and it made my day! What was your first strip? It would be a Rangers top for sure, there’s so many pictures of me in them because my family is full of bluenoses. Who is the best player you’ve played alongside? Ruesha Littletjohn. She’s full of nonsense, but she’s technically so good. All round, she’s such an excellent person to have in a team. How would you describe your taste in music? Absolutely brutal. Celine Dion, I made my mum come all the way down to London to see her once. What is the most used app on your phone? Probably Twitter.

VS

STIRLING UNIVERSITY

Who has had the most influence in your career? My dad, by a mile. He still comes to watch me in every game. Do you have any pets? I’ve got a dog called Simba. He’s a big Labrador and is about the size of a Shetland pony. What was your first game you attended? It was actually at Dunfermline, but it was a Rangers game. I remember sitting in the home stand, but was just getting up and cheering anyway. I was a bit wild and wouldn’t have cared. If you had to cook a meal for someone what would you cook? I wouldn’t be trusted in a kitchen, for a start. Microwave meals would be about all I was allowed to make someone. Which player past or present would you most like to play alongside? I think that everyone now would probably want to play alongside wee Erin Cuthbert. She’s untouchable just now! If you were to spend a day in one of your teammate’s shoes who would it be and why? Jade Baille, because she just floats through life. Nothing fazes her and everything is just one big laugh.
