MANAGERS NOTES GREGORY VIGNAL
Welcome to today’s Old Firm game at The Hummel Training Centre. It is a big game today and we have got to show our character and desire in front of our home crowd, so it is important to show the right attitude. I think we are much stronger right now than the last time we faced Celtic. It was my ďŹ rst league game in charge and I am sure we are stronger physically, mentally and tactically then we were at the beginning of August. I think the girls understand more now what it takes to be a winner and the mentality of a winner. We had a few days off this week because it was a tough period with three games in a week. Hopefully the girls will be refreshed and ready for the game today because they need to understand what it means to win an Old Firm game.
Thank you for your continued support.

Brogan Hay feels Rangers have improved massively since the last Old Firm tie
RANGERS forward Brogan Hay feels they have a point to prove in today’s Old Firm derby at The Hummel Training Centre. The 20-year-old, who was this week voted as SWPL player of the month for August/September, said the Gers have improved massively since the sides last met at the beginning of August. Celtic ran out 3-1 winners at that last meeting at K-Park, but Hay says Rangers have to show confidence going into this game. She said: “I think in the last Old Firm game we didn’t start off too well, but we started to gain some confidence in the second-half and we have obviously been playing our style of play for a wee whikle now. “I think we are really finding our feet and if we just stay confident within each other I think we can do really well. “I think we have improved massively, we have had really tough games and we know we can now compete with tough teams. “I think we have got it in us now and Greg is confident in us, so as long as we are confident in each other on the pitch I think we will do well.” Hay returned to action last Sunday, playing half an hour against Hibs after a recent hamstring injury. She added: “I think it was just an overload but I was pleased to come on in the game and I felt fine which was good so I am happy to be back playing. “We know it wasn’t good enough last Sunday and we know we are better than that so we need to go out and show we are better than that and give Celtic a good game.”

On Monday, Hay was presented with SWPL Player of the Month for August/September after being voted by fans for the prize. The 20-year-old is the first Rangers WFC player to lift the monthly award following a series of impressive performances. After picking up an injury on the final day of last season, she was sidelined for 10 months and only returned to the pitch in August, making the award all the more special. She explained: “I am really pleased to get this award for August and September because they were my first two months back playing since I took a bad ankle injury in the last two months of the season last year.
“
“I think it was 10 months in total I was out for so I was really pleased to be nominated for the award.
“It was really difficult at the time because I didn’t expect to be out for that long but I came back and here I am, still playing.”

MATCH REPORT HIBERNIAN LADIES 8 RANGERS WFC 0 20 October 2019 | Ainslie Park | SWPL 1
IT was a difficult afternoon for Rangers Women as they lost 8-0 to Hibs at Ainslie Park. The Gers were 4-0 down at the break as the second-placed SWPL side piled on the pressure. Gregory Vignal made two changes to his side from Wednesday’s 4-3 victory over Motherwell as the suspended Chantelle Brown was replaced in the starting eleven by Shelley Campbell, while Khym Ramsay replaced Chloe Nicolson in goal. Hibs opened the scoring on the 6th minute as Jamie-Lee Napier played the ball through to Rachael Boyle on the edge of the box with her strike beating Khym Ramsay in the Rangers goal. The hosts came close to doubling their lead just a few minutes later as Napier again drove forward with the ball, Ramsay got a touch but the it fell kindly for Napier again as she was through on an empty goal but her effort was cleared off the line by defender Chelsie Watson. The second did come for Hibs on the 14th minute as Napier played a ball forward to Rachael Boyle who beat the offside trap to tap home from close range. Hibs continued to press as Colette Cavanagh hit the bar with her strike before the referee awarded a free-kick after a foul on the edge of the box. Captain Joelle Murray stepped up to take the free-kick and curled the ball into the right-hand side of the net. Hibs added a fourth after just 22 minutes as Boyle’s free-kick was headed home by Siobhan Hunter. The hosts had another good chance before the break as Napier fired another dangerous cross into the box but it was just behind Gallagher

Khym Ramsay had a good save for Rangers early in the second half as Jamie-Lee Napier picked out Boyle inside the box but her strike was saved by the keeper. Boyle had her hat-trick for Hibs on the 57th minute as she got on the end of a ball from Siobhan Hunter to round the keeper and slot into an empty net. There was a sixth on the hour mark as a corner swung in by Boyle dropped for Shannon McGregor to touch the ball home from close range. Gregory Vignal made a triple change to his side with half an hour remaining as Hannah Robertson, Brogan Hay and Jade Gallon came on to replace Carla Boyce, Ellis Dalgliesh and Holly Napier. McGregor had her second of the afternoon on the 65th minute as she headed home after a high ball was put into the box by Lauren Davidson. Hibs added an eighth on 10 minutes later as Jamie-Lee Napier picked up the rebound from a save and drilled a low effort into the back of the net from the edge of the box. Rangers: Ramsay, Brownlie, Watson, L. Gallon, Bourma, Dalgliesh (J. Gallon, 61), O’Hara (Honeyman, 68), Gemmell, Boyce (H. Robertson, 61), Napier (Hay, 61), Campbell. Subs not used: Baillie. CAPTAIN’S NOTES CLARE GEMMELL
Welcome to The Hummel Training Centre for this afternoon’s game against Celtic. We know that it will be a tough test today and we are expecting them to be up for the game. We feel that we fell short of our best in our last meeting against Celtic in August and we will be looking to rectify that today. Over the past few weeks we have had mixed performances, although at times we have shown that we are capable of producing some great football. There is an added element to this game with it being an Old Firm but we need to approach it in the correct manner. It is our second last home game of the season and we will be looking to secure all three points but we will need everyone in the squad to perform so that we can reach the levels that are required to do that.
Enjoy the game,
Clare
