MANAGERS NOTES GREGORY VIGNAL
Welcome to this afternoon’s home game against Forfar Farmington at the Hummel Training Centre. It was a good win last weekend against Stirling University, we didn’t play well in the first-half but in the second half we played much better and respected the game plan and scored some good goals. I said at half time to the girls that they need to show their character and be strong mentally and after half-time it was much better and they understood the message. We have been working really hard over the last 10 weeks to get that win last weekend and we are looking to try and build on it now. We have had some really positive results so it is important that we continue to keep doing what we are doing. We watched Forfar’s game against Motherwell on the TV and we were really impressed with them. We thought they set up really well so we know today will be a tough game and we have to set up in the right manner to make sure that we get the three points.
Thank you for your continued support.
Gregory

MATCH REPORT STIRLING UNIVERSITY 1 RANGERS WFC 4 22 September 2019 | Ochilview Park | SWPL 1
RANGERS came from behind to win 4-1 against Stirling University last Sunday afternoon. Stirling Uni were ahead after a Jade Menzies strike midway through the first-half but goals from Lisa Martinez, Daina Bourma, Lauren Gallon and Rosie Mcquillan saw the Gers comfortably leave Ochilview with all three points. Emma Brownlie had an early chance going forward for Rangers as she swung a cross into the box on the 3rd minute which was bunched away by Whitaker in the home goal. Chances were limited for either side in the early stages of the game with Stirling setting up an opportunity on the 14th minute as a good cross was delivered into the box but was just too far for any of their strikers to get a touch to divert it towards goal. Rangers had their first shot on target on the 21st minute as Carla Boyce turned well in the middle of the pitch to find Brogan Hay who drove towards goal before getting a shot away which was saved by Whitaker. Stirling Uni took the lead on the 26th minute as Jade Menzies drilled a low shot beyond Jade Baillie after a cross into the box. Rangers had a chance shortly after as Carla Boyce was through one-on-one with the keeper and got her shot away under pressure from a Stirling Uni defender but it was just wide of the target. As Gregory Vignal’s side looked for an equaliser Brogan Hay had a free kick from 25-yards out saved by Whitaker. The leveller did come just a few minutes later as Lisa Martinez headed home a corner from Clare Gemmell for her first goal for the club.

Rangers started the second-half as they ended the first taking the lead just three minutes after the restart. Daina Bourma was played in down the left and shot across goal beating Whitaker to net her first goal for the club. The Gers had a third as Clare Gemmell’s corner was headed down by Lisa Martinez before being tapped in at the back post by Lauren Gallon. Gregory Vignal’s team were in control in the second half and added a fourth on the 75th minute as 15-year-old Rosie Mcquillan curled an effort past the goalkeeper from outside the box. Jade Gallon had a chance to get her second of the game as Rosie Mcquillan found her run with a good touch but the strikers shot drifted just over the target. A late chance for Rangers saw Lisa Martinez find herself forward but her curling effort landed just wide of the target. Rangers: Baillie, Brownlie, L. Gallon (Cameron, 76), Martinez, Dalgliesh (Brown 57), Gemmell, O’Hara (Mcquillan, 65), Napier, Hay (Macdonald, 65), Boyce (J. Gallon, 45) Bourma. Subs: H. Robertson, Watson.

CAPTAIN’S NOTES CLARE GEMMELL
Welcome along to this afternoon’s SWPL 1 game against Forfar Farmington. We will go into today’s game with confidence off of the back of our 4-1 win against Stirling University last Sunday. Having said that we need to improve on our consistency of performance going forward and into the end of the season. We know what to expect from Forfar after the cup game at the end of last month and I am sure they will have a point to prove following their cup defeat to us. We need to approach the game with professionalism and with the correct attitude to ensure that we finish the game with three points.
Enjoy the game,
Clare
