YAN JACK took some time out during a break from training at the Rangers Training Centre recently to meet with kids at the Summer Soccer Schools. The Gers midfielder was delighted to pose for pictures, sign autographs and take part in a question and answer session with the young fans. He said: “The kids are excited to see you and they want a bit of feedback on how you grew up and how you became a professional football player. “It’s great to be able to give a bit back and give them a bit of knowledge from your time in the game.” Kids who take part in the courses receive >

expert coaching and take part in warmups, training drills, games and exciting tournaments to showcase their skills. The courses allow fans to develop their skills, meet new friends, to get outside and most importantly have fun in a safe environment. Not just that, Rangers coaches are always on the look out to identify the next potential Light Blue hero of the future to recommend to the Elite Football Centre and to join the abundance of youth players who have already been talent spotted from Rangers Soccer School courses. LOVENKRANDS RELISHING A RETURN TO AUCHENHOWIE AS A COACH

>

11

ELEVEN years after departing the Rangers Football Centre for what he thought was the final time, Peter Lovenkrands is back.

Appointed as the club’s new under-15s coach, Lovenkrands began work in Milngavie last week, and he has loved every minute of it so far. Like most footballers, they live for that dressing room environment, and Lovenkrands has been thrilled to find that alive and kicking in the coaches’ office in the youth wing of the training centre. While admitting it took a little bit of time to get used to coming in as a coach as opposed to a player, he is settling in well and feels he is adapting to life on the other side. He said: “Of course it’s different, but it’s great just to be coming in the doors, walking down the corridors and seeing people again having not been around for a few years. “The banter between the coaches is great, and I love being around that again and it’s something I feel like I have missed. “The first couple of days were all about getting me in, getting used to it, getting used to the players I’m going to be working with, meeting all the staff I’m going to be around, finding out the ways it’s going to be working and organising a number of things.

Lovenkrands celebrates scoring against FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League in September 2005.

20K IN 2017 CAMPAIGN

20K IN 2017 CAMPAIGN 12

>

RANGERS V OLYMPIQUE MARSEILLE • SATURDAY 22 ND JULY 2017

RANGERS YOUTH DEVELOPMENT COMPANY

T

he Rangers Youth Development Company launched their ‘£20k in 2017’ campaign at the end of last season and more than 3,500 supporters have already signed up. A new, simplified Direct Debit system for fans is now in operation and additional revenue raised will significantly increase the already impressive RYDC yearly donation to the Rangers Youth Programme - £175,000 was presented to the club in January.

Rangers Lotto is a hugely successful RYDC product and for just £1 fans have access to two weekly draws plus a monthly rollover draw for up to £25,000. All profits from the ‘£20k in 2017’ campaign will be directed to Rangers Football Club’s youth programme. RYDC is proud to continue its unwavering commitment to our youth programme and to highlight this, RYDC has donated over £7million in the last 15 years to the Academy. Colin Stewart, Director of Operations at RYDC, commented “I would like to thank all supporters who have signed to our campaign so far. “Quite simply, the more money we can raise through this initiative, the more we can donate to our Academy. Our new Rangers Lotto campaign has a refreshing new appeal as we are introducing real Rangers fans from existing Rangers Supporters’ Clubs. However, the Rangers Lotto brand is still familiar to our fanbase and it is this familiarity I want to develop and strengthen.”

13

Craig Mulholland, Rangers Head of Academy, commented: “On behalf of everyone at the Academy I would like to thank our fans for their continued backing and Colin Stewart and the Rangers Youth Development Company team for their incredible support. RYDC’s yearly donations make a massive difference to the Academy and our new ambitious plans, I have no doubt their new ‘£20K in 2017 campaign will be a huge success.” Under 20s coach Graeme Murty added: “I am delighted to lend my support once again to the Rangers Youth Development Company and I echo Craig’s thanks for their continued support. Donating more than £7 million in the last 15 years is a fantastic total and it is greatly appreciated. I encourage as many fans as possible to sign up and back this campaign and I wish everyone taking part in Rangers Lotto every success in the weekly draws.” THE OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME OF RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB <
