AWildMattAppeared -(Matthew) - The Cartoonist

Matthew stumbled upon RAoA after having a really rough year. RAoA has shown him that there are still great people who do good things just for the sake of being nice. He’s also seen that there are people just as awkward as he is who accept and support him for who he is. He’s currently working as a product specialist, but training to be a product manager. His dream job is to be an animator. He would love to have his own wacky show on Cartoon Network. Matthew loves his creative side and often spends his time drawing or finding a new craft to dive into. He loves comics, music and T.V. shows with a particular soft spot for The Doctor and comedies like The Office. He went on a huge weight loss journey and lost 200 lbs - can we all just give a round of applause for that? His grandfather is rumored to have had ties to the mafia and before his mother met his father she was engaged to a lesser known serial killer. He’s also terribly afraid of moths. Get to know Matthew and maybe he’ll draw something just for you!

Yohohoandabottle1 (Sarah) - The Candy Woman

RAoA has impacted Sarah’s life in such a positive way. She is now more willing to cheer up and gift others than she ever was. She currently works at a sweet shop which is great for her mood but not so great for her diet. Her dream job is to become a biology teacher. She loves reading especially books like Harry Potter or crime novels. She also loves movies. Her favorite is either The Goonies or The Lost Boys. She’s allergic to strawberries and her unique username comes from the fact that the day she had to create a username she had “Yo Ho Ho” stuck in her head. Next time you see her around be sure to get to know her!

bunnysoup (Kim) - Winner of All The Stuff

Kim is best known for her “Win Stuff” contests. She hates bunnies and them being boiled into oblivion makes her happy. That is the reason behind her username, which makes a lot of sense. RAoA means community and friendship to her. She sees and deals with a lot of the evil in the world at her job and it’s nice for her to have an outlet where people do nice things just because. She currently does clerical work for a law enforcement agency, but her dream job is a tie between owning her own wool shop or digging up dinosaurs. She loves things like running, knitting, watching Buffy and drinking adult beverages. She also loves performing her own one woman rendition of Broadway musicals for an audience of her cats. She was willing to provide us with five interesting facts about herself and here they are: an irrational fear of mustard, her tattoo of Dobby from Harry Potter, her crush on James May from Top Gear, the fact that she has never ingested a bunny (which is nice clarification), and that she can never seem to take a normal picture. If she could travel back in time she’d go to the late Cretaceous period where she would find a friendly T-Rex, name him Pete, and teach him how to fetch.

DizzyVonBlue (Cynthia) - The Vegetarian

Prior to Cynthia finding RAoA she was dealing with a personal struggle and surrounded by people in the same situation who were pretty bitter. She had very little faith in humanity but RAoA completely changed her views of the world. She is in awe that people that don’t even know her care about her and she is now striving to be more like those that inspire her. She currently has been with her fiancé for 8 years and they have a 6 year old son together. She is working towards getting a degree in sociology and she hopes to help couples with infertility problems or possibly abused children. She loves drawing, makeup and all sorts of crafts. She would like to do some sort of professional work with her art in the future. She has tattoos and stretched ears. She loves to read and she recently joined a roller derby. Cynthia has been a vegetarian for over 13 years now and she loves to drink hot sauce. Next time you see her be sure to try to get to know her more!

xaffinityx (Courtney) - The Exotic Animal Lover

The RAoA community means the world to Courtney. She loves signing in after a bad day, coming to see how everyone else is and seeing all the smiling faces. She is currently working towards finishing up a degree in Health Information and is excited to start her career in the medical field. Though she’d really love to work with animals someday, she just hasn’t found her way into that yet. She loves movies (particularly animated films), going boating, fishing, and making macramé bracelets. She also really enjoys bird watching. She has all sorts of exotic animals such as parrots and reptiles. At the age of 12 she was a cook at her parents Thai restaurant. If she could go anywhere in the world she’d love to go to New Zealand to study the parrots there. Catch up with Courtney sometimes soon!

Carrieisonfire (Carrie) - The Cat Dresser Carrie has met some really amazing people through RAoA that she considers to be great friends and hopes to stay in contact with for the rest of her life. She’s currently organizing a London meetup for RAoA users and says that she would have never have thought of doing something like that before joining RAoA. She feels as though her whole experience had has made her a more confident person. Her favorite part of RAoA is a tie between CompliMonday and the Friday “Claim Me” activities. She doesn’t currently have a proper job but she’s working towards getting a degree in media studies and entertainment technology. She doesn’t have a set dream job because she’s always changing her mind! Although, her parents won’t let her forget that when she was little she wanted to work in a jam factory. She loves dressing up her cat Thomas, photography, traveling (she says she’s no Chronos42, but she has been to 4 different countries this year), going to concerts, going to a pub with friends and wasting full nights online playing CAH with everyone. If she could go anywhere, she would love to go to the USA particularly New Jersey to meet scrumtrelescent who Carrie believes to be the American version of herself. Next time you’re playing CAH, keep an eye out for her!

SailoLee (Jackie) - The Future Novelist

Jackie has met some really cool, thoughtful people through RAoA that she considers to be really good friends and her favorite part would have to be the activities. She is currently a carhop at Sonic, but she has dreams of owning her own bakery and writing on the side. She loves reading, movies, and music. She collects Holiday Barbies and started at the age of two months. It’s become more of an obsession for her now. She has a hard time remembering things that have happened in the past five minutes, but she can remember tiny details about cartoons she watched as a child. She would love to see Egypt some day. Try to catch Jackie around some of RAoA’s activities!

naive_eve (Courtney) - The Prankster

Courtney truly believes in karma and that you get what you put out. This is one of the main reasons why she loves RAoA. She tries to give in all aspects of her life. She currently is an ultrasound technician for two different facilities, though her full time job is in pediatrics. She loves every second of her jobs and considers it to be her dream job even though sometimes it requires her to deal with some heartbreaking situations. She loves to read and is obsessed with her kindle. She enjoys watching bad TV including reality TV, cooking shows, and sitcoms. Courtney skipped 2nd grade but didn’t finish college until she was 30. She had bariatric surgery 2 years ago and lost 110 lbs (Another round of applause is in order!). She also considers herself to be super immature and is great at coming up with schemes and pranks. She often can convince others to carry them out. Be sure to make it a point to get to know Courtney some more!

silenceforsilence (Kathleen) - The Music Master RAoA means that Kathleen always has someone that she can count on to listen to her. She loves the support of the community. She is currently living her dream as a church pianist, cantor, and music teacher. She loves to bake and sing. She loves reading and practically breathes paper and ink. She enjoys all types of music although alternative is her favorite. She owns chickens and a horse and loves taking care of them. Kathleen also plays many instruments including the harp, violin, cello and piano. She is what she considers to be “country elegant” and has a southern accent to match. Learn more about Kathleen next time you see her around the sub!

caprinae (Shannon) - The Crafter

RAoA has changed Shannon’s life in a major way. She loves that she can bring smiles so many other user’s faces. She thinks RAoA is just one giant family and like all families we have our differences but at the end of the day we love and support each other in the best ways that we know how. Currently she is unemployed by choice and she plans to spend the next couple of months trying to get her life back in order. Her dream job would be something where she could work outdoors with plants and animals. She loves crafting and giving people homemade gifts. She really enjoys reading and always has about ten books on her nightstand waiting for their turn on top. She has also taken a recent interest in comic books and graphic novels. She grew up in Las Vegas and just moved back after living in North Carolina for 5 years. While she was in North Carolina she volunteered for several farm advocacy groups. She has an obsession with Doctor Who and if she could go anywhere she would hop in the Tardis and go everywhere with the doctor. Keep an eye out for Shannon she is currently working to help create a craft club on RAoA!

mouthie (Erica) - The Family Woman

RAoA has become more than just about gifts and gifting for Erica. She loves celebrating every part of the community with everyone. She feels as though it’s a place where she can help out others because she’s been in the same places that others are in currently. She works full time at a group home caring for disabled adults and loves every minute of it. She and her husband own a concession business where they travel all around Iowa for country fairs and festivals and sell mini donuts and smoothies. She hasn’t been able to travel much due to her current health concerns but she takes pride in the fact that she still gets to boss everyone around. She has been married for 22 years and has three kids; Carissa, Alex, and Liz. They are all adults now, but they still live at home along with Carissa’s BFF and Alex’s girlfriend. Erica is fine with that though because she loves a full house. Spending time with her family is her number one priority, although she loves to read and watch cheesy lifetime movies as well. Her username stems from the fact that she used to have quite the mouth on her. It’s still there but only comes out when necessary now. One day she hopes to visit NYC and see the ocean. Next time you see Erica be sure to give her a warm internet hug!

Rubenick (Robin) - A User That's Been Here Through It All

Robin comes to us from Finland. He was one of the users who originally came here from 4chan. He was sad to see the Amazon Threads disappear from there one day. He decided to google some of the usernames he remembered and stumbled upon the reddit community. He was so excited to jump back in and has been with us ever since. He particularly loves the great discussion posts on RAoA. He can sit here and talk for hours until he realizes it’s 3 in the morning. He currently makes websites but hopes to one day become a graphic designer despite being colorblind. He loves playing around with photoshop, doing archery over the summers, listening to heavy metal music, and watching classic horror movies. He’s a huge Batman and Robin fan, he’s terrified of snakes and he loves crafting things with his hands. He also served in the Finnish Navy in 2012. Monaco is his number one must see place to visit. We all hope to see Robin around RAoA for years to come!

Utinni (Mark) - The Survivor

RAoA is a place where Mark can go and chat with users all over the country and even the world. His favorite part would have to be gifting others. He loves brightening other people’s days. He is currently an Electrical Engineer in the oil and gas industry. His dream job would be to one day become an F1 racer. He loves playing Magic the Gathering, working on cars, playing basketball and golf, and playing video games. He is a cancer survivor and has been in remission for 10 years from Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Due to deterioration caused by the treatments for the cancer, he has had both hips and both shoulders replaced with titanium plates and he now sets off metal detectors. He’d love to travel all over space if it were possible. Get to know Mark some more next time you see him around.

Akeleie (Marja) - The Creator RAoA is Marja’s sunshine in a dark season. She joined the sub out of curiosity, but stayed for the community. At the moment she is a full time student who takes photography jobs and works at a creative youth club for troubled kids on the side. She’s been studying art history and her dream is to be like Robert Langdon, just without the risking her life part. She loves crafting and often gets crazy ideas and teaches herself new techniques to try and play those crazy ideas out. Crocheting, gaming, and drawing are her favorite things to do. She also loves traveling and has visited most of Europe, but hopes to one day visit another continent. Though she is Norwegian she actually types faster in English than Norwegian. She is easily frightened and is really, really scared of spiders. Stumble on over to her favorite spots on RAoA, tinychat and IRC, and see if you can catch up with her sometime!

MarsAndTheRealGirl (Tiffany) - The Ruler of all Galaxies Tiffany used to be under a different username, but she has been with us for almost a year and a half now. She’s had many ups and downs, but she met her best friend on RAoA and she treasures that. She’s also met many friends that formed an amazing support system and family for her in a time when she needed it most. She currently works at a local music shop and a local music venue/ bar. In her perfect world, she wouldn’t have either of those jobs because she would be supporting herself selling her own handmade cosmetic products. She often spends her time in her art room creating and working on her etsy shop. She loves journaling and writes pretty much every day. She also loves reading even though she doesn’t have much time to do it. She was once interviewed by the New York Times. She has been sober since April 11th, 2013. She used to be a cake decorator and has decorated over 100 unique cakes including a to scale guitar cake. If she could go anywhere she’d love to be where all of her friends are since they all live far away. She also would love to go into the future. Be on the lookout for her and maybe even her etsy shop!

ladybrowncoat (Kristin) - The New Mommy

Kristin found RAoA right at the perfect time for her. She had just had her baby and was stuck in her house for days. She had little to no contact with others and this caused some bouts of sadness and loneliness for her. RAoA fixed all of that, now she gets to have crazy conversations with other great people on a daily basis. Her current job is raising her baby, June, which she describes as one of the hardest, but most rewarding jobs she’s ever had. When her daughter is all grown up she’d love to work with primates at a zoo. She loves playing video games and baking things for others. She loves Firefly which is where her username stems from. She has three tabby cats and family in Brazil. Keep an eye out for Kristin on the sub!

jphoenix (JJ) - The Girl With The Brilliant Memory RAoA is a place where JJ can go and feel safe. She can’t think of many other places that mix kindness with a community of really great people. She enjoys TV show marathons and playing video games. Her current video game obsession is Minecraft for xbox. She has a really good memory and can remember random information and often surprises others when she remembers something about them from a conversation they had years ago. She also finds it difficult at times to come up with answers to perfectly feasible questions. Superman has been her hero since she was four years old. Be sure to check around the sub for JJ!

cultural_infidel (Sean or Sven) - The Man With Two Names

RAoA has restored his faith in humanity. He truly believes this place is completely unique where people gather from all over the world with one unified goal of being awesome. He currently works in sales at a small family owned business, but he hopes to one day take over the business and get to a place where he can retire and become a teacher. He loves being outdoors and enjoys things like camping, snowshoeing, hiking and gardening. He’s really into old cars and vinyl which he’s been collecting since he was 15. He’s also a male contrary to popular believe on the sub. If he could go anywhere he’d love to go back to Ireland, although Scotland is also on his list. Keep an eye out for Sean or Sven and maybe figure out which is his real name when you see him.

keepfighting - Ami  What is your role on the press? I'm a graphic designer so I help design some of the pages, such as FredWampy's contests and Real Fun Facts, Featured Thanks, Ask the Snoos, Horoscopes, etc. For the last issue as well as this current one I have been designing the cover.  Why are you a part of the Press? What does RAoA Monthly mean to you? I've been part of RAOA for more than a year now but I'm super shy so I'm not openly active. This has been my way of contributing/being part of the sub because I'm more of a behind the scenes kind of person.  What is your favourite page? As far as design goes, I always enjoy doing FredWampy's contests and Real Fun Facts. As far as content, my favorite is the Horoscopes. Crimsonjella does such a fantastic job making them relate to the sub.  What do you do aside from reddit and helping out with the RAoA Monthly? I work as a graphic designer for a "large company", hang out with my corgi Nigel, crochet cute animals and obsess over lolita dresses and South Korean fashion. Really I spend a lot of time squeeing over cute things of any nature. I may also watch one too many kdramas. Oh, and Castle. So much Castle.  What other things do you want to tell everyone about yourself? I love sushi. I love outer space. And I really love Cleveland, Ohio. Yes, you heard that right.  What is your favourite vegetable? Butternut squash, although I'm not sure that's technically a vegetable. So I'll go with Yu Choy .

thisisnotmyfault - Kelly  What is your role on the press? I do a lot of the behind the scenes work such as organizing, page orders, helping with keeping everyone updated. I also create random pages, collect content for designers to layout, and help add to our never-ending ideas of new pages/content.  Why are you a part of the Press? What does RAoA Monthly mean to you? Starting from the beginning of this project seven months ago, I thought it would be cool to see RAoA turned into a magazine. I recruited a few people to help me lift it off the ground and since then we have evolved into an amazing team. I feel passionate about RAoA Monthly, it is one of my top hobbies I have. Everyone in my family knows I require designated times to work on it without being disturbed (I may bite their heads off if they bother me) and they also read each issue! RAoA Monthly means a lot to me and I highly enjoy being consumed by it for hours on end. I feel like I am giving back to the community by highlighting the awesomeness behind it.  What is your favourite page? My favorite pages are the pets, FredWampy's crazy contests (that man is truly talented), highlights of Thanks posts, discussions, and honestly I just love everything.  What do you do aside from reddit and helping out with the RAoA Monthly? I am a mother of a beautiful six (seven in two weeks) year old named Fionna. I recently withdrew from college for great reasons (was majoring in software dev.) I started the magazine while going to school part time, working 48 hours a week in IT, and spending time with my family on my off days. When I am not working, being a mother, studying, or working on the magazine I indulge in Starcraft, piano, basketball, biking, swimming, RAoAnonymous, TeamAmazon, skype/TC/IRC/Plug.dj and keeping up as much as possible on RAoA.  What other things do you want to tell everyone about yourself? I am not the best designer (that is why I look for other people to help out in that category) but my passion drives me and I will be damned if I let any troll get me down.  What is your favourite vegetable? Green Beans.

re_mix- Riley What is your role on the press? I do things? I like to make pages basically. :) Why are you a part of the press? What does RAoA Monthly mean to you? I was on my high school newspaper team and I loved it. However I didn’t really like my high school…But I love RAoA so it makes this ten times better. I love being able to work as a team to bring something unique to the sub. :D What is your favorite page? I don’t necessarily have a FAVORITE page. I enjoy all of them. I see all the hard work everyone puts into each page so I can’t pick just one!! What do you do aside from reddit and helping out with RAoA Monthly? reddit is my life. o.o Kidding. I work a lot. A lot, a lot. And I’m a full time student getting my BS in Mathematics :) I don’t really do much else besides lounge around with my boyfriend and sometimes go to concerts. What other things do you want to tell everyone about yourself? Hi. I’m nice. And forgetful. Don’t hate me. <3 What is your favourite vegetable? UHHH… Carrots. nomnomnom

SickRose- Erin  What is your role on the press? Proofreader.  Why are you a part of the Press? What does RAoA Monthly mean to you? I initially joined RAoA Monthly to save the magazine from grammar mistakes! However, I’ve enjoyed providing creative input as well. I’m looking forward to making use of my lovely new camera to add content in future editions.  What is your favourite page? The pets. I love cuddly critters of all kinds.  What do you do aside from reddit and helping out with the RAoA Monthly? I cook, make chainmail jewelry, hang out in Snapchat, and soon I’ll be volunteering at a local cat shelter.  What other things do you want to tell everyone about yourself? I have a very wide and pretty unique range of interests. I’m always happy to share any knowledge or experience on everything from how to care for your new kitten to how to tie up your lover. Ask me anything!  What is your favourite vegetable? Tomatoes. Yes, they’re technically a fruit. What can I say? Being contrary is one of my many skills.

allergictoapples - Becca  What is your role on the press? My role is to help gather content and design pages. I have helped with user submitted photo pages, featured thanks, Amazon deals, and anywhere else I can be of help to the rest of the team.  Why are you a part of the press? What does RAoA Monthly mean to you? I am a part of the press because I wanted to contribute and give back to the RAoA community, as a thanks for everything it’s given to me.  What is your favorite page? I love the contests, even though I’ve never yet figured one out!  What do you do aside from reddit and helping out with RAoA Monthly? When I’m not redditing or working on the Monthly, I work full time at a media agency and I have a small side business selling my watercolour paintings. When I’m not painting or knitting, you can probably find a book in my hands as well.  What other things do you want to tell everyone about yourself? Yes, I really am allergic to apples.  What is your favourite vegetable? Asparagus. Hands down.

kittehmew - Lorissa What is your role on the press? Graphic Designer Why are you a part of the press? What does RAoA Monthly mean to you? Mostly because I wanted to help contribute to the sub in a meaningful way, as well as be part of something fun and cool that the members look forward to. What is your favorite page? Probably the thanks. Since they are one of the best parts of the sub. What do you do aside from reddit and helping out with RAoA Monthly? Minecraft. Sleep. Cook. Not much. I’m super lame. What other things do you want to tell everyone about yourself? Uh. Nope. I’m blank. What is your favourite vegetable? Broccoli. Mmm, delicious mini-trees.

I wrote the interviews for AutoModerator, SirNarwhal (R.I.P.), and the upvote button. I have currently taken on the role of Mr. Snoo. And Mrs. Snoo. Why are you a part of the press? What does RAoA Monthly mean to you? I’m a part because I was inquisitive about it early on. The founders decided to suck me into it, and they can’t get rid of me now. RAoA Monthly means a steady paycheck and a frivolous lifestyle . I like RAoA Monthly ok. What is your favorite page? I’m partial to the Table of Contents. I like organization. What do you do aside from reddit and helping out with RAoA Monthly? I tend to my family and I’m an engineer. What other things do you want to tell everyone about yourself? Nothing that wouldn’t get me in trouble. What is your favourite vegetable? Baby spinach.

What is your role on the press?

I keep Kelly in line tee hee. I try to come up with page ideas and I have specific pages I do each month. 

Why are you a part of the Press? What does RAoA Monthly mean to you?

I like to be a part of things that matter. I feel like RAoA Monthly creates a positive difference within the community. I like that it brings something different to the community and provides entertainment. I like being able to find new users to put in the pages and learn different facts and details about people I don’t talk to or see often. 

What is your favourite page?

I can’t pick a favorite. The amount of time and energy each person puts into the pages, especially those that don’t have any kind of experience with the tools used…it’s just so much to be proud of and makes it hard to put them in any kind of favorite category! 

What do you do aside from reddit and helping out with the RAoA Monthly?

Wait, there’s something out there besides reddit?! I’m a single Mother of one amazing little 2 year old. I’m also in college full time and I work full time. I try to spend a lot of time modding RAoA but lately I’ve been swamped with real life. I have specific times I get to see my best friend too because of our work schedules so I share my free time with her, house work and video games (because I’m a closet nerd). I’m also a TV showaholic. .

Sp3cia1K- Krys  What other things do you want to tell everyone about yourself? When you see the pages that look bland, uncreative and hideous--yup, those are mine. I’m super shitty at being creative and I have absolutely no experience designing anything. I couldn’t even draw a stick figure if my life depended on it. BUT I adore this mag and what it brings to the sub so I try really hard. I don’t have anything else to tell anyone >.>  What is your favourite vegetable? Tacos. Don’t even bother telling me it’s not a vegetable because I won’t hear it. Carrots are gross, I don’t know what Riley is thinking saying carrots.

crimsonjella - Jella  What is your role on the press? I gather a lot of content and come up with some ideas. I also put pages together whenever it’s needed.  Why are you a part of the press? What does RAoA Monthly mean to you? It’s really a lot of fun to see all the feedback and know that so many users look forward to it every month. A lot of the time, especially recently, I haven’t been able to be as active as I’d like to be and this is a great way for me to stay connected as well as bring everyone else together.  What is your favorite page? I’ve really liked some of the fictional interviews that have been featured; I think they’re really clever. I also have always liked 18 for 18 because I love seeing all the users and learning more about them. Also, any of the silly ads that have been part of it are amazing.  What do you do aside from reddit and helping out with RAoA Monthly? Well, I am a full time student working towards my associates right now in psychology. I plan on continuing on to becoming a psychologist. I find human behavior fascinating and you never really get bored because there’s always people and something new to try to understand. I also work at an after school program for kids with developmental disabilities.  What other things do you want to tell everyone about yourself? Erm, I’m a little boring but let’s see. I love doing basically anything creative. I love art and all types of crafts. I’m a pretty big movie/tv show addict and Netflix is like crack to me. I have some anxiety issues but I’ve really been trying to fix it and focus on becoming a better person and i feel better than I ever have before. And I just like making people happy, it makes me feel good.  What is your favourite vegetable? String beans or like soy beans if that counts, no question.
