SPAIN Spain is a country largely located on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe. Its mainland is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea, to the north and northeast by France, Andorra and the Bay of Biscay and to the west and northwest by Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean. There are more than 46 million people in our country and its area is 505,990 square kilometres. Our capital city is Madrid and official language is Spanish.




MONUMENTS Here, there is a list of world heritage sites in Spain. But we want to show you some of them.


Alhambra of Granada It was originally constructed as a small fortress in 889 and then largely ignored until its ruins were renovated and rebuilt in the mid-13th century by the Moorish emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar of the Emirate of Granada, who built its current palace and walls. .


Aqueduct of Segovia

The Aqueduct of Segovia is a Roman aqueduct and one of the most significant and best-preserved ancient monuments left on the Iberian Peninsula. It is located in Spain and is the foremost symbol of Segovia, as evidenced by its presence on the city's coat of arms.


Castle of La Mota The Mota Castle in Medina del Campo (Valladolid, Spain). The word “Mota� refers to an artificial mountain built to defend the castle better, this mound was called in early English: motte. The Mota fortress had a military function and it also was a royal dungeon. The castle was built between the 12th and 15th Centuries.


Roman theatre (Mérida)

The Roman Theatre of Mérida is a construction promoted by the consul Vipsanius Agrippa in the Roman city of Emerita Augusta.capital of Lusitania (current Mérida, Spain). It was constructed in the years 16 to 15 BCE .

Jamón Ibérico Jamón ibérico "Iberian ham", also called ; "black hoof", and in portuguese "presunto ibérico") is a type of cured ham produced in Spain and Portugal. According to Spain's rules on food products, jamón ibérico may be made from black iberian pigs.


PAELLA

Paella is a Valencian rice dish with ancient roots that originated in its modern form in the mid-19th century near the Albufera lagoon, a coastal lagoon in Valencia.


Migas

Migas is a traditional dish in Spanish cuisine. Originally a breakfast dish that made use of leftover bread. In Extremadura, this dish includes day-old bread soaked in water, garlic, paprika, and olive oil.


Tortilla de patatas

The Tortilla Espa単ola, Spanish Omelette, is a typical Spanish dish consisting of an egg omelette made with added potatoes and fried in vegetable oil.


FESTIVALS Here, there is a list of some festivals. For example:


SAN FERMINES The festival of San Fermín in the city of Pamplona (Navarra, Spain) is a deeply rooted celebration held annually from 12:00, 6 July, when the opening of the party is marked by setting off the pyrotechnic chupinazo, to midnight 14 July, with the singing of the Pobre de Mí. While its most famous event is the encierro, or the running of the bulls, which happens at 8:00 am from 7 July to 14 July, the week-long celebration involves many other traditional and folkloric events.

Pilgrimage in my village

A “romería” in Spain is a religious pilgrimage or procession. In this photo, you can see the Romería de San Isidro in honor of Saint Isidro that takes place on May 15th.


Spanish Carnival

Carnival is a festive season that occurs before the Christian season of Easter. The main events typically occur during February or early March.
