HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN REAL ESTATE?

Being the son of Ken Joyner, President of Wedgewood Properties, Inc. (a local custom home building firm), I’ve been around homes & land development my whole life. I graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance & Real Estate from James Madison University. Real estate was a perfect fit for me as a people person.

FAVORITE VACATION SPOT:

As a kid, I enjoyed Roamer’s Cottages in Nags Head, NC. In my twenties, Cancun was my favorite destination. In my thirties it was Scottsdale, AZ and Las Vegas, NV. However; after taking my 3 children, Sam, Olivia, and Hannah to Assateague Island, that is now my number one destination.

HOBBIES & ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE THE OFFICE:

POST LICENSURE EDUCATION DECEMBER 31ST DEADLINE TO COMPLETE POST LICENSURE EDUCATION Substantial changes to the education requirements for new salesperson licensees went into effect July 1, 2013. These changes have special significance for new salespersons who obtained their real estate licenses between January 1 and June 30th of this year. These licensees must complete their 30 hour education requirements by December 31, 2013 – regardless of their actual one year license anniversary date. If the 30 hour PLE education requirements have not been completed by December 31, 2013, the hours taken will expire, and the licensee must then complete all 30 hours under the new Single Post Licensure Education (SPLE) track by their one year license anniversary date. The RAR Education Passport Program can help you complete your remaining required PLE hours. PLE Passport allows you to select a customized set of PLE classes covering the hours you need and register for those classes at a 30% discount. This RAR member benefit is available to all new salesperson licensees who need to complete their education hours before the end of the year.

FEATURE

2013 IN REVIEW

AND A LOOK AHEAD

As the year comes to a close, the staff and leadership at RAR reflect with pride and gratitude on what we’ve accomplished this year through the privilege of serving our members. Some of these achievements have produced tangible benefits; adding substantial value to RAR membership.

A group of members joined RAR’s Director of Government Affairs and Member Services, Elizabeth Greenfield for “REALTOR® Day on the Hill.”

Others have been more “behind the scenes”— but nonetheless pivotal in RAR’s mission to help ensure our members’ success. This particular year, much emphasis was placed on improvements in CVR MLS technology—helping to bolster members’ efficiency and market knowledge. RAR Education added new courses to ensure that members remain in tune with industry dynamics and regulatory amendments. Members with interest in government affairs, regional developments, and market research were provided with ample opportunities to increase their knowledge in these areas—as RAR brought in several community leaders and experts this year to speak to members about these topics. Here is a look back at some of the highlights of 2013:

CAPCENTER MORTGAGE CLOSINGS ARE ALWAYS A PIECE OF CAKE. The perfect closing – it’s what every realtor hopes for. No mistakes. No surprises. Just smooth sailing with every detail covered so everybody leaves the table happy. That’s how we do things at CapCenter. Great rates and zero closing costs are our recipe for success with borrowers.

But we add two other special ingredients that realtors really like, also—a streamlined easy loan process and attorney representation for our customers at closing, paid for by CapCenter. So our closings are a piece of cake. And for our realtor partners, that leaves a very sweet taste in their mouths.
