Corvallis High School senior Keelee Storrud in Norway.
Corvallis High School senior Keelee Storrud to study chemistry in Utah MICHELLE MCCONNAHA Ravalli Republic
Corvallis High School Senior Keelee Storrud has attended Corvallis schools since fourth grade. “I like really like Corvallis because I have never had a teacher who I had a problem with,” she said. “All the teachers work so hard to make sure that we’re having fun while learning. I’ve always felt welcome and had good friends. It’s been nice.” Storrud said her favorite class
was chemistry. “But I think my most rewarding class was physics because that was so hard for me,” she said. “I had help from my teacher and Mrs. Knapp helped me stay in it because I didn’t want to.” In addition to participating in the Interact club, Storrud is the vice president of National Honor Society. She was the girls team captain for the last two years for golf and played basketball for three years. After high school she will
major in chemistry at Utah State University. Her goal is to be a chemist and has worked at Rocky Mountain Lab in Hamilton. “I really enjoyed the lab environment and was thinking about doing analytical chemistry,” Storrud said. “I really liked working at RML.” She said the end of the school year was disappointing. “I was telling my mom, ‘2020 wasn’t cool enough, I guess,’” Storrud said. Principal Cammie Knapp
said Storrud has a “caring and compassionate nature towards all individuals with whom she interacts.” “She is kind to all of her classmates and does not hesitate to extend a hello to whomever,” Knapp said. “She works quietly behind the scenes and does not expect any accolades or recognition. Keelee is content to work quietly behind the scenes to get a job completed.”

Florence top seniors Clint James Banister
Valedictorian Clint James Banister, the son of James and BettyJo Banister, has attended Florence Carlton School from Kindergarten through High School. When he wasn’t busy with school work, he learned how the world around him operated. Mechanical devices, engines, tools and welding were subjects of interest. He tore down engines and studied how they worked. While his dad taught him to build small engines, he once supercharged a lawnmower to the point it was thought the mower would self-destruct. Gradually he started to work on more sophisticated equipment such as cars and trucks. Good memories were made of days spent in the garage. 4H kept him busy since middle school, raising and showing livestock, building engines, attending fairs and sharing his livestock knowledge with others. He won market class in sheep, then showmanship at several fairs with his sheep, dairy cows, and goats. In 2019 he started his own lawn mowing business, buying a trailer and upgrading equipment as the year progressed. He employs several people, keeps his equipment maintained and works long days keeping it all running. Running his own business has taught him to manage employees, schedule appointments, meet payroll, and balance books. While it took some risk, the reward has been great as his business is his primary scholarship; which will fund college. Clint plans to attend Montana Tech this fall and major in engineering.
Jacee McNair
Co-Salutatorian Jacee McNair, daughter of Junior and Jennie McNair. Jacee is proud to have been named one of the Class of 2020’s Salutatorians. She has attended FlorenceCarlton High School since kindergarten. During her 4 years of high school she has maintained a 3.9 GPA. Jacee has been involved in Yearbook for 3 years and a Varsity Cheerleader for 4 years. She has also received Academic Allstate for Cheerleading all 4 years. After high school she plans on taking a 9 week course at the Bitterroot School of Cosmetology to become a certified nail technician and then attend the University of Montana Western for business.
Grace Edgar Co-Salutatorian Grace Edgar, the daughter of Timothy Edgar. She is one of the salutatorians of the 2020 graduating class. She has attended Florence since kindergarten. Throughout high school she has participated in Student Council for one year, National Honors Society for two years, and Drama for three years. She was also class president for her junior and senior year. She has taken AP Biology and AP Literature and Composition as well as Dual Credit math her senior year. Grace also took two years of honors English while she was an underclassman. She spent many hours volunteering with Mrs. Bierle to help tutor elementary students. After high school, Grace plans on attending Montana State University to obtain a nursing degree. She eventually wants to go back to school to become a nurse practitioner. She would like to thank her family, friends, and teachers for support and guidance throughout high school. She is excited to begin the next chapter of her life!

Emma Lilienthal headed to Wellesley College MICHELLE MCCONNAHA Ravalli Republic
Hamilton High School Senior Emma Lilienthal attended Hamilton schools for seven years, starting in sixth grade. She said has enjoyed every class. “English is my favorite subject but I have loved a lot of the classes that were taught, I can’t say I had a favorite,” Lilienthal said. She’s been active in high school including the Guys and Dolls choir, Key Club, Student Council and National Honor Society. She played soccer for all four years. “I had a lot of fun in all of them really,” Lilienthal said. “Even though the year didn’t end the way we wanted I think we have an awesome graduation coming up.” After high school Lilienthal plans to attend Wellesley College in Massachusetts, near Boston.
“I’m thinking of double majoring in English and either History or Political Science,” she said. “I want to be a college professor so I’ll need a PhD. I know want to do something in those fields. Since I was little my passion has been writing, reading and history.” Lilienthal said that she values the educators at Hamilton High School. “The staff is really encouraging and I felt at home there,” she said. “It was a great place to learn.” Principal Ryan Wells said Lilienthan is a “phenomenal student with quite the accomplished academic resume and a leader amongst her peers.” “She is a thoughtful young woman, who works incredibly hard,” Wells said. “She leads by example and is passionate in her efforts to help others learn with her. She truly embodies the culture of excellence we are so proud of at Hamilton High School.”

Stevi senior Evynne Alexander MICHELLE MCCONNAHA Ravalli Republic
There is a lot to Stevensville High School senior Evynne Alexander as she has been actively and wholeheartedly involved in Stevensville schools for eight years. She attended from Kindergarten through third grade, then returned for 9-12, all of high school. She’s been a member of National Honor Society for three years, played soccer and lettered for four years. She was team captain for her senior year, and was All State second team and All Conference first team. She played basketball for all for years, recovered from a knee injury during her sophomore year to make All Conference second team and team captain. Outside of school she has gone on mission trips and used to rodeo. Alexander said she enjoys Stevensville High School. “I think I like it most because everyone knows everyone, our class is really close,” she said. “Every class you go to in the high school you have friends. We have good relationships with our teachers and with each other, so that’s probably the best part of Stevensville.”
Alexander said she most enjoyed her sports classes. After graduation she plans to attend Montana State University in Bozeman. “I’m undecided if I want to be a nurse practitioner or go the premed route because I want to be a pediatric doctor, then I’m minoring in Spanish,” Alexander said. “I love working with kids, they are so cute. I’ve done soccer camps with them and worked basketball camps with them. They are adorable.” Alexander has two younger brothers and an exchange student from Spain. Principal Brian Gum said. “Evynne is a remarkable young lady that during her four years here, displayed leadership from so many different levels.” “First, she has been involved with athletics as a standout soccer and basketball player, all the while maintaining an excellent GPA,” Gum said. “Evynne is also a gifted student when it comes to academics and has been a part of the National Honor Society. To top things off, Evynne was also selected this year, as our Prom Queen and is always there to help out any students in need, with their studies, within the building.”

He praised Alexander for her accomplishments and determination. “I believe she will make a huge impact in this world,” he said. “Evynne will do so because she is kind, thoughtful, and very humble. I could not find a better representative for Stevensville High School then Evynne.”

Gracie Smith looking forward to working with kids in the future MICHELLE McCONNAHA Ravalli Republic
Victor High School Class President Gracie Smith is on fire for the future. She has attended Victor from kindergarten through her senior year and said that going to a small school has impacted her life in a positive way. “Everyone knows everyone, what they are doing and I think it helps people responsible and accountable for their actions,” Smith said. “You can’t just switch friend groups, if you do you need to take responsibility.” Smith said her favorite classes in middle school and high school are her agriculture classes taught by Cassie Tintzman. “She is phenomenal,” Smith said. “She has been such an amazing mentor and roll mode for me. She goes above and beyond for ag students to make sure everyone feels included and welcomed to her classroom. That’s definitely my favorite room in the school.” Smith praised the small educational environment for providing intense instruction.
“You get a lot more one-on-one work with teachers because we are a small group of kids,” Smith said. “We get to work with the elementary students. If you want to get to the elementary building you just walk one over.” Smith said working with the second grade class where she is a teaching assistant has been a highlight of her education. “Every day I get to go in, hang out with these awesome kids and build relationships with them,” Smith said. “It has been a great experience.” Smith has considered teaching as a career. “But my heart lies with the career that I’ve chosen,” she said. “I want to be a Child Life specialist which is a position in a pediatric hospital where you work with kids explaining procedures, keeping them calm, entertained. Ever since I learned about that career I’ve fallen in love with it, it is my calling.” Smith said she plans to attend Montana State University this fall and explained that she will be part of a four year program. “[Child Life specialist] isn’t a major offered there, it is a relatively new thing, you really only

find it in larger pediatric hospitals,” Smith said. “I have to take the classes that align with what they want for Child Life, do a practicum, sit for my boards and get my certification.”
