Urban Planning 41

Prediction of Urban Growth of Al-Husn Town 42

Introduction This project is part of Urban Planning studio 2, It aims to understand the urban fabric of a town, to analyze the urban situation & spot light over the main problems that the urban region face. Study the urban spatial structure & the population growth, then predict the future growth & where this growth is turned to.

Projection studies of 2033 After analyzing the current situation of Master plan, fill infill and Demographic studies, I calculated the population growth using the Formula:

Pt = P0 ( 1 + r) Pt : Population of target year. P0 : Population of base year. r : growth year. n : number of years (Pt-P0) Growth rate is 2.2 approved by the counting department ,population growth from 2013 till 2033 will be : P0(2013)= 24698 r= 2.2 n= 20 Pt(2033)= 38168

Prediction of Al-Husn Urban Growth

48

Urban Growth Studies

Urban Expansion of 2033 the future expectations about the urban expansion is a subjective issue depends on many factors, one of the best ways to predict it is using:

GAM : Goals Achieving Matrix “4 Factors VETO Pixels

Services

Prediction of Al-Husn Urban Growth

Density

Congestions

49

Urban Expansion “GAM Results” • • • •

• • •

grid (200 *200 for each pixel) . name each pixel by a letter & a number . vote (veto) for the pixels with almost 100% fill area. select 4 factors that it would have the strongest impact on population expansion. Give each factor weight. Then score the pixels within the factor maps. Calculate the final scores by multiply scores by weights. Veto fill areas 75 – 100 already have high fill 50 – 75 Most likely to expand 25 – 50 expansion expected to be less 00 – 25 expansion is not expected

Urban Revival of Al- Sareeh Town 52

Introduction This project is part of Urban Planning studio 3, It aims to understand the urban fabric of a town, to analyze the urban situation & spot light over the main problems that the urban region face. Propose a concept for a revival of the town after the analysis work. After making SWOT Analysis to the existing Master Plan: 1- No clear road hierarchy . 2- open spaces concentered in new developments ,while old town suffer from the lack of greenery / open spaces . 3- Main commercial spine , depriving new developments from needed services .

1. Improving Road Network 2. Neighborhood centers 3. Population Intensification 4.

Revival of Al- Sareeh Town

53

1. Improving Road Network

The main concept is Reviving Al-Sareeh Town by developing road network & public transportation facilities : -Suggest new road network layout -Establishing bus station connecting Al-Sareeh with nearby towns. -Suggest micro buses service

Revival of Al- Sareeh Town

54

2. Neighborhood centers

By suggesting new road network layout, clear edges appears distinguishing main 5 areas, which we’re going to develop it as neighborhods : -Create neighborhood centers -Improve neighborhood services

Revival of Al- Sareeh Town

55

3. Population Intensification

Existing Housing Category

Proposed Housing Category

-By prohibiting expansion outer the boundaries of the planned area. -Down zoning some parts of the town to maximize population densities.

Revival of Al- Sareeh Town

56

4. Strengthen Al-Sareeh Economy By Improving agriculture, manufacture & investments through : by Improving agriculture, manufacture & investments through : -Encourage agricultural facilities for farmers -Prohibit urban expansion over agricultural lands by law & buffering the area .

-Encourage investments in agricultural sector . -Open a central agricultural market, for marketing products.

-Establish a factory for food production. -Open a center for agricultural awareness. -Wider the stream & use it in collecting water for irrigation uses -Openinig ‘central agricultural market’ for marketing agricultural products.

Conceptual Layout Revival of Al- Sareeh Town

5. New Neighborhood suggestion After studying the population projection & where the urban growth is turned to, 3 possible locations for neighborhood were suggested:

After studying the 3 alternatives, scenario 2 was the most favorable one, most suitable shape, area, available infrastructure

JUST Faculty Club 62

Introduction The project was part of architectural Design studio 2, we were asked to design a club for faculty members of JUST to be used by for them for meetings & as a cultural, sport Club to their families. The concept came from JUST The masses lines are taken from the location of JUST as it’s lighthouse that guides the other buildings.

Introduction The project was part of architectural Design studio 2, we were asked to design a fast food restaurant that follow to a brand, that’s when I picked KFC.

The project won a competition held in JUST as one of the best 7 projects across architectural design 2 studio students. The concept came from a bridge suppose to link students of JUST with the restaurant. The bridge orient the mass in some degree & entered into it . The masses was so simple, the main concept was in the oriented mass, the circulation of vehicles & the drive through.
