FROM THE DIRECTOR After a year and a half of work, City Council unanimously approved the 2021 Parks and Recreation Master Plan in May. Our Glendale community deserves credit for engaging in planning and embracing its future. We are confident that this 10-year plan ensures play in our parks and recreation system is consistent across the City and available to everyone living here. Simultaneously, this plan sets out to protect important environmental resources, address park conditions, and honor the historic legacy valued by our community. As the City continues to grow, our commitment to improving the lives of those we serve everyday with an appealing and accessible parks and recreation system is unwavering. The communityinspired vision is to ensure all residents can participate in recreation programs, and that opportunities to

access our many parks and indoor facilities are available to all community members. We hope you find yourself inspired to visit one of Glendale’s 91 parks, log your steps on our 46 miles of trails, or sign you and your family members up for a Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center membership or a fun recreation program. Whatever you do, enjoy playing! Respectfully,

James P. Burke,

Some music teachers may not want you to know this, but you don’t need years of weekly lessons to learn piano. In just a few hours, you can learn enough secrets of the trade to give you years of musical enjoyment. How do we do it? While regular piano instructors teach note reading, piano professionals use chords. You will learn all the chords you need to play any song in this one session, any song, any style and in any key. If you can find middle C and know the meaning of Every Good Boy Does Fine, you already know enough to enroll. Topics include how to get more out of sheet music by reading less of it, how to form the three main types of chords, how to handle different keys and time signatures and how to avoid counting.
