AZ EXTREME ADVENTURES BECKON
THRILL SEEKERS
by Blake HerzogOur state’s luxury travel scene is most famous for resorts with indulgent spas and services, spectacular golf courses and delectable restaurants. Being pampered is clearly a highlight of any vacation, but many of us also like to challenge ourselves in ways we don’t get the chance to in our workaday lives.
You don’t have to give up either by staying in-state — Arizona’s varied topography and climate offers an endless supply of obstacles to conquer.
FLAGSTAFF EXTREME ADVENTURE COURSE
This playground in the treetops of Ft. Tuthill County Park just south of Flagstaff has tethered adventure courses where guests scramble across bridges and up ropes, as well as zip lines that have people whizzing up to 80 feet above the ground.
It can be a great family trip (kids 7 to 11 have a separate adventure course, and height restrictions apply to all activities). Open year-round, this is the largest adventure course in the state and largest zip line course in the western U.S. www.flagstaffextreme.com

It’s by far the most exclusive section of the park, with only three permits issued every week beginning on Wednesday. Crazily-piled rocks and boulders can be seen in other parts of the state but none are as remote or as breathtaking as what you’ll find here. www.nps.gov/pefo/index.htm
SKYDIVE THE GRAND CANYON
What can go wrong with doing the most extreme of activities in the most extreme landscape in Arizona? Not much, actually, since you’ll be tandem diving with an experienced instructor who will give you as much control as you need but will bring you safely down to earth. VACATIONING IN ARIZONA THIS SUMMER?
Don’t Forget Prescott
by Blake HerzogDay-trippers, vacationers, locals — wherever you live in Arizona — when you hit the road for short visits or longer vacations this summer consider Prescott, the state’s first territorial capital.
PRESCOTT’S OLD-TIME CHARM
Known as “Everybody’s Hometown” for its friendliness and century-old Victorianinfluenced neighborhoods that remind visitors of places they’ve lived in the Midwest or Northeast, Prescott sits in the Bradshaw and Granite mountains.
It’s probably most famous for the white-columned courthouse and treelined square that anchor its historic downtown and the superb recreational opportunities at nearby forests and lakes. Aside from these must-sees, there are more attractions you may not be aware of to enhance your experience as you escape the desert heat or just want a short hop down from Northern Arizona to experience a new place.
MUSEUMS
Founded in the 1850s, Prescott’s a favorite for history buffs with its landmarks and museums including Sharlot Hall Museum , two blocks away from Courthouse Plaza. It includes the log-cabin Governor’s Mansion from when the city served as the territorial capital, along with more buildings and thousands of local artifacts.
The Museum of Indigenous People sits on the outskirts of downtown and has an extensive collection of locally made pottery along with other artifacts from the Yavapai and other local tribes. The Phippen Museum’s Western-themed paintings, sculptures and other art pieces sit just north of the Granite Dells , Prescott’s most outstanding geological feature, and Watson and Willow lakes.
DINING AND SHOPPING
Prescott’s culinary scene has grown from Old West landmarks like the Palace Restaurant and Jersey Lilly Saloon to include more modern and eclectic fare from establishments like Farm Provisions , Atmesfir and El Gato Azul Art galleries like the Ian Russell Gallery of Fine Art , antique shops including the Cortez Street Emporium and boutiques including Purple Clover and Drawn West also dot the downtown with unbeatable variety and value.

TIPS ON TIPPING
AROUND THE WORLD
Many of us love to learn about the language and culture of far-flung places while we’re there but one thing it pays to know ahead of time is tipping etiquette. It’s a norm that varies across the globe, with some service providers expecting it while others may be offended by being offered one. Overall, though, the practice appears to be gaining acceptance worldwide.
Read on for a rough guide to tipping in some of the world’s most thrilling cities.
PARIS
In Paris, tipping is more relaxed compared to places like the United States. Many restaurants include a service charge (service compris) in the bill. However, leaving a small tip for good service is appreciated.
Rounding up the bill or leaving a few euros (around 5% to 10%) is common. For taxi drivers, rounding up to the nearest euro or leaving 5% to 10% is sufficient. Hotel staff typically expect €1 to €2 per bag for porters and €1 to €2 per day for housekeeping.
TOKYO
Tipping in Tokyo is not customary and can even be considered rude. Exceptional service is expected and included in the price.
In restaurants, bars, taxis and hotels, no tipping is necessary.
Instead, a simple thank you or a small gift as a token of appreciation is more culturally appropriate if you feel the need to express gratitude.
MEXICO CITY
In Mexico City, tipping practices are somewhat similar to those in the United States. In restaurants, it’s customary to tip 10% to 15% of the total bill. For bartenders, a tip of 10% is usual. Taxi drivers do not typically expect tips, but rounding up the fare is appreciated.
Hotel staff should receive about 10 to 20 pesos per bag for bellhops and around 20 pesos per night for housekeeping.
SYDNEY
In Sydney, tipping is not as ingrained as in the U.S., but it is becoming more common in the hospitality industry.
In restaurants, leaving a tip of 10% to 15% for good service is appreciated but not mandatory. For taxi drivers, rounding up the fare is generally acceptable. Hotel staff, including bellhops and housekeeping, do not usually expect tips, but a small gratuity for exceptional service is welcomed.
PICK A PET,
any Pet,
WTO REAP BOUNTIFUL BENEFITS
hatever species they are, pets can enhance your life by providing companionship, improving mental and physical health and teaching valuable life lessons.
COMPANIONSHIP AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
Pets are known for their unconditional love and loyalty, which can be incredibly comforting, especially for those who live alone.
Dogs and cats, in particular, form strong bonds with their owners, offering a sense of security and friendship.
Birds, rabbits and even fish and reptiles also can provide this emotional connection, often surprising their owners with their unique personalities and affectionate behaviors. They’re great alternatives for those who are allergic to more typical pets.
MENTAL HEALTH BENEFITS
Pets have a profound impact on mental health. Studies have shown that interacting with pets can reduce stress, anxiety and depression.
The act of petting a dog or cat releases endorphins, promoting a sense of calm and well-being. The routine of caring for a pet can provide a sense of purpose and structure, which is particularly beneficial for those struggling with mental health issues.
PHYSICAL HEALTH BENEFITS
Owning a pet, particularly an active one like a dog, can significantly improve your physical health. Regular walks, playtime and other activities help pet owners stay active, leading to improved cardiovascular health, weight management and overall fitness.
Even smaller pets require care that encourages movement and physical activity.
TEACHING RESPONSIBILITY
Caring for a pet requires responsibility and empathy. This is especially valuable for children, who learn the importance of regular feeding, grooming and health checkups. The daily routine of pet care instills a sense of duty and compassion, which are essential life skills. Even reptiles, which may seem lowmaintenance, require specific care routines that teach patience and attention to detail.
SOCIAL INTERACTION AND COMMUNITY
Pets can ease social interaction. Dog owners, for example, often find themselves striking up conversations with other dog owners during walks or at the park. Pet clubs and online forums for various types of pets provide platforms for owners to share experiences, advice and support.
THEY SUIT EVERY LIFESTYLE
One of the greatest aspects of pet ownership is the variety available, ensuring there is a suitable pet for every lifestyle. Dogs are great for active individuals or families looking for a playful and loyal companion. Cats offer affection and companionship with a bit more independence. Birds provide beauty and song, often requiring less space. Rabbits are gentle and can be great for small homes or apartments. Reptiles, such as snakes or turtles, are fascinating pets that require specific care but can be very rewarding for those interested in more exotic pets. Fish can be immensely entertaining yet soothing as they float by your life in a bubbling aquarium.
TTake Up Riding
USING A LITTLE HORSE SENSE
he dream of many a horse-crazy girl or boy is to buy and ride one of their own once they grow up. Not too many of us actually get to that point, and those who didn’t grow up around horses may not have much of an idea of how to go about pursuing their dream. You need access not only to a horse but also to lessons about riding and taking proper care of these magnificent, complex beings. If this applies to you, here are some of the steps you can take to fulfill that dream.
UNDERSTANDING THE BASICS
Horseback riding involves more than just sitting on a horse; it requires balance, coordination and communication with the animal. Familiarize yourself with basic horse anatomy, riding terminology and the different styles of riding, such as English and Western.
ESSENTIAL GEAR
Investing in the right gear is crucial for your safety and comfort. The basics include a well-fitted riding helmet and a pair of riding boots with a small heel to prevent your foot from slipping through the stirrup. Comfortable riding pants, such as jodhpurs or breeches, and gloves to improve grip also are recommended.
FINDING A RIDING SCHOOL
Find a reputable riding school or equestrian center with certified instructors, well-maintained facilities and positive reviews. Visiting can help you assess their safety standards and the condition of their horses. A good instructor will guide you through the basics, ensure your safety and help you build confidence. Begin with private or group lessons. During these lessons, you’ll learn how to mount and dismount, proper posture, how to communicate with your horse using reins and leg cues and basic riding techniques at different gaits.
MAKING THE COMMITMENT
Buying a horse is a significant and expensive decision that requires careful consideration and preparation. Owning a horse requires more than basic riding skills; you should be comfortable with handling and caring for horses. It’s advisable to have several years of consistent riding and horse care experience. Ensure you have a stable income to support ongoing costs such as feed, veterinary care, boarding and equipment. Owning a horse is a daily responsibility and a longterm commitment.
YIELD
NOISY PROFITS ‘QUIET LUXURY’ INVESTMENTS
by Blake HerzogDuring these inflationary times, luxury stocks are a more alluring investment opportunity than ever.
Long seen as a good hedge against inflation with their high margins and affluent, dedicated fan base, high-end corporations selling everything from cars to watches to apparel have attracted investors from across the spectrum.
The rise and staying power of “quiet luxury’s” understated elegance, premium quality and timeless design in fashion and interior design is shifting the fortunes of publicly traded corporations that produce goods that fall in line with the trend. In some cases they’re outperforming their “loud luxury” counterparts in the stock market as well as the retail market.
How Wey Fook of DBS Bank in Singapore released a report at the beginning of this year touting the success of Hermès, LVMH and lesser-known but extremely high-end watchmakers Breguet, Blancpain and Jaeger-LeCoultre as investments, with his index of quiet luxury brands outperforming the overall luxury sector by 23% in 2023.
Given the popularity of low-key extravagances, “This bifurcation of performance is expected to stay,” Fook says.
According to the report, the most competitive firms in the quiet luxury landscape are those with “moatlike qualities” that protect them from turbulence in the economy: Enduring brand heritage, allure of exclusivity, exceptional craftsmanship, deep-seated customer loyalty and continuous innovation.
INVESTMENT POTENTIAL
Investing in quiet luxury fashion brands presents an opportunity for investors looking to diversify their portfolios with high-growth potential stocks.
The limited production runs and high price points contribute to their exclusivity and brand value, fostering a high level of consumer loyalty.
A demographic shift plays a crucial role in the rise of quiet luxury brands. Millennials and Generation Z, now major consumer groups, prioritize experiences and values over brand names. They seek products that reflect their personal style and values rather than those that merely display a logo. Quiet luxury brands offer the sophistication and exclusivity that resonate with these younger, affluent consumers. Additionally, many quiet luxury brands are privately owned or part of larger luxury conglomerates like LVMH or Kering. Investing in these conglomerates provides exposure to the quiet luxury segment while mitigating risks through diversification across multiple luxury brands.
KEY CONSIDERATIONS FOR INVESTORS
When considering investment in quiet luxury fashion brands, it’s essential to evaluate the brand’s market positioning, financial health and growth strategy. Look for brands with a strong online presence, as e-commerce continues to be a critical growth driver.
Assess the brand’s commitment to sustainability, as this is increasingly important to consumers and can drive long-term value.
Consider the competitive landscape and the brand’s ability to innovate and adapt to changing consumer preferences. Brands that can balance tradition with modernity are likely to thrive in the evolving luxury market.
Take a Bow,
AND ANOTHER, AND ANOTHER…
If you haven’t checked out the fashion pages or the styles on the streets you may not know that the simple bow, in all its iterations as an accessory or adornment, is tying together many an outfit these days. This sweet infusion of femininity softens any outfit, making everyone’s day a little bit calmer and brighter.
Big or small, bows are a charming touch to any ensemble. Whether you’re aiming for a classic look or something more modern and glam, putting a bow on it shows you haven’t left girlhood behind so much as built yourself around it.
HAIR ACCESSORIES
A bow-adorned headband, hair clip or hair tie can instantly transform your look. For a casual day out, a small bow on a ponytail or bun adds a cute and playful element. For more formal occasions, consider a sleek bow headband or a low bun with a
CLOTHING ACCENTS
Whether it’s a large bow at the waist, a small bow at the neckline or bow-tied sleeves, many blouses include bow-focused detailing. For a chic and polished look, choose a blouse with a bow-tie collar and pair it with highwaisted trousers or a pencil skirt. If you prefer a more casual vibe, a simple dress with a waist bow can add a feminine touch without being too over the top.
FOOTWEAR AND BAGS
For a bolder statement, opt for heels with larger bow
adding a touch of elegance.
JEWELRY
For a subtle approach, choose small bow studs or a dainty bow necklace. If you want to make a statement, go for larger pieces like a bow choker or bold bow earrings.
GO BOW OR GO HOME
Bows in unexpected places — slacks sporting a large bow at each hem, a bra top dominated by a huge bow for modesty and drama or gloves with oversized bows at the wrists — add a sweet edge to your look.
Just like your business conveys a modern and professional image, so should your marketing materials.

PROPERTIES Luxury
Most investors understand the importance of branching out and diversifying their investments and properties. And if you’re thinking of investing in one or more luxury properties to rent or flip, there are pros and cons to consider.
You’ll need luxury real estate in prime locations. Most are large, expensive and high-quality. Also, many luxury properties sit at the top 10% of properties on the market. That means, depending on where you’re buying you could be looking at a few million dollars to multimillion dollars. And high-end properties are not just large single-family mansions. Look at multifamily homes, penthouses, condos and new builds. Ultimately, there are several ways to be successful while investing in luxury real estate. Let’s look at a few pros and cons.
PROS
Higher returns. When you put more into your investment, you get more out of it. So, when you buy a high-end home, high-end tenants will pay more to live there.
Lower maintenance costs. Luxury properties are usually maintained better than typical single-family homes. Additionally, since they’re
maintained better, they probably have a longer life span. You or your tenants won’t need spare cash for constant repair and maintenance on appliances like a washing machine or furniture. Market stability. Since so many luxury homes use high-quality materials, they won’t depreciate as quickly. As a result, they’re generally more stable over time than typical rental properties. Unlike stocks and bonds where an investment can increase or decrease rapidly, luxury real estate gives investors some form of control. Prices may rise and fall, but not in one quick swing. Easier to rent. Luxury apartments or properties also come with a range of high-end services and amenities, making them desirable to families or individuals searching for a highend rental property. The benefits are two-fold: a better rental yield and more stable tenants. Higher amenities. A luxury
home typically has numerous amenities including game rooms, gyms, terraces, swimming pools and gardens. They also are usually in prime neighborhoods offering security, accessible shopping, entertainment and more. These make life easier for residents.
CONS
Higher upfront costs. Luxury properties are more expensive than buying other residential rental properties. So, having the cash is essential.
Unique requirements. Investing in luxury real estate requires a lot of knowledge, consideration and due diligence. Do your research. Longer buying process. Luxury real estate commonly takes longer than a typical single-family home. After all, the market is smaller and there are fewer properties. Luxury homes are an excellent investment, especially if you’re looking ahead. Investing would be a wise decision now more than ever.
PACK SMART FOR YOUR
ARIZONA VACAY
by Michelle Beck, Owner, Purple Clover BoutiqueHow do you vacation in style in Arizona? No matter what area of our incredibly diverse state you will be traveling to, some basic principles still apply. It’s important to pack clothing to keep you cool and protect you from the sun. Arizona has numerous sunny days whether you are at the Grand Canyon or visiting the Phoenix or Tucson area.
1. Wear lightweight, breathable clothing. Invest in linen or cotton shirts and pants. A lightweight linen blouse in a neutral color never goes out of style. A linen blouse also can be worn open as a shirt/jacket over a tank top or camisole.
2. A sun hat or a cap is a must! Hats come in a huge variety of styles and colors. A packable straw hat always works and can be worn on many different excursions. Depending on your personal style, a casual bucket hat or a more sophisticated wide-brim hat will work. Even a baseball cap can protect you from the sun.
3. Plan for cool evenings and air-conditioned buildings. A light jacket or a sweater is a must for a trip to State 48! Restaurants and shopping malls are known for keeping temperatures on the chilly side.
If you are traveling to some of our higher elevations, the temperature can drop 20 or more degrees from daytime to evening. This is why layering is so important.
4. If you are hiking, choose moisture-wicking materials. Remember, it’s a dry heat in Arizona! Because of the arid climate, you may not be aware of how much you are perspiring even while doing a casual stroll through some beautiful desert botanical gardens. There are many brands of moisture-wicking clothes available, and some even have a built in SPF in them.
Arizona is a beautiful state to visit any time of year. With some planning and forethought, your vacation is sure to be a success. Visit your favorite department store or boutique for great fashion advice.

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS:
E-books vs Printed
FBOOKS
or some, the feel of a book in their hands and turning the page adds to the enjoyment of reading. For others, the convenience of a small e-book reader like a Kindle overrides the need for a physical book. If you’re on the fence, here are a few pros and cons to think about.
E-READER PROS:
• They can hold your entire library in one small device.
• It is lighter than a hardcover book and about equal to a paperback.
• A backlit e-reader makes it easy to read in bed and not disturb anyone.
• Book prices tend to be equal to new printed books but can be much less for older titles.
• You can change the font size and color of the type and background.
• They come with a built-in dictionary and digital highlighter.
• Studies show teenagers are more likely to read with an e-reader.
• Research shows readers with dyslexia comprehend better with one.
E-READER CONS:
• You can’t lend, sell or donate an e-book.
• Reading at night can cause eyestrain and disrupt sleep patterns.
• They take more carbon to produce and can’t be recycled.
PRINTED BOOK PROS:
• Printed books don’t need to be recharged.
• Several studies suggest reading on paper is better for memory retention and focus.
• Reading a printed book is a tactile experience. You feel it, smell it and remember it.
• You can lend, donate or resell your books.
• It’s much more fun to read a physical book with a child, turning the pages and looking at the pictures.
PRINTED BOOK CONS:
• They take up more space than an e-reader.
• They are not as portable as an e-reader.
• They use more natural resources for printing.
• They take up more space, needing a bookcase rather than a table.

SKYDIVING + TRAVEL OFFER AWESOME
Adventure
Skydiving is easily one of the most exhilarating experiences you’ll ever have. While free falling for about 30-seconds, you’ll feel as if you’re flying. Then your parachute opens and you glide gently back to earth.
While some people play pickleball and others hike, a special group dedicate their time to skydiving. Getting your A license is the first step on your journey. Once you’ve completed a tandem, the process to get your A license starts with a six-hour class, called the first jump course.
Next, you’ll complete two phases of Accelerated Freefall (AFF) training jumps at about $130 to $330 each. Assuming you pass every jump on the first try, you’ll complete 19 instructor-led jumps and six solos before earning your license. All together you’re A license certification will cost you about $3,000 and $4,000.
Once you’ve completed your training, you’ll want your own color-coordinated, high-tech jumping gear. You’ll need a complete rig, helmet, altimeter and jumpsuit. The cost varies from a few thousand to more than $7,000.
There are four license levels and numerous skydiving disciplines in the U.S. As you progress, you’ll need more gear like
wingsuits, helmet cameras and different types of parachutes.
And once you’re a pro, it’s time to find an awesome place to jump.
Great Pyramids of Giza, Egypt —
A few licensed operators plan annual or semi-annual events, like Jump Like a Pharaoh, a skydive over the Great Pyramids of Giza along with a Hercules C-130 military aircraft. Programs range from tandem skydives for beginners to solo dives.
Fox Glacier, New Zealand — Most skydivers have a jump in New Zealand on their list. Queenstown is a good place to start with dozens
of companies offering jumps for all levels. The best of the region’s many skydiving sites is Fox Glacier. The nearby Tasman Sea is in full view making it a dramatic landscape to enjoy from above. Jump heights extend up to 16,000 feet, offering about a full minute’s free fall. Victoria Falls, Zambia and Zimbabwe — Victoria Falls is astonishing. You could take a helicopter ride to see it, but a more exhilarating option is to skydive. Operators offer jumps from 10,000 feet, with the glide taking place directly over the falls.
It’s All About the
BUBBLES
If the sound of a cork popping on a bottle of bubbles sounds like a celebration, then you probably have a few bottles at home ready to get the party started. But what kind to buy and how to store them are important for getting the optimal experience.
CHAMPAGNE VS. PROSECCO
Champagne comes from the Champagne region of France, about 150km northeast of Paris. Prosecco comes from the northwestern Italian regions of Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Champagne can be a blend or single varietal wine. The most planted grape varieties are pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier, and a few more. Prosecco is made principally from the glera grape variety, which must make up at least 85%.
Another key difference is the way they are made. In both, the base wine undergoes a second fermentation, creating the CO2 that creates its sparkle. In Champagne, the méthode Champenoise or “traditional method” bottles the base wine with yeast and sugars that cause the second fermentation in the bottle. For a nonvintage Champagne the minimum time for fermentation is 12 months; vintage Champagne spends three years on its sediment.
With prosecco, the tank method is normally used for the second fermentation so instead of bottling, the base wine goes in a pressure tank with sugar and yeast. CO2 is created and the wine is filtered to remove sediment before bottling.
STORING YOUR BUBBLES
If you’re storing at home, there are certain things you need to do to get the most out of your bubbles:
1. Keep your bottles away from bright light.
2. Store in a cool place where the temperature is constant. The actual temperature (ideally 7°C to 10°C) is less important than consistency.
3. Consider magnums for long-term aging. Standard bottles (75cl) age well if properly stored. Magnums (1.5 liters) are best for long-term because the ratio of wine to surface area allows for a slower, more even maturation and a finer lasting flow of bubbles.
4. Store your bubbles short term, up to one month, standing. Any longer and you risk drying out the cork.
5. If you’re looking to store vintage cuvées long term, they should be stored on their sides in a cellar or wine rack.

TryTHAI MASSAGE
ON YOUR PATH TO WELLNESS
In today’s fast-paced world, stress and physical discomfort have become commonplace. Many are seeking effective and holistic ways to rejuvenate both mind and body. Enter Thai massage, an ancient healing practice that promises more than just relaxation. Thai massage offers a compelling blend of benefits that make it a must-try experience for anyone looking to increase their well-being and self-confidence.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A SESSION
A typical Thai massage session can last anywhere from 60 to 120 minutes. Unlike Western massages, it’s performed on a mat on the floor rather than a table, and both the practitioner and the client remain fully clothed. The therapist uses their hands, elbows, knees and feet to apply pressure and guide the client through various stretches. At some points they may even kneel on your legs or back for extra resistance. This can be both invigorating and deeply relaxing.
BENEFITS BEYOND RELAXATION
• Improved flexibility and range of motion — Unlike conventional massages that focus on muscle relaxation, Thai massage incorporates yoga-like stretches that help improve flexibility. This is particularly beneficial for those who spend long hours at a desk or lead a sedentary lifestyle.
• Enhanced circulation and energy flow — The pressing and stretching actions in Thai massage stimulate blood flow and lymphatic circulation. This helps in detoxifying the body and enhancing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to tissues, resulting in an overall boost in energy levels.
• Stress relief and mental clarity — Thai massage’s rhythmic movements and mindful approach foster deep relaxation, reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm. The practice also includes elements of meditation, aiding in mental clarity and emotional balance.
• Pain relief — Many people suffer from chronic pain due to poor posture, repetitive motions or stress. Thai massage targets specific pressure points and employs deep tissue manipulation to alleviate pain, particularly in the back, neck and shoulders.
• Workout and injury recovery — Athletes often encounter joint and muscle pain, fatigue and injuries while they train or compete and Thai massage is one of the favored techniques to promote healing. Its use of
assisted stretching has some similarities to sports massage, but since it gradually stretches the entire body it can result in deeper, more restorative extension of muscles.
WHY YOU SHOULD TRY IT
For anyone seeking a comprehensive approach to health and wellness, Thai massage stands out as a powerful option. It’s not just about relieving muscle tension; it’s about fostering a deeper connection with your body and achieving a balanced state of being.
KYBELLA
OFFERS
NONSURGICAL
APPROACH TO FIGHTING CHIN FAT
by Aymee Wilson, Owner & Founder, Wilson AestheticsIn pursuing a slimmer, more defined jawline, many individuals are turning to cosmetic procedures like Kybella injections to address stubborn chin fat. This treatment offers practical solutions for reducing submental (under-chin) fat. Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable treatment specifically designed to target and reduce excess fat beneath the chin. The main component is deoxycholic acid, which the body produces naturally and helps with food fat absorption and digestion.
Submental fullness gradually decreases as a result of Kybella’s fat-cell-destroying injections into the submental fat beneath the chin.
HOW DOES KYBELLA WORK?
A series of Kybella injections are injected directly into the treatment area. Depending on the individual’s goals and the quantity of fat being treated, different injections and sessions may be needed. A more defined jawline results from the body’s natural processing and removal of the damaged fat cells throughout the healing process.
BENEFITS
Nonsurgical: Patients can achieve a more contoured jawline without undergoing invasive procedures like liposuction.
Convenience: This process is relatively quick, often taking fewer than 30 minutes per session.
Customizable results: Kybella treatments are tailored to each patient’s individual needs. Numerous treatments may be required, depending on the degree of submental fat and the intended outcome.
Minimal downtime: Injections often require less recovery time than surgery. After treatment, most patients can quickly
return to their regular activities, but some temporary bruising and swelling may happen.
Long-lasting results: The treatment destroys the targeted fat cells, and they usually do not recover.
Improved self-esteem: Having less of a double chin might boost one’s self-esteem and contentment with one’s look. Kybella is an effective method for reducing chin fat and enhancing facial contours for a nonsurgical approach and gradual results. As always, schedule a consultation with a licensed provider to see if this is the right treatment for you to ensure you are getting your desired results.
Hyperbaric Chamber
FTHE
or years, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been associated with the treatment of decompression sickness, also known as “the bends.” This strikes deep-sea divers who surface too quickly for the compressed air in their joints to expand and re-enter the bloodstream. Since its initial usage, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been tested and expanded as a treatment option for a wide variety of medical ailments like wound care, burns and more. Additional research studies have shown that this therapy can enhance the body’s ability to repair and regenerate. Benefits include circulation, blood flow, heart health, brain function, joint and soft tissue health, skin conditions, reduced inflammation, eye health, cell repair, reduced wrinkles, improved memory and reaction time and relieving stress and anxiety.
The hyperbaric chamber is pressurized while you lie comfortably inside and oxygen is brought to 95% inside the tank at 1.3 ATA or 4.3 PSI.
Hyperbaric chamber treatments increase oxygen perfusion in the body quickly. When circulation is diminished, it’s an extremely important component since oxygen is essential for the function and maintenance of every cell in our body, regardless of whether it’s an organ, muscle or bone.
USES OXYGEN TO HEAL YOU
Oxygen is responsible for creating ATP, the energy currency of your body that is required by all cellular processes to function and support normal bodily and brain function, including organs, bones, joints, muscles, etc. During treatment, the amount of oxygen in your bloodstream increases significantly and oxygen molecules are delivered at a rapid rate, absorbing into plasma, tissue and major organs. Hyperbaric oxygen before and after plastic surgery can reduce pain and swelling, improve circulation, speed up recovery and even improve results. Many people find substantial benefits after a face lift, eyelid lifts, breast augmentation, nasal reconstruction, abdominal surgery, chemical and laser peels as well as liposuction.
And even athletes have found they can optimize their athletic performance and recovery by using hyperbaric oxygen therapy. It is a fast-forward for cellular healing and recovery by flushing tissues with high levels of oxygen. Athletes experience increased stem cell activation, faster bone and cartilage regeneration and reduced muscle fatigue and exhaustion.

Little
LUXURIES COME WITH BIG BENEFITS
The term “luxury” may bring to mind superyachts and five-star resorts, but experiences and things don’t have to be extravagant to qualify as a luxury. Some of life’s little joys are just enough and can also offer great benefits. By indulging in small, meaningful pleasures you can boost your mood, reduce stress and foster a more positive outlook. This is due to increased dopamine, the feel-good neurotransmitter that affects vital functions like sleep, pain processing and mood. One study found that making purchasing decisions reduced residual sadness. Meaning if you’re able to splurge and can freely buy something you want, you’re more likely to feel secure and happy.
Beyond the benefits that come with dopamine, small indulgences provide the chance to understand more about yourself. So start by recognizing self-care is not selfish. You may not need those little luxuries, but they’re essential for your mental health and well-being. And don’t wait until you’re feeling down to treat yourself. Planning ahead gives you something to look forward to, whether it’s a lavish dessert or a long hot bath. The important thing is to add self-care and little luxuries to your calendar.
Schedule a simple walk around the block each morning or subscribe to a magazine so your treat comes right to your door every month. If you need more inspiration, here are a few to get you started:
• Keep a stash of dark chocolate and treat yourself with a small piece every day.
• Always have a book handy so you can read a chapter if you’re caught with some extra time.
• Buy that fancy tea or coffee you like so you can treat yourself anytime to you want.
• Subscribe to an app like Aura or Calm to have guided meditations or stories at your fingertips.
• Schedule a facial or manicure at the same time each month.
• Find a journal or coloring book and spend some quiet time each night by yourself.
• If you like fresh flowers, brighten your home by placing a standing order every few weeks.

INAMASTE YOUR FACE WITH TARGETED YOGA MOVES
n the quest for youthful, glowing skin, many have turned to face yoga as a natural alternative to invasive treatments and chemical-laden skin care products.
This is a series of exercises for the underlying muscles of the face designed to tone them while improving circulation and promoting relaxation. The practice is gaining popularity for its anecdotal benefits in these areas along with enhancing facial symmetry, which have been corroborated by some small-scale studies.
Face yoga has its roots in ancient India, China and Egypt but has been more fully developed in the last 50 or so years as its own discipline known as facial massage or face exercises.
Here are a few to try for yourself; no trips to the spa or dermatologist’s office involved!

ENOUGH TO KEEP
YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE in Check
High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a common health issue often leading to serious conditions like heart disease and stroke. While medication can be effective, many are seeking natural methods to manage their blood pressure. Incorporating these lifestyle changes and natural remedies can significantly help in maintaining healthy blood pressure levels.
ADOPT A BALANCED DIET
A balanced diet is one of the most effective natural ways to reduce blood pressure. The DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet is highly recommended. It emphasizes reducing sodium intake to 1,500 to 2,300 mg per day and eating fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and low-fat dairy products.
EXERCISE REGULARLY
Regular physical activity strengthens the heart, allowing it to pump blood with less effort and lowering the pressure on your arteries. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise each week. Activities such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling or swimming can be highly effective.
MAINTAIN A HEALTHY WEIGHT
Being overweight increases the risk of hypertension. Losing even a small amount of weight can help lower blood pressure. Focus on sustainable weight loss through a combination of diet and exercise.
LIMIT ALCOHOL, AND QUIT SMOKING
Excessive alcohol consumption can raise blood pressure. Moderation is key — no more than two drinks per day for men. Additionally, smoking is a major risk factor for hypertension. Quitting smoking can improve heart health and lower blood pressure.
MANAGE STRESS
Chronic stress is a significant contributor to high blood pressure. Techniques such as deep breathing exercises, meditation and yoga can help manage stress levels. Taking time for hobbies and ensuring a good work-life balance also contribute to lower stress.
INCREASE POTASSIUM AND MAGNESIUM INTAKE
Potassium helps balance sodium levels in the body, while magnesium helps relax blood vessels. Foods rich in these minerals include bananas, sweet potatoes, spinach and avocados.
REDUCE CAFFEINE CONSUMPTION
High caffeine intake can cause a temporary spike in blood pressure. Limiting your intake to moderate levels, such as one to two cups of coffee per day, can help manage blood pressure.
In a world brimming with digital tools and apps designed to streamline our lives, the bullet journal (a.k.a. BuJo) has emerged as a beloved analog alternative. But is it the right fit for you?
Let’s dive into the essence of bullet journaling and explore whether this customizable planning system is your key to a more organized, mindful and productive life.
BENEFITS OF BULLET JOURNALING
• Mindfulness — The process of manually writing entries can be meditative, helping you stay present and focused. It encourages you to reflect on your goals and progress regularly.
• Creativity — For those with a creative streak, a bullet journal provides a canvas for artistic expression through words and/or images. From simple minimalist designs to elaborate, colorful spreads, the only limit is your imagination.
• Productivity — By breaking down tasks into daily, manageable pieces, a bullet journal helps improve productivity. The act of crossing off tasks is rewarding and motivates you to stay on track.
IS A BULLET JOURNAL RIGHT FOR YOU?
While the benefits are compelling, a bullet journal isn’t for everyone. Here are some factors to consider:
• Time commitment — Setting up and maintaining a bullet journal requires time and effort. If you prefer quick, ready-made solutions, this might feel cumbersome.
• Consistency — The effectiveness of a bullet journal hinges on regular use. If you struggle with consistency in journaling or planning, it might be challenging to keep up.
• Organization style — Bullet journaling appeals to those who enjoy a hands-on approach to organization. If you thrive on structure and find satisfaction in planning, a BuJo can be very fulfilling.
• Creativity vs. functionality — Some people get overwhelmed by the artistic potential of bullet journals and feel pressured to create Instagram-worthy pages. Remember, the primary purpose is functionality; creativity is optional.
GETTING STARTED
If you’re intrigued and ready to start journaling, here’s what you should know: A bullet journal is a blank notebook that you transform into a highly personalized planner using a system of symbols, lists and logs. The typical BuJo is organized into five sections — it’s a good idea to start with the first four and expand into collections after you’ve begun to establish the habit of using it.
• Index: This is your journal’s table of contents, helping you locate sections easily.
• Future log: A yearly overview where you jot down long-term goals, important dates and future tasks.
• Monthly log: A spread for each month, with a calendar on one side and a task list on the other.
• Daily logs: Daily entries where you record tasks, events and notes using bullets, which can be customized to your preferences.
• Collections: Special pages dedicated to specific topics like habit trackers, book lists or project plans.

MAKE YOUR KITCHEN A
Statement
Astatement kitchen stands at the crossroads of art and functionality, embodying the pinnacle of luxury home design. It’s where culinary meets creativity, ensuring that every fixture and feature isn’t just seen but felt.
But what exactly transforms a high-end kitchen from a mere cooking area into a vibrant statement piece?
Investing in this type of kitchen elevates not just your home’s value but also your living experience. It’s a blend of
art, technology and architecture that promises not only to inspire your culinary adventures but also to enchant your guests.
DEFINE THE STATEMENT ELEMENTS
The heart of a statement kitchen lies in its customization.
Bespoke cabinetry crafted from the finest materials, countertops that narrate a story of exclusivity with special marble or handcrafted tiles and top-tier appliances that blend seamlessly into the aesthetic while offering the latest in culinary technology contribute to the kitchen’s appeal.
A cohesive design theme tailored to reflect the homeowner’s personal style and sophistication ensures the kitchen is the centerpiece of the home.
LAYOUT AND LIGHTING
The layout of a statement kitchen should facilitate an effortless flow between cooking, dining and social spaces. An open plan that allows for easy interaction with guests and family members is crucial.
Proper lighting sets the tone, with layered lighting schemes that can be adjusted based on the time of day and type of activity, from bright, clear lights for cooking to softer, ambient lighting for entertaining.
INCORPORATING TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION
Modern luxury kitchens embrace technology, integrating smart systems that enhance both function and comfort. High-tech appliances, from refrigerators that can help manage your grocery list to ovens that can be controlled remotely, ensure culinary precision and integration with smart home systems.
Innovations like steam ovens, which help retain food nutrients, and induction cooktops, known for their energy efficiency, are not only about luxury but also about embracing modern cooking technologies.
LUXURY AESTHETICS AND MATERIAL CHOICES
The choice of materials plays a pivotal role in defining the luxury of a kitchen. Natural stone countertops, exotic wood finishes and bespoke ceramic or glass tiles can create a stunning visual impact while ensuring durability.
These materials are chosen not only for their aesthetic qualities but also for their ability to withstand the rigors of kitchen use, making them ideal for a space that’s both beautiful and functional.
KEEP A PERSONAL TOUCH
With all the impressive materials and up-to-date appliances, you’ll still want it to have a connection to the rest of the house and your life. Maintain some level of continuity with the décor of your home through flooring, wall art or other elements.
HIDDEN/SECRET ROOMS
OFFER MYSTERY AND UTILITY
From early castles to modern luxury homes, secret rooms and passageways have always captured imaginations.
These secret spaces offer refuge, a place to hide valuables or discreet meeting places. On a more practical note, they give you a distinctive way to increase your privacy.
Beyond practicality, they are delightful surprises. Your guests, particularly children, will be enchanted when a typical bookshelf opens to a secret playroom or library.
If this sounds like something you need in your life, your first step is to define the primary purpose for the room. Is it a speakeasy, library or storage vault?
If you’re an art collector, you may want a hidden gallery revealed by moveable walls that add to each visitor’s experience. Each purpose presents design challenges like soundproofing for an entertainment space or reinforced walls for a security room.
Next, find the location. Don’t overlook the structural integrity, sometimes it’s just not feasible. Once you find your spot, the fun begins — choosing your camouflage.
The possibilities are endless — floors with hidden doors, stone walls, exterior walls or bookcases that slide, open or rise. The secret is seamless integration.
The challenge lies in creating virtually indistinguishable features of concealment. This involves matching materials, colors and finishes to create a cohesive, hidden appearance.
All this innovation extends beyond interior spaces to concealed outdoor areas. Retractable roofs, hidden gardens and covered outdoor areas merge architecture and landscaping to create secret retreats within outdoor environments.
And let’s be honest, these rooms are fun. The integration
of hidden sanctuaries can shape emotions, perceptions and overall ambiance. They conjure a sense of curiosity and build a sense of comfort, peace and security.
Home security takes on new meaning when you have a safe, secure place to display your jewelry. It is literally a vault, but prettier and more comfortable. It also can be a place to safely retreat and protect family and property.
The allure of these hidden spaces is a testament to our desire for mystery and uniqueness. Concealed rooms and secret spaces contribute to the functionality of a home and its unique style, leaving you with a one-of-a-kind space filled with mystery.

Faux Florals
ADD FRESH LOOK
Let’s face it — it’s next to impossible to completely replicate the beauty of freshpicked flowers. But we’re getting pretty darn close! Gone are the days of tacky plastic flowers. Today’s faux florals are breathtakingly realistic and exquisitely crafted, making them a staple in the most opulent of spaces. Here’s how to incorporate these beautiful imitations into your home to create a stunning and sophisticated environment.
PLACEMENT FOR MAXIMUM IMPACT
Start by identifying the key
TO ANY HOME
areas in your home where an arrangement can really make a statement. The foyer, for instance, sets the tone for the entire home, making it the perfect spot for a grand, eye-catching display of tall faux orchids or blossoming cherry branches. These arrangements create an ambiance of welcome and warmth.
In the living room, consider the scale and color scheme of your space. Large, open rooms benefit from equally bold statements — think oversized vases filled with lush, varied blooms like peonies, roses and hydrangeas, which can serve as the centerpiece of the room.
TEXTURES AND COLORS: MIXING AND MATCHING
Don’t shy away from mixing textures and colors. Silk flowers paired with faux succulents or grasses can create an intriguing, multidimensional look. Play with contrasting colors or stick to a monochromatic palette with varying shades for a sophisticated flair. The key is in the quality of the faux florals — opt for those that mimic the sheen and feel of real petals and leaves.
LONGEVITY AND CARE
Investing in high-quality faux florals means they last, but occasional maintenance is necessary to keep them looking their best. Dusting and a gentle clean with a damp cloth can help preserve their appearance. Proper storage also is crucial; keep seasonal pieces in cool, dry places to prevent fading and damage.
SEASONAL SWAPS FOR FRESHNESS
One of the advantages of faux florals is the ease of swapping arrangements to reflect seasonal changes or current trends. Bright, airy colors such as yellows and soft pinks are perfect for spring and summer, while rich reds and deep greens can be introduced in autumn and winter for a warmer feel.
TERRA COTTA FLOORS
SUPPORT HOMES WITH NATURAL BEAUTY
Terra cotta tile, with its warm, earthy tones and rustic charm, has captivated homeowners and designers for centuries. Today, it remains a beloved choice for those seeking to infuse their living spaces with a blend of natural beauty and sophisticated elegance.
From Mediterranean villas to Southwestern ranch homes and modern estates, terra cotta tile adds a touch of timeless grandeur.
FEEL THE GLOW
One of the most compelling features of terra cotta tile is its rich, organic aesthetic. Derived from natural clay, each tile boasts variations in color and texture, ensuring that no two are exactly alike.
The warm, reddish-brown hues of terra cotta evoke the warmth of a sunset, creating a cozy yet upscale ambiance that is perfect for both grand living areas and intimate nooks.
Incorporating terra cotta tile offers a myriad of design possibilities.
In Mediterranean-inspired homes, terra cotta tile is often used for expansive flooring that seamlessly transitions from indoor living spaces to outdoor patios. This continuity creates a harmonious flow and blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior environments, enhancing the overall sense of spaciousness and tranquility.
In more modern settings, terra cotta tile can be employed to add a touch of warmth and texture to sleek, minimalist designs.
Imagine a contemporary kitchen with clean lines and stainless steel appliances, where a terra cotta tile backsplash introduces a rustic, earthy element that softens the space and adds visual interest.
In bathrooms, terra cotta tiles can be used to create luxurious spa-like retreats where the natural tones and textures promote relaxation and rejuvenation.
DURABILITY AND CLIMATE CONTROL
The durability and resilience of terra cotta tiling ensures that it can withstand the demands of high-traffic areas while maintaining its beauty. Terra cotta is a natural insulator, helping to regulate indoor temperatures and contributing to energy efficiency.
In regions with warm summers like Arizona its cooling properties can be particularly advantageous, creating a comfortable environment year-round. The care and maintenance are relatively straightforward. Sealing the tiles helps to protect against stains and moisture, ensuring they retain their beauty with minimal effort.
Regular cleaning with gentle, pHneutral products keeps the tiles looking pristine, allowing homeowners to enjoy their timeless elegance without the burden of extensive upkeep.
