Valley Teen Inspires A New Generation of Generosity
Nina Rawal continues to amaze! You may remember Nina. Last year, the teen was featured in the news for her exceptional volunteerism. Today, she continues to make an impact in her community in new ways with her efforts to help those in need, and serves as an inspiring example of a new generation of generosity.
Nina Rawal, 16, Xavier Preparatory School At 16, the Xavier Preparatory School junior already has made more of an impact in the community than many young adults her age. Through Caring About Seniors, an organization she created last year, Nina has demonstrated time and again her generous heart for helping others as a volunteer with her donations of time, talent, and treasure – all of which to support those in need.
Through her organization, Nina has conducted bake sales, book/CD drives, spear-headed collections of donations of needed items, and more to support needs of people in senior care centers and nursing homes in Sun City, Sun City West and Surprise.
In addition to all of this, Nina has helped to organize vendor fairs with her mom, hematologist/oncologist Dr. Shelly Gandhok, to raise money for charitable causes. Funds have helped provide transportation to cancer patients, and walkers, wheelchairs and other support items to seniors in the West Valley.
Most recently, the charitable cause she and her family chose was Sun Health Foundation for the benefit of the Emergency Department (ED) and Patient Care Transformation at Banner Boswell Medical Center through the Generosity for Generations Campaign.
These events are in addition to Nina’s other projects she began last year that also include a pen-pal program, mask donation program, and recording classical music CDs (she’s a violinist with the Phoenix Symphony) that she donates.
Nina’s heart is an example of how people in the community, individuals and groups, can make an impact when they come together. This is true too about the village of support that’s needed to help fund the Generosity for Generations Campaign’s six initiatives, including the ED.
Indeed, this apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, being the daughter of Dr. Gandhok and Dr. Manoj Rawal, cardiologist – both of whom practice in the West Valley. Their philosophy of helping others, evidenced by their love of serving patients and supporting families in the West Valley for more than 16 years, is inspiring the next generation.
What a difference Nina is making! Sun Health Foundation honors her and the many others who are giving their all during this time. Her spirit is a true reflection of the Foundation’s Generosity for Generations Campaign that celebrates donations of time, talent, treasure, and testimony.
