years are not numbers only. 55 years, 5 years. numbers count years and many moments. this writing mirrors some of all the spaces we discovered, opened, shaped, filled, closed again and have forgotten. it’s an attempt to trace roots of a flight of a butterfly and a chameleon. forests and meadows are lush. the glas on the wooden table half full. contextualizing a personal story in this context is also about :: social media “new media” inventing space and meaning since the mid 80s technical possibilities helped shaping the roots for tools and content. works and projects on the Ars Electronica in Linz handled the impact. meanwhile the world became a “globale” village, utopia. utopia today is every day utopia. all over again.
from there we move thank you ERIK http://www.dewil.ch/ http://www.bigbang.cc/ for your technical spirit of adventure and your imagination of space

A place here, a place there, a place every where Why starting from here? Sometimes numbers overtake life. this year is one of those times : : 5 years with citysharing 55 years on this planet 10 years of wisdom gathering in the Middle East before I went to Cairo in march 2003, all my belongings which consist mainly of books and books, files, some art works, tapes, records and books, some furniture and photographs were tucked away in an atomic-war-safe cellar in the 4th circle in Zurich. coming back meant going through all this, knowing that there will be only little space to put only a small percentage of all this somewhere. The good stuff into the golden bowl, the bad stuff into the iron bowl. Separating out, with what I wanted to continue life with. Following a need to make sense of what I found, I was lucky to to find a new permanent home for books in these two libraries, both in St.Gallen, East Switzerland :: Frauenbibliothek http://www.wyborada.ch/, Kunstbibliothek Sitterwerk http://www.sitterwerk.ch/en/sitterwerk. html on shelves, ready to be visited. Rich times Also in the disappearing
looking back :: it was always about creation. the creation of a space. mentally and/or physically. the Intenet as a space, contextually, structually, was simply given. content

From the disappearing of the body Daniel, 1959 – 1995, received funds and grants to realise his pieces enjoying the party with the material. When he died, his atelier/ living/ studio was full of art works transcending from his daily life. I started corresponding with the foundations and galleries he worked together with asking for further support of s.th. they had been supporting and helped shaping – to archive the pieces, the sculptures, the drawings and paintings, the photographs and sketches, the souvenirs and artistic diaries overflowing with materials and desires. To spread the word and keep it going. There was not one positive reaction, urguing that none of their associations’ articles was dedicated to support what was left after death. ( )

The issue of preserving art , who becomes / is part of (which) canon was further discussed, e.g. at the Kunsthaus Glarus during the exhibition in honour of Simone Ch. Wicki, who died surprisingly one year after Daniel. Her artistic heritage confronted us with similar oddities. Meanwhile, in America, a practical spirit prevailed. A foundation financed preservation and flow of oeuvres and artworks after the death of people working in the creative production who died of AIDS related diseases. The AIDS PROJECT LOS ANGELES http://www.apla.org/about-apla/history.html is one of the flag umbrella ships, founded in 1982. During these 2 centuries the body in the West, the physical vehical, was put in the centre of discourses. It is very present, also in it’s absence.

1999 for the SALON 99 at the Kunsthaus Aarau the emplementation of an electronic salon appeared to be quite obvisous.
The Internet opens actual spaces where the body as mind is very present. Time became a different time. a 24/7, access everywhere any time, given, there is electricity and ( wireless ) reception. still an ecological, a smart footprint.
the Digital Salon on the Internet was an integrated platform and equal tool of expression amidst 2 floors at the Modern Art Museum, Kunstmuseum, where salons were 3-dimensional on display. the digital salon was a compilation of Internet art. all the projects shown agreed to be linked to the digital salon. http://www.derdigitalesalon.ch/
Sharing is more than owning The Internet, where the physical body somehow is not present or :: present but not like before.
The Internet offers a nice additional structure to the physical space, though I do argue, that spaces on the Internet are physical, too. How, we find out every time we go there
What had changed in those 10 years? as things come along High schools follow the Bologna model. masters and professors, research projects at high schools and universities are the average. 1999 The paper tiger has finally reached every single corner of any Felix Stampli http://www.arts.ch/index.html/?cat=5 artistic production. Hierarchies, networks, bonds and families shape theories and grounds for attitudes. created the digital salon with a friend Nothing had changed. There is change. Bodies are still disappearing, and participated in salon99 with the interactive we do not name and/or count them (anymore). the saturation of colours is reduced to a slight electric grey and green, a strong light from behind. The light is never so strong as when the blinds are pulled down. A play with the light and Social Dream Machine colours. the nadi The women carriages are enjoyed. in the “third world” the club Though, the rides do not pay off a bike ride. http://www.arts.ch/index.html/?p=16 there and here there is a difference. differences generate diversity this is the difference
There is always not enough and there always could be much more. What has changed? The change in me? Layer by layer – hm On the bicycle in the city you are more alone/isolated then walking and going by taxi in, let’s say, Cairo. Constant negotiations about the space, the way to move, the sound to make generates a very interactive daily life. Choosing an encounter is almost less possible than pumping into one.
This randomness comes along with a subtle notion of not knowing. therefore the moment is intense. here, in Z., everybody knows everything. Apparent routes can live without diversions. Straight from there to here. Form supports a cosy atmosphere. So, who is gonna destroy a revolution? For whose sake? Is it this what had changed?

one story : it all started in Zurich, back in the 80s. the apartment is still here and of cause, so is the limitedness, offered by the accessible physical spaces of a working class 3 room apartment in the industrial circle 5 near the main station of Zurich.

an optimal piece for dwelling, found in Dokki, off Midan Suleiman Gohar. the house is located in a quiet back street of a busy local market street. it was built somewehre in the 30s or 40s last century. the architecture, it’s lightness regarding the space itself and the transcendend light resembles the <italian style>. a spacious 4 room apartment on the forth floor, under the roof with 3 balconies, one of which turns out to be a huge terrace. the wooden floor is kept in 2 rooms. the indoor patio, connecting 4 rooms and the entrance section with kitchen, bathroom and a place where the washing machine lives,is layed out with old tiles. all rooms, their windows and balcony doors offer air circulation chills. the sun rises with rays through the kitchen window red sunsets can be watched from the terrace.
next to the hut lies sandy land it saw days of experiments with quinoa a crop from places located on high level plateaus in parts of South America.
an enthusiastic Danish man started this project that was eventually taking over by the Ministry of Agriculture, Egypt, and died.

piscines on natural waters are a tradition in Zurich and other places in Switzerland. they stem from Victorian times, when ladies claimed pieces of urban nature for themselves, e.g. in Hamstead Heath, London. this tradition is kept through decades and enjoyed by many. one of these picsines is the OBERE LETTEN in circle 5 in zurich. it was build 1952 by Elsa und Ernst Burckhard-Blum. across the river leads a path named Lux-Gyer-Weg. in 1927 Lux was one of the first lady architects in Zurich http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lux_Guyer SAFFA , a housing project with apartments for single women, was built by her, a.o. during an attempted renovation the municipality of Zurich wanted to eliminate the part for women at the southern end of the piscine grounds. a petition with 6785 signatures was handed over to the municipality on 14th July 2012 demanding to keep the women’s section. the interests :: economy - more money in less time on smaller places. big party time. the compromise : : women’s section yes. a curtain seperates it from the view into the open towards the North and the customers of a restaurant named PANAMA. it is built where the changing rooms and showers for women had been. the customers and the women use the same stairs. entering each of the spaces pathed by a huge garbage bin
http://www.badi-info.ch/oberer_letten.html
one of the ideas is to have a place for the work of Lux Guyer Lux Guyer around other urban experiments and opposed to the path already named after her
there are stairs and a lift for handicapped on the very end of the section. no more shower facilities on this end in the women’s section. too bad for female early summer and late autumn swimmers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lux_Guyer too bad for the women, tucked away behind a curtain, not part of it.
