A RI CH H ISTORY. THE RIVER WALK SITE WAS ORIGINALLY PART OF THE KENSINGTON STOCKYARDS. CATTLE ARRIVED FROM ALL PARTS OF THE WESTERN DISTRICTS AND CROSSED THE MARIBYRNONG AT THE HISTORIC LYNCH’S BRIDGE (NOW A WALKING AND CYCLING TRACK JOINING NEWELLS PADDOCK TO LYNCH’S BRIDGE PARK). IN 1987 THE SITE WAS CONVERTED TO HOBSONS LODGE RACING STABLES, WHICH BECAME ONE OF VICTORIA’S LEADING STABLES, HOSTING UP TO 65 HORSES. NOW COMES THIS SITE’S NEWEST INCARNATION, AS IT IS TRANSFORMED INTO A UNIQUE COLLECTION OF INDUSTRIAL INSPIRED APARTMENTS ON THE BANKS OF THE MARIBYRNONG RIVER.

CONTRACT CONTROL SERVICES. Contract Control is a mid-tier commercial building contractor that has been active in the Victorian construction industry for some 35 years. Interests associated with the company have owned and occupied this particular Hobsons Road site since 1986. For 24 years, up until 2010, the site operated under the management of Contract Racing as a leading Melbourne based racehorse training facility. Major quality residential development projects undertaken by Contract Control include the award winning Tyne / Little Elgin Street development in Carlton, Beach Bay Apartments, Sandringham, Byfas Lofts, Abbotsford and more recently EST Apartments in East Melbourne. In conjunction with Nordon Jago Architects, Contract Control also undertook the $65 million Paddington Central development in Paddington, Sydney.
NORDON JAGO ARCHITECTS. Nordon Jago provides a complete architectural service on projects ranging from individual homes to major urban renewal projects, from specialist builds (industrial, medical, educational etc) to all types of residential building. They seek fresh solutions for every project not to innovate for innovation’s sake but because every combination of function, client and site is unique and requires a unique solution.
