The Mozarabe Way - The Winter Trail 1 Week - Taste of the Camino 8 Days / 7 nights

Feel like discovering Moorish culture yet remain in Europe? Then look no further and walk the Mozarabe Trail. Start in Granada, home of the Alhambra, the last Moorish stronghold in Spain. Walk at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, passing olive groves, medieval fortresses, lagoons until the town of C贸rdoba. Ancient Moorish capital prior to being expelled from the current Iberian peninsula in 1492.

The Mozarabe Way - 1 Week Trip From Granada to Córdoba Days 1-3 Granada - Alcala La Real 24 km days (15 miles)

Arrival at Granada train station and transfer to your lodging. Take the time to discover the Alhambra, an Islamic fortress from 889 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 4-6 Alcala La Real Castro del Rio 27km days (17 miles) A series of longer days in distance but not in difficulty as we continue thru olive groves.

A very peaceful section passing: a large lagoon home to many unique bird species, some ancient monasteries and more hilltop fortresses. The days are so serene, one needs to be prepared with enough food and water to last the entire stage.

These first days of walking offer stunning views of the regions mountains & valleys, sparse with medieval fortresses.

Days 7-8 Castro del Rio, Córdoba 36 km day (22 miles)

A long stretch for the final day to the legendary town of Córdoba but on very level terrain. Córdoba is filled with beautiful XIV th century architecture, roman ruins, arab baths, fortresses, flamenco...all in one vibrant city.

Depending on the time of your flight home, you can either enjoy a full day through the streets of Córdoba or head straight back to Madrid’s airport on the final day.

Small B&B style hotel with lovely rooms in an idyllic central location next to the castle.

BAENA - LA CASA GRANDE

An impressive 16th century manor home in the center of town renovated into a comfortable hotel.

CORDOBA - POSADA DE VALLINA

Adjacent to the legendary Mezquita. This building used to be the quarters for the builders of the Mezquita.
